Welcome to the 31st annual amfAR Gala Cannes.
Thank you so much for joining us this evening. The secret ingredient in the long-running success of this legendary benefit gala is the generous participation of people like you. The combined support of our Cannes donors and sponsors over the past three decades has generated an astounding $297 million to advance our lifesaving research.
Those resources have enabled us to drive progress in HIV prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and have set us firmly on a path toward a cure. While 10 people have already been cured as a result of stem cell transplantation, this costly and high-risk procedure can never be used to cure large numbers of people. That’s why our outstanding researchers are exploring every innovative strategy that could lead to a cure for all.
The need is urgent. AIDS claims a life every minute. In spite of our advances, treatment is lifelong. When antiretroviral therapy is taken away, a person’s immune system is quickly overrun by HIV, with deadly consequences. A cure could change all that.
Our commitment to curing AIDS remains ironclad. However, as a leader in biomedical research for 40 years, our work has touched on related diseases and conditions including tuberculosis, hepatitis, certain cancers, and mental health. Those overlapping efforts will continue as we leverage our knowledge and experience to address critical global health challenges.
As it has been for the past three decades, amfAR Gala Cannes is a shining beacon of hope for all people living with HIV. A union of hearts, minds, and purpose. In this, our 40th year, we couldn’t be more grateful to you for joining us in this historic endeavor.

Cookson trip on M/Y Dream Papua New Guinea, 2024
An island-hopping yacht adventure in Papua New Guinea, pausing at deserted white-sand beaches. Iceland’s first floating glass igloos, set up for our private clients under the northern lights. Or a family celebration on a private Kenyan conservancy, complete with a rhino translocation. We know a thing or two about bringing a slice of comfort to the world’s most remote places.
Duran Duran have always reveled in the shadows, playing with artistic, aesthetic, and emotional extremes. As much as you can move to the timeless chants of “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Ordinary World,” or “Rio,” it feels most natural to do so under the cover of night. They’re the ultimate soundtrack to sharing secrets in close whispers on the dancefloor before the lights go up.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, they’ve sold north of 100 million records around the world in addition to scoring 18 American chart hits and 21 Top 20 UK smashes. Their various awards and accolades have included eight lifetime achievement awards, two GRAMMYs®, two Ivor Novellos, two BRIT Awards (including Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2004), and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
They penned the only James Bond theme to reach #1 in the U.S., while David Lynch helmed one of their most successful concert films. You can hear them sampled in songs by everyone from Notorious B.I.G. to 5 Seconds of Summer and in reverent covers by Muse, Deftones, and more. Rio has claimed spots on Q’s “100 Greatest British Albums,” NME’s “100 Greatest Albums of All Time,” and Pitchfork’s “Top 100 Albums of the 1980s.” Summing up their enduring impact, Vanity Fair proclaimed, “Duran Duran’s always been about constant innovation and the new.’” Given a penchant and flair for fashion, rock music never looked the same after their emergence either.
Their impact as style icons has been well-documented by WWD, Vogue, and more. In between selling out shows worldwide, the iconic UK quartet unearth bright melodies from darkness on their latest release, Danse Macabre, as they thread together new tunes, covers, and alternate versions of classics.

Gazing Ball (da Vinci Mona Lisa), 2016

"[Gazing balls] are devices of connection. I want to participate, I always just wanted to be involved in a dialogue with the avant garde. This is my family, these are the artists that I have interest in, the joy that has enriched my life.”—Jeff Koons
A master appropriation artist, Jeff Koons reinvents da Vinci’s Mona Lisa through his Gazing Ball series. As each work in the series recreates some of the most recognized works in Western art history, Koons successfully places himself in the art historical canon. The artist subverts a beloved artwork by placing a blue mirrored glass “gazing ball” atop the surface of the work. The blue mirror in front of each image reflects both the viewer and the painting, encouraging audience participation and connecting them to cultural history. Koons has stated that the gazing ball “represents the vastness of the universe and at the same time the intimacy of right here, right now.”
Jeff Koons is one of the most influential, prominent, and controversial American contemporary artists of the postwar era, best known for sculptures of popular culture icons. Koons’s oeuvre explores commercialism, Pop aesthetics, advertisements, and the concept of the readymade. He addresses issues of taste, pleasure, celebrity, and commerce by raising popular culture and banal items to the realm of high art.
Many of the world's great contemporary art museums have hosted important solo exhibitions of the artist's work including the Whitney Museum in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and largescale sculptures are permanently installed in locations such as on the grounds of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and the Petit Palais in Paris.
amfAR has been honored to feature works by Jeff Koons, including the monumental sculpture Coloring Book, at previous editions of the amfAR Gala Cannes, and is pleased to bring this work featuring the world's most famous painting to this crucial event.

