Letter from the Editor Hi Key Clubbers! My name is Michelle Zhou and I am beyond honoured to be serving as the Bulletin Editor on the Eastern Canada District Board for the 2021-2022 service year. I hope you all had an awesome (and safe) summer, and are ready for the school year! First off, a big thank you to everyone who participated in our Summer Solo Service event. Thank you for helping clean up your community. We received an overwhelming amount of support and participation in our very first service initiative to kick-off what I hope will be another successful service year. Although we have to go back to school once again, every cloud has a silver lining, and I could not be more excited to get back to being a part of my school's Key Club! I am so excited for the upcoming year and everything we have planned for you. The EC Key is a newsletter by the Bulletin Editor for the entire district, meant to showcase and acknowledge the achievements of all our Key Clubs and send out relevant announcements and updates. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to be featured in next season's issue; I will be happy to work with you. I wish everyone good luck in their studies and in their service journeys, and I look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can. Your Friend in Leadership and Service,

Michelle Zhou editor.ecdkeyclub@gmail.com

Letter from the Governor Hi Eastern Canada! My name is Jackie Fisher and I am honoured to be serving as your District Governor for the 2021-2022 service year! I have enjoyed my term so far, and working with this year's district board over the summer to plan events for the district! I could not be more excited to return to school this year, and get involved with my home school’s Key Club! After this past tough year, it will be awesome to reconnect with everyone in-person, and do some truly amazing service for the community! Even though you might not be excited to return to school, I hope you are as excited as I am to reconnect with Key Club and service. I’m looking forward to meeting you all at the events being held this year, whether in person or virtually! If you have a meeting you’d like me to attend, or say a few words, don’t hesitate to reach out, I love attending club meetings and events when I’m able to! I wish you all the best in your studies this year, and want you to know that I am here if you need to reach out for anything, even if it’s not Key Club related. I’m here to help with any problems that may come your way! You can find all of my contact information below. All the best,

Letter from the Intl. Trustee Hello Eastern Canada! My name is Cheyenne Stewart, and I am absolutely thrilled to be your new International Trustee! I’m originally from a small European country called Hungary, and I now live in Terre Haute, Indiana. This is my fourth and final (sadly) year in Key Club, and this trustee year is the cherry on top of all of the service I’ve been a part of in high school! As you may know, Eastern Canada was paired with CNH KIWIN’S and Michigan for this service year, and our group is called the CaMiWins Sistrict (sister districts)! My role as trustee is to support each governor to the level they need, complete lasting work on international committees, connect with district and international board members, and serve as the liaison between you and the international level. On an international level, I desire to implement an advisor training and officer succession plan, help clubs recover from COVID losses, and work to create a truly inclusive and equitable service environment. During my term, I hope to connect clubs from the three regions to improve international collaboration, host multiple sistrict Zoom sessions where members can interact, and provide monthly office hours where you can all access me for any questions you may have. I’m not just here for the Governors; I’m here for any and all of you through both Key Club events and life events! Thank you so much for welcoming me into your Key Club family. Remember, YOU are the driving force that keeps Key Club alive; without your dedication, our organization would not thrive! I cannot WAIT to travel to your meetings, events, and conventions and to see you even through Zoom! Don’t hesitate to contact me at any time or day because I’d love to get to know as many of you as possible! Yours in Friendship and Service,

Cheyenne Stewart (she/her) International Trustee 2021-2022 +1 812 239 5842 cheyenne.stewart@keyclub.org

Hey ECD! I'm Laura Trinh, a grade 11 student at Glebe Collegiate Institute, Ottawa. @division1112

Hey Key Clubbers, it's been an honor for me to be a part of and have the chance to lead this lovely community. I am not here to be the person you would look up to but to be one that can bring connections between people and people or just to be a friend. I hope in this year, together with the Board members, I can help establish service projects of which Key Club members like you can have chances to express your core values and improve lives. Contact me and I'll be there!

Getting Back Into Key Club The start of a new school year can only mean one thing: new Key Club service projects and awesome events! All our events and service projects are made possible by dedicated Key Clubbers like you through your annual dues.

WHAT ARE DUES? Registered members of Key Club pay an annual fee that goes to Key Club International, which then provides key Clubs all over the world with funds, allowing your club to run activities and events over the course of the service year. The rest of the money goes towards membership materials, marketing, fundraising efforts and events, and allows us to host larger district-wide and international events and conventions for you!

KEY CLUB MEMBERSHIP Once you are registered as a member by your club secretary or club Advisor, you will have access to membership materials from Key Club International and your District Board. Dues for Key Clubbers in the Eastern Canada District pay a total of $13.50 USD ($6.50 USD for district dues, $7.00 USD for international dues), or ~$17.00 CAD. Make sure to get your all your club's dues in my December 1st to claim the Early Bird Dues award at DELC for your club!

membership update centre Kiwanis and faculty advisors use the Membership Update Centre to add new members and update records after officer elections at the end of each service year. Club officers can follow the same steps to update club info and membership info, including email addresses and expected year of graduation.

SOLO SUMMER SERVICE This summer, our Key Clubbers continued to serve their communities throughout COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.
