LALLIER R021
49% Pinot Noir 44% Chardonnay 7% Meunier
Very clear aromas, dominated by citrus fruit and completed by elegant floral notes. Great purity and freshness with a very delicate salty sensation.
The 2024 Langhe Chardonnay shines with its pale-yellow color, illuminated by greenish reflections. On the nose, notes of lemon zest, ripe apricot, and a hint of elderflower unfold, creating a complex aromatic experience. Upon tasting, this Chardonnay stands out for its freshness and velvety body, balanced by a pleasant minerality that makes it irresistible.
The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is an incredible wine, expressing the true essence of the Nebbiolo grape in its finest form from the Barolo region. Aromas of red cherry, strawberry, currant, and flowers create a vibrant, juicy red with extraordinary harmony and structure. On the palate, it is elegant and well-structured, with silky tannins and a lively energy that envelops each sip, offering a perfect balance between freshness and persistence.
RUMOR is a certified organic, vegan, and gluten-free French rosé, crafted from 100% organic grapes sourced from a highly selective group of the finest vineyards in the Côtes de Provence. It delivers an elegant, light, and balanced profile, with a perfect pale pink hue and subtle notes of white flowers and citrus. With a bit of air, the aromas evolve into hints of peach and pomelo. The palate is clean and unfolds gracefully to a smooth finish, leaving bright citrus notes.