10 photographs from the film Giant , 1956
Digital print on glossy paper
Each print 43 in. x 43 in. / 109.22 cm. x 109.22 cm. (unframed)
This stunning collection of 10 photographs dates from the 1955 set of the Warner Brothers film Giant , starring Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and James Dean. The film, an epic drama about members of a wealthy Texas ranching family confronting oil barons and the legacy of racism, received 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Actor nods for Hudson and 24-year-old Dean, who tragically died in a car accident shortly after filming ended. An anonymous Warner Brothers staff photographer captured these Hollywood icons in moments of rest, laughter, and preparation between takes during the film's shoot in Marfa, Texas. The owner of these historical negatives has preserved them in mint condition, allowing for this beautiful portfolio to be presented here in Cannes tonight.
Almost 30 years after Giant , Rock Hudson became a leading man in a different way. He bravely announced to the world that he had been living with AIDS and became the first major celebrity to do so, pushing back against the stigmatization of the disease. Deeply touched by her friend’s illness, Elizabeth Taylor began to use her star power to bring much-needed attention—and dollars—to the fight against HIV/AIDS. She joined forces with Dr. Mathilde Krim and others to co-found amfAR and rally support for AIDS research. Rock Hudson became one of amfAR’s first donors, giving $250,000 shortly before his death.
Dame Elizabeth, amfAR’s Founding International Chairman, dedicated the rest of her life to ending AIDS, from testifying before Congress and visiting people living with HIV during their hospital stays to launching the fundraising event that 31 years later is still going strong—amfAR Gala Cannes.

German-born artist Chris Succo (b. 1979) attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he was awarded Meisterschüler by Prof. Georg Herold in 2009, and the Royal College of Art, graduating from the latter in 2012.
At the heart of Succo's artistic practice is painting. However, through his ongoing drive to develop new pictorial inventions and the resulting material research and experimentations, he is constantly expanding it to include photography, sculpture, and installation elements. While his visual language is formally rooted in the tradition of Abstract Expressionism, another characteristic feature of many works is that they are imbued with individual impressions and experiences and draw on influences from both subcultures and popular culture.
With his latest series, the Connecticut Paintings , he leaves his usual paths and concentrates on what is essential—painting. There is nothing left of the material experiments of earlier works or the spatial character of past exhibitions. The painted picture in its very own materiality—color and canvas—confronts us viewers with its full force. All concentration is directed towards the basic elements of the medium, with the aim of finding oneself in the painting, regardless of all external circumstances. After Succo completely banished color from his works in his previous series, it now returns dynamically in the Connecticut Paintings . The newly created series is based on intensive color research, which he devoted himself to during a residency at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut. Far away from everyday life and everything familiar, surrounded by pristine nature, he has created an organic color palette that has absorbed its surroundings and unites almost the entire range of colors. It includes earth tones such as brown or beige, deep, intense blue and delicate pink, through to violet, bright red, and yellow.
His works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions at the Ludwig Museum, Koblenz; Kunstverein Heppenheim; Salon Kennedy, Frankfurt; Villa Schöningen, Potsdam; Galerie Stadt Sindelfingen; the Almine Rech Gallery, Paris, London, Brussels, and Shanghai; as well as at The Journal Gallery, New York and Los Angeles, to name a few. Works by the artist are represented in the following private and public collections: Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf; Kunstsammlung NRW, Düsseldorf; Chanel Collection; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Collection of the National Bank; and the Peter Marino Art Foundation, among others.
The artist currently lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany.

