production. Also, declogging with the POWERNET will solve bridging problems through safe breaking down of the clogged material to help it flow more freely. The POWERNET is used before the GIRONET when the storage unit is completely blocked. Idea of the POWERNET is to create a chimney through which the GIRONET will be use to sag down the build-ups. CUSTOMER CASE, FOR EXAMPLE: The customer, a leader in the food industry, had bran stored in two of its silos that had both bridged and did not have flow of material from these silos. The

customer wanted to clean the silos by removing all the material hanging inside of the silo and regain full silo capacity on both bran silos. The customer had been using cardox with mixed results in terms of performance and safety. The customer heard of the Gironet solution from another plant of the group where Standard Industrie did a similar Powernet/ATEX Gironet intervention, also on a bran silo, and asked if Standard Industrie would be able to clean its bran silos. Standard Industrie conducted a site inspection and agreed that it could help. First, the Powernet was used to penetrate

the bridged material and then the ATEX Gironet was applied to clean the material inside of the silo with brass chains. This was applied to both bran silos, and the customer regained full capacity at the end of the intervention. Both silos were cleaned in seven working days. The customer obtained the results that he expected (Photos 5 & 6). Regardless of the cleaning solution chosen by its customers, Standard Industrie meets the dual challenge of maintaining a high level of maintenance to guarantee production flow, while keeping costs to a minimum.

Enclosed Eurosilo storage of petcoke at the INA Refinery

DCi 132

At the INA refinery in Rijeka, Croatia, the construction of a fully enclosed Eurosilo for the storage of petcoke is well under way. EPC Contractor KT, highly specialized in the refining industry, chose the Eurosilo system as a state-of-the-art solution to store the petcoke produced by the new coker unit that is being built at the refinery. Saving space was decisive for KT to choose the Eurosilo, but as always in the petrochemical industry, the high safety standards are unconditional.

VERTICAL STORAGE FITS LIMITED SPACE One of the biggest challenges was to work with the limited space at the fully built-up plant site. By using the vertical storage concept of the Eurosilo, KT was able to position the storage facility on premises, near the new coker unit. The small footprint not only saves KT and end-user INA the huge costs of land reclamation and a logistic infrastructure, but also includes the extra measures to guarantee environmental safety. Compared to storage in storage halls, the Eurosilo system reduces the required ground space

to only 25% for the same amount of petcoke.

BUILD-IN SAFETY SYSTEMS The safety standards in the petrochemical

industry are traditionally high. But the location at the seaside adds a list of further requirements, to meet environmental issues. A number of safety systems ensure compliance with the requirements. The