Welcome to amfAR Venezia!
We are deeply grateful to you and our many friends and supporters across Italy for so generously supporting amfAR’s lifesaving work. Our ties to this wonderful country have been further strengthened by the recent addition to our staff of our new Director of Research, Dr. Andrea Gramatica, who hails from Milan.
Thanks in large part to research supported by amfAR, we learned long ago how to use anti-HIV drugs to prevent mothers from transmitting HIV to their children. Since availability of these lifesaving drugs varies widely, however, too many children are still being born with the virus. And, shockingly, children account for 12% of all AIDS-related deaths, even though they make up only 3% of people living with HIV.
More than 40 years into this pandemic, no child should die of AIDS. For all people living with the virus (including 140,000 here in Italy) and fortunate enough to have access to treatment, these medications must be taken every day for life. To change that, and to end the HIV/AIDS pandemic, we need a cure.
That’s why we’re here tonight. The funds we raise at amfAR Venezia will advance the efforts of dedicated researchers in Europe, the U.S., and around the world who are striving to develop a cure. With your continued support, we are confident they will succeed.
To our generous sponsors, Event Chairs, and everyone who has made this gala possible, we extend our grateful appreciation. As always, amfAR’s work and achievements are driven by our unwavering determination to end AIDS and by your commitment and generosity, for which we are profoundly grateful.
Grazie mille.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1951, JULIAN SCHNABEL moved with his family to Brownsville, Texas, in 1965. He attended the University of Houston from 1969 to 1973 and, after receiving a BFA, returned to New York City to participate in the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program.
His first solo painting exhibition took place at the Mary Boone Gallery in New York City in February 1979. Schnabel’s paintings, sculptures, and works on paper have been the subject of numerous international exhibitions. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Guggenheim Museum, New York and Bilbao; Tate Gallery, London; and Centre Pompidou, Paris, to list a few.
His multidisciplinary practice extends beyond painting to include sculpture, architecture, furniture, and film. In 1996 Schnabel wrote and directed Basquiat, an official selection of the 1996 Venice International Film Festival. Schnabel’s second film, Before Night Falls, based on the life of exiled Cuban novelist Reinaldo Arenas, won the 2000 Venice International Film Festival Grand Jury Prize and its star, Javier Bardem, won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor. For The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007), Schnabel received the award for Best Director at Cannes as well as Best Director at the Golden Globes, where the film won Best Film in a Foreign Language. The film was also nominated for four Oscars. That same year, he made a film of Lou Reed’s Berlin concert at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. His 2010 film Miral won the UNESCO as well as the UNICEF Award at Venice. At Eternity’s Gate world-premiered at Venice in 2018, where Willem Dafoe won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor and went on to earn Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. This year, Schnabel is receiving the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, which is premiering his new film, In the Hand of Dante, starring Oscar Isaac, Gal Gadot, Gerard Bulter, John Malkovich, and Jason Momoa, on Wednesday, September 3.
Schnabel has been a longtime and generous supporter of amfAR, notably donating auction items to raise money for the Foundation’s lifesaving research: a plate portrait at amfAR Gala Cannes in 2008 and a painting, Untitled (Landscape), at amfAR Gala New York in 2020, among others. For his commitment to helping end the HIV pandemic, he was honored by amfAR at its 2008 New York Gala and received the amfAR Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS at TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art in 2001. Julian Schnabel currently lives and works in New York City and Montauk.
AVA MAX has never compromised or pandered to trends, comments, or opinions. Instead, the Albanian-American, Los Angeles-based multi-Platinum maverick singer, songwriter, and producer has always delivered unapologetic, yet undeniable pop evocative of her confident and charismatic presence. By speaking her mind, showcasing a skyscraper-size voice, and pulling no punches, she has established herself as a pop outlier without comparison.
She made a seismic impact with her 2018 breakout “Sweet but Psycho,” picking up a 4x Platinum certification and cracking the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. A string of chart-shaking bangers followed, including the 2x Platinum “Kings & Queens,” Platinum staples “So Am I,” “My Head & My Heart,” “The Motto” (with Tiësto), and the Gold-certified “Salt.”
On the heels of her Platinum debut album Heaven & Hell in 2020, she served up the acclaimed Diamonds & Dancefloors, hailed by Rolling Stone as “euphoric pop.” V Magazine raved, “Max’s second album, 2023’s Diamonds & Dancefloors, cranks up the glitz and glam even further,” and EUPHORIA. Magazine rated it “4-out-of-5 stars” and assured, “Ava Max proves on Diamonds & Dancefloors that she can deliver a new fresh sound that still sounds like her, but different.”
Along the way, she sold out headline tours on multiple continents and contributed music to the GRAMMY Award-winning Barbie the Album, which accompanied the bigscreen blockbuster Barbie
Now, Ava makes a statement by naming her third full-length album, Don’t Click Play (Atlantic Records). In this body of work, you can hear a woman embracing her power and stepping into the artist she was always meant to be. It’s not just a collection of songs, it’s a middle finger to every box people tried to put her in. It’s not just an album, it’s a declaration. The project was built during a time of heartbreak, betrayal, and personal reinvention, and it shows. She returned to the studio not to escape the pain, but to face it head-on. Ava says, “But this entire album was made to prove people wrong.” With Don’t Click Play, she doesn’t just push back the narrative—she kicks the door down. It’s raw, it’s personal, and it still goes hard.
PARIS JACKSON knows exactly who she is. Embodying alternative in the most authentic sense, jackson is an American actress, musician, and model.
In 2020, she released her debut solo album wilted with Republic Records. Enrapturing listeners, it landed at No. 1 on the iTunes U.S. Alternative Albums Chart and earned praise from NPR, Rolling Stone, Associated Press, Entertainment Weekly, E! News, People, NME, NYLON, Refinery29, and WWD, among many others. jackson also made her late-night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a performance of “let down.” With a Fender Telecaster plugged in and the amps turned all the way up, she sings the purest kind of truth over distorted chords without filter or apology.
She maintained her momentum in 2021 with The Struts’ collab, “Low Key In Love,” before presenting the lost EP as a surprise gift for fans. paris has since released a series of singles, including “hit your knees.”
“I’m just a musician,” she declares. “It’s who I am. I love to create. That’s it in the simplest form. At the end of the day, I’m happiest when I’m writing, recording, releasing, and playing live. It’s why I do it. It’s all love.”
paris is the kind of musician who will continue to explore and evolve her artistry and sound, because she connects straight from the heart and to the heart. paris performed at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and BottleRock Napa Valley in 2023 and served as direct support on Incubus’s U.S. tour.
As an actress, paris made her acting debut with a guest-starring role on Lee Daniels’ Fox series Star. She made her feature film debut opposite David Oyelowo and Joel Edgerton in Gringo, and went on to play roles in Habit, The Space Between, and Sex Appeal, as well as in Ryan Murphy’s anthology series American Horror Stories, Donald Glover’s Swarm, and ABC’s Doctor Odyssey. Up next, paris will be starring in One Spoon of Chocolate and Skinemax
Passionate about philanthropy, she is a strong supporter of EqualizeHer, an initiative aiming for equal representation of women in the music industry; Heal Los Angeles Foundation, an organization founded by Loyola Marymount University students who were inspired by her late father’s philanthropic endeavors; the Child Mind Institute, a youth-centered mental health organization; and Indigenous rights, including the #NoDAPL movement and the Free Red Fawn Movement.
paris jackson continues to make her mark, combining her creative expression with her fierce advocacy, proving that she is a true force in the entertainment world and beyond.