This is no ordinary Dodge Charger. Featured front and center in Fast X (Fast & Furious 10) , this 2021 Dodge Charger Widebody served as the hero car, the main vehicle driven by Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto during the film’s intense chase sequences.
Built for both looks and performance, this charcoal grey widebody boasts a powerful V8 engine and aggressive stance, perfectly suited for navigating Rome’s narrow, historic streets. It wasn’t just for show— this Charger led some of the most adrenaline-fueled scenes in the movie, performing high-speed drifts, tight turns, and stunt-heavy sequences through cobblestone alleys and past ancient landmarks.
This is the actual car used in the movie, not a background or duplicate stunt vehicle. It carries authentic battle scars—scratches, scuffs, and dings—all earned on set during filming. Each mark is a testament to its role in the action, adding authenticity and character to an already iconic machine. Whether it was evading explosions or outmaneuvering adversaries, this Charger was pushed to its limits. It stands as a piece of cinematic history—representing not only Dom Toretto’s unwavering resolve but also the franchise’s legacy of speed, muscle, and family.
For any Fast & Furious fan or collector, this is a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of the saga.

Alexandre Diop (b. 1995, Paris, France) is a Franco-Senegalese artist based in Paris, Dakar, Vienna, and Berlin. His process is deeply rooted in a meticulous exploration of the physicality of his materials. Diop has developed the concept of Object Image, utilizing everyday—and often discarded—materials and objects such as metal, found items from the streets or junkyards, fabrics, books, photographs, colors, anatomical elements, as well as transformative processes like fire and rust.
Acting as multilayered narratives, Diop’s works delve deeply into his own experiences, alongside broader observations and interpretations of the world. Inspired by contemporary realities, and cultural and subcultural practices across Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, and the U.S., as well as diverse musical genres ranging from noise to hip-hop, Diop presents a rich tapestry of inquiries, socio-political themes, and art-historical references. Diop also founded the artist collective Le Mouton Noir during his time in Berlin.
The Rubell Museum in Miami selected Alexandre Diop for its 2022 artist residency, which concluded with a solo exhibition. That same year, Ekow Eshun curated "The New African Portraiture: Shariat Collections" at Kunsthalle Krems, Austria, which featured Diop prominently. In 2023, Alexandre became the first contemporary artist to exhibit his works among the anatomical wax collection at the Josephinum, Museum of Medical History, in Vienna. He was also included in the group exhibition "Being Mortal" at the Dom Museum in Vienna and had a solo exhibition, "Jooba Jubba, l’Art du Défi, the Art of Challenge," at the Rubell Museum in Washington, D.C.
In 2024, Alexandre was part of the exhibitions "The Beauty of Diversity," Albertina Modern, Vienna; "Invisible Luggage," Historic Hampton House, Miami; and "Collection Highlights," Rubell Museum, Miami. In 2025, Diop’s drawings were presented as part of "De Sculptura," an exhibition at Albertina Klosterneuburg, while this month Diop is a part of a two-person exhibition alongside Keith Haring at CFHILL in Stockholm. His art is included in major public and private institutions such as Albertina Museum (Vienna), Rubell Museum (Miami), AMA Collection Venice (Italy), Kunsthalle Krems (Austria), Espacio Tacuari (Buenos Aires), the Smithsonian (Washington, D.C.), and The Bunker Artspace (West Palm Beach).

Earlier this year, Brody earned the Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Award for Best Actor for his performance as László Toth in Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist . He also portrayed playwright Arthur Miller opposite Ana de Armas in the 2022 film Blonde , a fictionalized biopic of Marilyn Monroe, the subject of this work.
In the fall of 2024, Brody made his London stage debut, playing death-row inmate Nick Yarris in Lindsey Ferrentino’s The Fear of 13 . His performance earned him a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor.
Brody also heads the production company Fable House Films, which produced and financed the 2022 feature Clean . In addition to starring in the film, he co-wrote the script and score.
Alongside his cinematic work, Brody is an accomplished painter and visual artist. His first collection, Hotdogs, Hamburgers and Handguns , debuted at Art Basel in 2015, followed by Hooked , which premiered during New York Art Week the following year. This artwork is from a new series of works that Brody has been working on for years in his studio. This image from the new series marks the first new painted work to be exhibited publicly since Brody's 2016 Hooked series.

