Wow—what a month July turned out to be!
We hosted our biggest and most successful Parade of Homes yet in Eagle Ridge, drawing hundreds of guests to tour a collection of beautifully crafted homes. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, to our incredible partners—Hurn Plumbing and Heating, Arriscraft Brick and Stone, Casey’s Creative Kitchens, Elgin Carpet One, and Kielstra Siding—and most importantly, to the homeowners who graciously opened their doors. It’s not every day people volunteer their homes for tours—not for charity, not for a holiday, but simply because they believe in the Doug Tarry difference. FINISHING TOUCHES ON THE MODEL HOME!
My mini fridge has definitely been earning its keep lately—especially with this heat wave! We’ve also added a few final touches to really make the office feel complete. The best part of my job is meeting and connecting with new people every day, and I couldn’t be happier with how the space has turned out to meet them in. Huge thanks to Makenna for her amazing eye and decor expertise that helped elevate the whole vibe. And shoutout to Mike, my go-to handyman, for always being there to help bring ideas to life. Owen and I had an absolute blast running our hydration station and soaking in the incredible energy of the crowd. The streets of Talbot were packed with an amazing variety of cars—from stunning classics to the iconic Mystery Van, and even the legendary Back to the Future DeLorean. Everywhere you looked, local vendors added to the festive vibe, making the whole event feel like a true celebration of community and nostalgia.
And the highlight? A show-stopping performance by Abode’s own Adam Blair, who had the crowd captivated from start to finish. It was a joy to be part of this special evening, witnessing the vibrant spirit that makes St. Thomas so unique. Can’t wait for next year already!

A key part of this process is performing precise Heat Loss and Heat Gain (HLHG) calculations. These calculations consider factors like climate, insulation, window size, and room orientation to determine exactly how much heating and cooling each space requires. Shrimp with Orzo and Feta
INGREDIENTS:
1-1/4 cups uncooked whole wheat orzo pasta
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1-1/4 pounds uncooked shrimp (26-30 per pound), peeled and deveined
Directions
1. Cook orzo according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic; cook and stir 1 minute. Add tomatoes and lemon juice. Bring to a boil. Stir in shrimp. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until shrimp turn pink, 4-5 minutes.
2. Drain orzo. Add orzo, cilantro and pepper to shrimp mixture; heat through. Sprinkle with feta cheese.