Giant Crocodile, 2007
100% Atoxic polyethylene plastic 205.1 in. x 79.1 in. x 31.1 in. / 521 cm. x 201 cm. x 79 cm.
The Cracking Art movement was born in 1993 with the intention to radically change the history of art through a strong social and environmental commitment. The revolutionary use of plastic materials investigates the close relationship between natural and artificial reality. The group dimension doesn’t limit each individual artist’s creativity: Each member of the movement also works independently to develop their own interpretation of contemporary problems and tensions.
The artworks are designed to inspire a community-wide conversation about the anthropic effect on the natural environment through engaging performative projects in which out-of-scale installations—such as the world-renowned colored animals— invade all kind of spaces, from those that are normally dedicated to art exhibits to unexpected everyday places.
The crocodile is a reptile that brings to mind the ancestral creatures that inhabited the planet before humans—living beings that speak of the power and uncontrollability of nature’s forces. Culture has attributed multiple symbols to this animal: From sacred representations to fairy tale figures, the crocodile tells stories in which everyone can find a reflection of themselves, allowing them to engage with the planet’s energies. Giant Crocodile is a limited-edition artwork produced in eight copies per color (eight colors), signed and numbered.
Giant Crocodile is available in the following colors: white, yellow, orange, pink, blue, light blue, green, and black.

Andy Warhol’s iconic images are deeply engrained in the global consciousness. What is less well known about the artist is that the sale of his works has raised millions of dollars for amfAR. But Warhol’s support of amfAR went beyond the generous donation of his artworks—in 1986, he hosted one of amfAR’s earliest fundraising events at the New York Academy of Art.
The pop artist held a lifelong fascination with fame, both courting it himself while choosing to feature pop culture’s most well-known figures in various works—Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Queen Elizabeth II, Mickey Mouse, and Elizabeth Taylor, amfAR’s Founding International Chairman.
Iconic in her own right, Elizabeth Taylor was an object of fascination for the artist. Warhol produced many works featuring Elizabeth—as the characters she played in National Velvet and Cleopatra, as well as with the men in her life. Created in 1964 (though dated ’66 in the artwork), Liz captures the Oscar-winning actress at the height of her career.

Spanning—and sometimes combining—sculpture, video, painting, and drawing, Stefan Brüggemann’s work deploys text in conceptual installations rich with biting social critique and a post-Pop aesthetic.
Born in Mexico City and working between Mexico, London, and Ibiza, the artist’s oeuvre is characterized by an ironic conflation of Conceptualism and Minimalism. In this way, Brüggemann’s practice sits outside the canon of the conceptual artists practicing in the 1960s and 1970s, who sought dematerialization and rejected the commercialization of art. Instead his aesthetic is refined and luxurious, while maintaining a punk attitude.
The philosophy of language is a crucial tenet in Brüggemann’s practice, in which text functions as a fluid medium, utilized for both form and meaning; his choice of words typically provocative, acerbic, and topical. Brüggemann’s masterful wordplay and conceptual rigor coalesce to create a bold and pertinent body of work focusing on themes of appropriation and displacement.

Celebrated artist, filmmaker, and longtime amfAR supporter Julian Schnabel is offering an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a highly sought-after commissioned plate portrait, created in his unique practice of painting on broken plates. Schnabel’s plate portraits belong to the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and the Tate Modern, London; among others, as well as in numerous private collections. The commissioned work will be a portrait of the winning bidder.
Schnabel’s use of preexisting materials not traditionally used in art making, varied painting surfaces, and inventive modes of construction were pivotal in the reemergence of painting in the United States in the late 1970s and the rest of the world. Throughout his practice, he has sustained the use of objets trouvés and chancebased processes, transforming painting and opening the door for new generations of young painters.
In 1978 Schnabel traveled throughout Europe and in Barcelona was particularly moved by the architecture of Antoni Gaudí. That same year he made his first plate painting, The Patients and the Doctors. Throughout the 1980s, he gained international recognition for these distinctive and emotionally evocative large-scale paintings that incorporate broken ceramic plates, and he is known for painting on other unusual materials as well. The plate portraits have since become iconic within the contemporary art world. Some of his subjects include Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Claude Picasso, William Gaddis, Rashid Johnson, Vanessa Paradis, Azzedine Alaïa, and Tina Chow, whose plate portrait was exhibited next to Van Gogh’s Portrait de l’artiste in Schnabel’s show at the the Musée d’Orsay, Paris in 2018.