Mick Jagger F&S II.140, 1975
Screenprint on Arches Aquarelle (rough) paper
43.5 in. x 29 in. / 110.49 cm. x 73.66 cm.
AP 39/50 from an edition of 250 with 50 APs, 3 PPs, signed by the artist in pencil lower right and numbered in pencil lower left
Mick Jagger 140 by Andy Warhol is part of Warhol's iconic portfolio of ten Mick Jagger artworks. This print is signed by both Andy Warhol and Mick Jagger.
Created in 1975, this exceptional work symbolizes not only Warhol’s close friendship with Jagger but also his turn to some non-representational techniques, such as the abstract blocks and scribbles. Each print in the portfolio uses a different photograph of Jagger as well as Warhol’s distinctive collage-like style to emphasize different features of the subject. Similarly, Warhol added pencil detailing, which contributes to the mixed-media style.
This particular print slices the rock star in half, dividing his face between the photographed version and a pen-sketched drawing of his face. The light green background contrasts with the abstract pink slashes on the image, making for a classic Pop art portrait. Finally, Warhol adds extra detailing and linework to the left eye, nose, and lips. Ultimately, Mick Jagger 140 is one of the most delicately composed portraits from the series, considered the finest of the set by many for its vibrant colors.
In almost all of Warhol’s celebrity portfolios, he uses the theme of repetition to emphasize the constant attention celebrities receive in the media, and the way their personalities are mass-marketed—the Mick Jagger portfolio from 1975 is no exception. Enthralled by celebrities and fame, Warhol often immersed himself in the celebrity lifestyle by hosting eccentric parties at The Factory. Many celebrities commonly appeared at his parties, including his infamous band of “superstars.” Warhol took advantage of these gatherings to engage with celebrities and gather inspiration for his art.
Warhol created portraits of many well-known figures including Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, and Muhammad Ali, and his Double Elvis and Triple Elvis are among the most valuable paintings of all time. Warhol's collaboration with Jagger was unique—in addition to this series of prints, Warhol created a famous cover for a Rolling Stones album that featured a controversial close-up of a man's crotch in tight jeans with a workable zipper.
During his lifetime, Warhol was a steadfast supporter of amfAR, generously donating artworks that raised millions of dollars. In 1986, he hosted one of amfAR’s earliest fundraising events at the New York Academy of Art.

Chris Levine is an artist who works across many mediums in pursuit of a meditative experience through image and form. His medium is Light, and in the case of his portraiture the artist talks about capturing the inner Light. Levine is perhaps best known for producing what is already being described as one of the most iconic images of the twentyfirst century: Lightness of Being . With light as its message, the sensational portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II presents an utterly fresh depiction of a woman, who for almost a century, was the most famous woman in the world.
Levine had two historic sittings at Buckingham Palace for which he styled the Queen, selecting her clothes and jewelry for the portrait including the ceremonial diamond diadem crown. The National Portrait Gallery called it “the most evocative image of a Royal by any artist.”
This one-of-a-kind version of the color Lightness of Being , printed over images from the Equanimity sittings, is a first-time creation. It is additionally adorned with pastel hand drawings to further add to its uniqueness.
In addition to receiving this incredible print, the winning bidder will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth II and have their own portrait sitting with Chris Levine at his Mayfair studio in London. Levine’s past subjects for his portrait sittings have included Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Sir Paul Smith, the Dalai Lama, Grace Jones, Gilbert and George, Giorgio Armani, Banksy, and others. Many of his portraits are in the permanent collections of major museums throughout the world.
Levine has had solo exhibitions at numerous institutions and galleries, including a 2021 career-defining solo exhibition at the prestigious Houghton Hall, England, following James Turrell, Anish Kapoor, Damien Hirst, and Henry Moore. Other exhibitions include Collectors Contemporary, Singapore; Annenberg Foundation, Los Angeles; Museum of Modern Art, New York; the National, Scotland; and at The Royal Opera House, Saatchi Gallery, Moco Museum, and National Portrait Gallery in London.

