What a month it’s been! November brought incredible opportunities to connect with our community, share the Doug Tarry difference, and celebrate the season in meaningful ways.

We kicked things off at Light Up Talbot, where Doug Tarry Homes was proud to sponsor the annual Tree Lighting. It was a fantastic evening filled with festive spirit, warm smiles, and a wonderful sense of togetherness. Thank you to everyone who joined us to help launch the Christmas season.

Our Say Yes to the Address promo is still going strong — and it’s been a hit! If you’ve been thinking about one of our Quick Possession Homes, now is the time to act. The promotion runs until the end of January, and we don’t want anyone to miss out.

This past month, Suzie was out and about presenting donation cheques to several local organizations, continuing our commitment to supporting those in need. We were also grateful to be welcomed by John Wise Public School for a Careers in Construction presentation. The students were engaged and curious, and it’s always a pleasure to help inspire the next generation of builders. LIGHT UP TALBOT It was such a fun night watching the lighting of the big tree on Talbot! We loved connecting with so many amazing community members and seeing the excitement and smiles on all the kids’ faces when they got to meet Santa. Moments like these remind us how special our community truly is.

LIBRO DAY Another great day in the community! I spent the afternoon at Libro Credit Union handing out Doug Tarry swag and Halloween candy while getting to know even more amazing people here in St. Thomas and the surrounding area. Thank you to Libro for hosting us — we truly appreciate the warm welcome and the opportunity to connect. We’re already looking forward to coming back and taking part in more community events together!

NESTLED IN NATURE I moved to St. Thomas in December of 2024, so I’m coming up on one year since relocating from London, where I was born and raised. Last New Year’s, my fiancée Jade and I made a resolution to go on walks regularly—a chance to stay active and to get to know the area we now call home. It’s turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It has become my favourite part of the day to take a lap around Lake Margaret and catch up with each other. We’ll often connect our route over to Pinafore Park as well, which has become another spot we love.

I’ll admit it—I hate traffic, if I could walk everywhere I would. I hear this traffic concern often from people visiting from larger cities across Ontario. But here in St. Thomas, I’ve found everything incredibly easy to get to from shopping, fitness, nature, and healthcare. It truly has that small-town charm and

neighbourly feel. On our walks we see so many smiling faces, young families fishing or playing in the park, and older couples enjoying group walks or simply taking in the nature we’re so lucky to have here.

I am genuinely grateful to call St. Thomas my home. Everything really is five minutes away, and it has made my evenings outdoors something I look forward to every day. There’s a sense of community here that feels real, warm, and welcoming—and I’m proud to be part of it.

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/8 teaspoon salt

filling:

5 tablespoons raspberry jam

Directions

frosting:

1/4 cup butter, softened

1 cup confectioners’ sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Green food coloring

Quartered red candied cherries and star-shaped sprinkles

1. In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy. Add milk. Combine the flour, cornstarch and salt; add to the creamed mixture, beating just until dough forms a ball.

2. On a lightly floured surface, knead 20 times. Roll out 3/8-in. thickness. Cut with a 2-in. round cookie cutter. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets.

3. Bake at 350° for 12-13 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. Spread jam over the bottom of half of the cookies; top with remaining cookies.

4. In a large bowl, beat the butter, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla and food coloring until smooth. Place mixture in a heavy-duty resealable plastic bag; cut a small hole in a corner of bag. Pipe frosting in tree shapes on cookies. Garnish with candied cherries and sprinkles.

As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding year, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to you and your families this holiday season.

Christmas has always been a special time for me. A time to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the people who fill our lives with meaning. Whether you’re gathering with family, reconnecting with old friends, or simply enjoying a quiet moment at home, I hope your holidays are filled with joy, peace, and the comfort of good company.

I am incredibly proud of the work our team, trades, partners, and community have accomplished together this year. None of what we do is possible without the dedication and passion each of you brings to our shared mission of building homes and strengthening our community.

As we step into a new year, I look forward to the opportunities ahead and to continue this journey with all of you. Thank you for your trust, your support, and for being part of the Doug Tarry Homes family.