Jim Dine (b. 1935, Cincinnati) is an acclaimed American artist whose prolific, sevendecade career has left an indelible mark on modern and contemporary art. Emerging in the late 1950s as a pioneering figure of the Happenings movement, Dine helped reshape the boundaries between art and performance with his experimental live actions across New York City. Throughout his career, he has continued to defy categorization, engaging with movements such as Neo-Dada, Pop Art, and NeoExpressionism while forging a distinctly personal path.
Dine’s multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, assemblage, drawing, printmaking, performance, and poetry. Notably, poetry is central to his creative vision; he has published more than a dozen books of poems and frequently performs readings, echoing the spirit of his early happenings. Deeply autobiographical, his work is characterized by recurring motifs—tools, robes, and hearts—that serve as personal symbols and metaphors. The heart is one of Dine’s most recognizable icons, offering the artist an architecture, or coat of arms, on which to explore the most personal and profound moments of his life.
Renowned for his technical mastery and constant innovation, Dine has exhibited widely, with work held in major museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and the Guggenheim in New York; the Centre Pompidou in Paris; the British Museum and Tate Britain in London; and the Albertina in Vienna, among many others. His art has been the focus of over 300 solo exhibitions around the world, at institutions such as the Stedelijk Museum, MoMA, the Guggenheim, the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Centre Pompidou, and the Palazzo delle Esposizioni.
Jim Dine’s ever-evolving body of work reflects an ongoing exploration of self, memory, and material, manifesting in a highly distinctive visual language that continues to engage and inspire audiences worldwide.

Dr. Esther Mahlangu (b. 1935) is the globally acclaimed visual artist and muchloved cultural ambassador of the Ndebele nation. Now 89, she has made a valuable contribution to contemporary art for over seven decades.
Arguably South Africa’s most globally known visual artist, Esther Mahlangu’s innovative and disruptive spirit, and willingness to travel and collaborate with celebrities, global brands, museums, and the like, has resulted in a large following that extends way beyond the art sector.
Esther Mahlangu is one of a few visual artists who has successfully managed to bridge the “traditional” and “contemporary” art worlds. While remaining deeply rooted in her traditional Ndebele culture, she is also a “woman of the world” who has spent considerable amounts of time working in many of the world’s greatest cities. Taught the design principles of the Ndebele nation by her mother and grandmother when she was only 10 years old, she reimagined these designs, which were typically reserved for the decoration of houses, to more contemporary platforms.
This has allowed her to expose her artworks to large global audiences, which in turn has generated extensive exposure resulting in an almost pop icon-type status, which few visual artists have been able to attain.
Dr. Mahlangu’s valuable contribution has not gone unnoticed. She has received multiple commendations, including three honorary doctorates; the rank of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, France’s prestigious cultural distinction; recognition as a Living Legend and induction into South Africa’s Gallery of Legends; and numerous others.
Her artworks grace many of the world’s most respected museums, corporate, and private collections, and many experts believe that no serious African contemporary art collection can be considered complete without one of her artworks. Even at this advanced stage in her career, Dr. Mahlangu continues to reinvent her practice with a willingness to explore new collaborations and new media. Dr. Mahlangu’s global success is a powerful inspiration to us all of what can be achieved through talent, commitment, and determination despite enormous challenges.

Landon Metz’s practice explores the dissolution of boundaries between presence and absence, form and formlessness, object and subject. Known for his painting and durational work, Metz approaches authorship holistically, allowing form to emerge organically through process rather than control.
Recent works have shifted toward portraiture, film, sound, and poetry, reflecting an ongoing inquiry into intimacy, attention, and the nature of self. Regardless of medium, his practice centers on awareness, offering a space for stillness and transformation.