Captured during a creative retreat in the South of France in 2021, the photograph immortalizes a poignant moment—Julian, deeply engaged in conversation with Bono, suddenly discovers a photo of his legendary father, John Lennon, quietly framed in the backdrop. In a recent reunion, Julian and Bono returned to this evocative photograph, sparking a moment of collective inspiration that birthed this extraordinary piece—an artistic testament to their shared journey and signed by both artists, offering a tangible connection to their intertwined legacies.
Julian Lennon—singer/songwriter, philanthropist, documentary filmmaker, children’s book author, UNESCO Peace Laureate, award-winning literacy advocate, and fine art photographer—has long supported amfAR and generously donated this unique artwork for this year’s amfAR Gala Cannes. Beyond music, Lennon’s artistry extends into photography and literature. In 2024, he released his first coffee table book, Life’s Fragile Moments , a stunning visual chronicle of his life, travels, and philanthropic work. A dedicated humanitarian, Julian founded The White Feather Foundation in 2007 to protect Indigenous cultures and later expanded its mission to include education, health, clean water, and environmental initiatives. In 2015, he launched The Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls in memory of his mother.
Bono is best known as the lead singer and frontman of the rock band U2, which he co-founded in 1976. Renowned for his distinctive voice and passionate lyrics, Bono has contributed to the band's success with hits like "With or Without You," "One," and "Beautiful Day." Beyond his music career, he is a prominent activist, advocating for humanitarian causes, including global health, poverty alleviation, and human rights through various initiatives, including the ONE Campaign. Bono's influence extends beyond music, as he has received numerous accolades for his artistic achievements and philanthropic efforts.

Baron George Hoyningen-Huene (1900–1968) worked during the golden age of couture fashion and Hollywood cinema, and ranks alongside Steichen, Horst, Penn, and Avedon as one of the most prominent, innovative, and influential fashion photographers of the past century. Born in St. Petersburg, he spent time in London before moving to Paris in the 1920s, where he created photographs for Vogue and Vanity Fair . In 1935, Hoyningen-Huene joined Harper’s Bazaar magazine, where he continued to capture the fashions and stars that defined glamour, grace, and style in the early twentieth century.
In 2020 the George Hoyningen-Huene Estate Archives launched a new series of limited-edition platinum palladium prints, including Josephine Baker and Balenciaga . The creation of these photographs has been undertaken with the utmost care and consideration for the photographer’s original vision. The process, which employs metals more precious than gold, results in a lush, matte surface and tones that range from velvety blacks to delicate whites.
Hoyningen-Huene made several striking portraits of the Jazz Age icon and civil rights campaigner Josephine Baker (1906–1975) for Vanity Fair magazine, in which she wore hoop earrings and three goldplated “Giraffe” necklaces inlaid with lacquer, the design of the Art Deco master craftsman Jean Dunand.
A portrait of Baker by Hoyningen-Huene featured in the groundbreaking 1929 exhibition “Film und Foto der 20er Jahre,” which celebrated contemporary photography as both an art form and a transformative means of communication. Almost a century later, this portrait of her was included in the 2024 exhibition “Josephine Baker: Icon in Motion” at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
Hoyningen-Huene frequently used sculptures to add a luxurious, classical note to his photographic sets. In the featured image, shot for Harper’s Bazaar , he combined a sculpture and fresh flowers with a black lace evening gown by Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga to create a supremely romantic picture. The model’s carefully coiffed hair and thin, arched eyebrows evoke the style of 1930s movie stars such as Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo.

Relive the inaugural Monaco Grand Prix of 1929, where the legendary William Grover-Williams clinched victory in a Bugatti Type 35B. As the most successful British racing driver of the 1920s, Grover-Williams not only won the first-ever Monaco GP but also dominated the French Grand Prix in 1928 and 1929. His Monaco GP triumph is etched in the annals of racing history, marking the first win in what would later become the most prestigious Grand Prix in the world. The Bugatti Type 35B, renowned for its speed and elegance, was the choice of eight out of the 16 drivers who started the 1929 Monaco GP. With dark green livery and the famous number '12', this car beat the heavily-favored Mercedes driven by Rudolf Caracciola, showcasing the prowess of Bugatti engineering.
Bugatti stands at the pinnacle of automotive prestige, beauty, and precision engineering reserved for a privileged few. The legendary Bugatti Type 35 was famed for both its remarkable winning streak and its groundbreaking design. Winning over 1,000 races made it one of the era’s most successful race cars, while its aerodynamic efficiency profoundly influenced future race car design.
Bugatti commissioned Ben Hedley to craft a commemorative edition for the marque’s 110 th anniversary. The resulting Bugatti Baby II is this 75% scale artful reinterpretation developed using a full 3D scan of an original 1924 French Grand Prix car brought into the twenty-first century by its zero-emission electric propulsion system. The arched radiator is immediately recognizable, as is the tapered stern. Authentic period features include a mahogany Nardi steering wheel and leather bonnet straps, while design elements adapted from today’s Bugatti include the turned aluminum dashboard, and a ‘Speed Key,’ inspired by the Chiron, offering an exhilarating driving experience. The body is hand-formed aluminum, with interiors in saddle brown leather.
This rare, limited edition collector’s item is a work of drivable art handcrafted by the Hedley Studios artisans in their workshop at Bicester Heritage in Oxfordshire. It is numbered, signed and adorned with both an official Bugatti chassis plate and a signature solid silver Bugatti macaron reflecting its legendary place in automotive history.

