Letter from

the editor Hey ECD!

The school year has begun, and we’re entering one of Key Club’s busiest season’s of the year! It’s during this time that we begin to plan for the upcoming year, and start branching out to take on all the service opportunities that are out there. Hopefully everyone has had an amazing summer and is ready for everything that this school year has to bring.

This issue will cover a lot of important information about a couple major opportunities that are quickly approaching, including the YOF grant, as well as Key Club’s very own leadership program, Key Leader. The issue will also cover important information about The Eliminate Project, and how you can contribute this Halloween by participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. There will also be some updates about the divisions in our district, showcasing all the amazing things they’ve been up to. Remember, if you every have any questions, or have any projects or events you would like featured in an upcoming issue, feel free to contact me!

Yours in Service,

Letter from

the governor Hey Key Clubbers!

I hope you guys all had an amazing summer! Now that school is back in session, it’s time to buckle down. There are many amazing events and leadership opportunities coming your way including Key Leader, Divisional Fall Rallies and DCON! Seize the year!

While school was out, the ECD board was still hard at work, preparing for another amazing year of service. Some of the projects we have been working on include committee directives (it’s not too late to apply to be a member! Ask your LG how), DCON preparation, and discussing our new District Service Project. This year, the ECD board has decided to focus to CFFC (Canadian Food for Children). The charity is run by almost exclusively volunteers working to feed the hungry. Donations collected by CFFC go towards providing meals to those living in the poorest countries in the world. Each dollar raised helps provide 20 nutritious meals for those in need. The Eastern Canada District can make an incredible difference through this organization! Talk to your club executive or LG about fundraising! If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out me at govenor@keyclub.ca. I’m here to help! Yours in service,

Aidan Gurung

On September 30th, the St Paul Key Club of Division 4 held a successful car wash fundraiser for project share! The club members planned it all from the start; from promoting the event, creating posters, collecting the fees, and finally sending it all back to the organization. Additionally, the club was able to surpass their quota from last year, making approximately 600$ with the result of their fantastic collaboration and unity. The club is very happy with the growing success of their annual car wash and the plans to continue pursue long into the future.

The Ingersoll Key Club of division 2 held their annual Terry Fox fund-raiser on Sept 27. The club had speakers from the Town of Ingersoll, and school teachers to talk about their experiences with cancer. The club has raised over $1500 with more coming in! All donations go towards the Terry Fox Foundation and finding a cure for cancer. The IDCI Key Club cannot wait until next year when they will host this event again, and they continue to have the hope that one day the Terry Fox Run will not be needed, as cancer will finally have a cure.