On a secluded private peninsula in the untouched province of Phu Yen, Zannier Bãi San Hô is a sanctuary of refined simplicity, stretching across 98 hectares of lush greenery and a pristine coral bay. Its mile-long white sand beach, shimmering under some of Vietnam’s most breathtaking sunrises, sets the tone for a journey of restoration and discovery.
This retreat, six (6) days and five (5) nights for up to four (4) guests, promises a harmonious balance of relaxation, cultural immersion, and wellness. You will stay in a spacious two-bedroom Hill Pool Villa, offering 91 sqm (980 sq ft) of understated luxury with sweeping views over the bay and all-inclusive benefits.
Your culinary journey reveals the essence of Vietnamese gastronomy: Bà Hai immerses you in the soulful recipes of Grandma Hai-style regional cooking; Làng Chài, with its rustic thatched huts by the beach, serves the day’s catch; while Nhà Ở offers panoramic views and a mix of Southeast Asian and international flavors.
At the heart of your experience is the Zannier Wellness Programme, a fiveday immersion at the resort’s tranquil Hoa Sen Spa starting and ending with a personalized wellness consultation. Inspired by the five elements—Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Spirit—each day follows a curated rhythm of movement, nourishment, and holistic healing. Sunrise yoga, restorative mat Pilates, and meditative nature walks awaken body and mind, while herbal baths, vibrational sound healing, and Vietnamese tea ceremonies ground you in ancient traditions. Guided Thung Chai boat adventures, rice planting rituals, a visit with a Vietnamese holistic health alchemist, and lifestyle tours invite you to connect with Vietnam’s cultural heritage.
Boundless opportunities await—from cycling to the surrounding village, kayaking along the lagoon, to family-friendly activities such as pétanque, water sports, tennis, and beach volleyball. Or simply sink into the laid-back charm of Bãi San Hô’s private beach and infinity pool.
This journey is more than a retreat—it is an awakening of the senses, where Vietnam’s cultural richness meets Zannier Hotels’ art of slow living.

For 40 years, amfAR has funded research that has revolutionized the treatment and prevention of HIV, benefited diseases beyond the virus, and forged a path toward a cure that could end AIDS once and for all. These advances would not be possible without the generosity of supporters like you. Here are some of the ways your generosity has helped make an impact.
• Lifesaving treatment: amfAR’s research has contributed to the development of four of the six main classes of antiretroviral drugs in use today.
• HIV transmission: amfAR’s first international research grant, awarded in 1987, supported a landmark study in Kenya that showed that HIV transmission can occur from females to males, and vice versa.
• CCR5, a key protein: amfAR funded research showing that HIV almost always requires a protein called CCR5 to enter and infect cells. This breakthrough led to the development of the antiHIV drug maraviroc, which blocks CCR5.
• Curing HIV: The discovery of CCR5 paved the way to the first case of an HIV cure in 2008. This was made possible by a stem cell transplant using donor cells lacking the CCR5 gene. Several people have since been cured using the same method.
• Mother-to-child HIV transmission: amfAR pioneered research that led to the use of antiretroviral drugs to block mother-to-child HIV transmission. As a result, this mode of transmission has been all but eliminated in many parts of the world.
• Other medical breakthroughs: AIDS research is providing insights into a range of diseases, their causes, and their treatment. Better diagnostic methods, therapies to restore the immune system, newer preventive antibiotics and drugs, and new treatments for infectious diseases and cancer were all developed in the course of AIDS research.

More than 40 million people worldwide are living with HIV.
Roughly 23% of them (9 million) still don’t have access to lifesaving treatment.
Children under the age of 15 are the age group least likely to be on treatment.
As a result, children account for 12% of all AIDS-related deaths, even though they make up only 3% of people living with HIV.
To date, 10 people have been cured of HIV, but the method used—stem cell transplantation—cannot be made widely accessible.
Long-acting injectable PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)—a medication that prevents HIV—is approved for use in multiple countries, including Italy.
Italy is the ninth largest public donor to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and has contributed a total of €1.35 billion to date.
Your gift to amfAR today funds innovative scientists driving breakthroughs in cure research.