“Artists are no longer like Wordsworth walking around the hills looking for inspiration; flowers and trees are not our experience; mass media creates our shared experience.”—James Franco
James Franco (b. 1978) is an actor, filmmaker, writer, designer, and artist based in Los Angeles. After completing his bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA in June 2008, Franco simultaneously enrolled in four MFA programs, earning degrees in fiction writing from Brooklyn College; filmmaking from Columbia University and New York University, Tisch; new media from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD); and poetry from Warren Wilson College. Notably, Franco continued his literature education, enrolling in Yale's English PhD program and the University of Houston's Creative Writing PhD program.
In August 2010, James Franco, RISD professor Francisco J. Ricardo, and Gus Van Sant taught the first MoMA PS1 “Summer School,” a laboratory workshop based on the European summer academy model. This led to a 2011 two-person exhibition, "James Franco and Gus Van Sant: Unfinished," at Gagosian Gallery, Beverly Hills. The same summer, Franco’s first solo show, "James Franco: The Dangerous Book Four Boys,” opened at New York’s Clocktower Gallery and traveled to Berlin’s Peres Projects. It was here that Franco began utilizing the autobiographical themes that have continued to influence all aspects of his work.
Throughout the aughts, Franco collaborated with John Carter to create the short film Erased , and also with Douglas Gordon, Harmony Korine, Damon McCarthy, Paul McCarthy, Terry Richardson, Ed Ruscha, and Aaron Young to mount two Rebel Without a Cause -themed shows.
His next shows included the Hitchcock-inspired "Psycho Nacirema" at Pace London (2013); “New Film Stills” at Pace New York (2014), an homage to Cindy Sherman; a collaboration with Kalup Linzy at Bob Rauschenberg Gallery (2017); and the autobiographical “Pipe Brothers: Tom and James Franco” at Arizona State University Art (2017). In 2024, Franco unveiled his latest series, Hollywood is Hell , at Galerie Gmurzynska in Zürich, which combined collage and autobiography to create a portrait of Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Every celebrity who speaks up for a cause today usually gives a nod to using their “platform” for good.
One could argue that Dame Elizabeth Taylor, amfAR’s founding international chairman, invented the platform, as we know it.
Taylor’s powerful, compassionate voice, alongside Dr. Mathilde Krim, amfAR’s founding chairman, undoubtedly spurred the U.S. government and others to take action—to invest in lifesaving research, treatment, prevention, and education.
Since then, many bold names have followed in Dame Elizabeth’s footsteps—Antonio Banderas, Harry Belafonte, Cher, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Janet Jackson, Milla Jovovich, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Julia Roberts, Zhang Ziyi, and the list goes on. Here is a sampling of quotes from some of amfAR’s celebrity advocates.
“There is no greater way to honor those we have lost than to stand resolutely with those who are alive and fighting today.”
ELIZABETH TAYLOR
“Together we can solve any problem.”
RICHARD GERE
“Right now 40 million people around the world are living with HIV. Every single minute there are two more. Every single minute one person dies of AIDS-related causes.”
JULIANNA MARGULIES
“HIV is a social justice issue. How are people supposed to lead full and joyful lives if access to healthcare that many take for granted is a daily struggle? That is what a cure for HIV accomplishes.”
“We can be inspired by what amfAR has accomplished, and we can stand by them—and fund them—in all that they are poised to accomplish in the near future.”
"HIV must be eradicated and we can't settle for anything less than a cure. That's amfAR's goal."
“Let’s step up together so we can look our kids in the eye and tell them we did everything we possibly could to rid the world of AIDS, and that ultimately we succeeded.”
MICHELLE YEOH
