The Altrincham Garrick YOUR Local Playhouse The Altrincham Garrick is your local Playhouse, self-funded, and one of the premier entertainment facilities in South Manchester.

Our 401 seater auditorium is comfortable, with excellent leg room, and, wherever seated, you are assured a view equivalent to the highest priced stalls of larger traditional city centre theatres.

Our small theatre car park, offers FREE PARKING and you are sure of a warm welcome from all of our volunteers and staff in our Box Ofce, Foyer and the Bar. We have all our own in-house facilities... a professional workshop creating our own scenery, as well as lighting, sound, props and wardrobe departments, with equipment the envy of many other theatres.

The Altrincham Garrick offers one of the best live performance venues in the area - not only on our Main Stage but also in our highly acclaimed smaller Lauriston STUDIO Theatre.

As well as hosting some great visiting productions we have our own season of drama/comedy/musical productions and throughout the season these productions have constantly received high praise from both local and Manchester critics - as well as being hugely popular with our audiences.

The Garrick attracts some of the best local performers from surrounding areas, as well as professional directors & creative talent.

Members who join the Garrick not only get season discounts for ALL our own productions, but many join to get involved on & off stage. Members of all ages & abilities have discovered a warm welcome as well as new challenges with many younger members nding the Garrick a springboard to future careers.

Booking Fees There is a £2.00 transaction fee for each individual payment made by telephone or online.

Disabled Facilities and Wheelchair Access We do require advanced booking for Wheelchair users and please let our Box Ofce know any special requirements when booking.

Wheelchair spaces are available in the Auditorium and there are toilets and a lift for disabled patrons.

The main auditorium can accommodate 4 wheelchairs and the Lauriston, 4 wheelchairs.

There are four disabled parking spaces, two to the left of the Playhouse entrance and two in front of the foyer. Please display permits at all times and only use these spaces if you have a current permit.

Garrick Playhouse Bar The Bar will be open from 6.45pm on performance nights, so please have a drink before the show and order your interval drinks to avoid the crush.

The Bar is also open after the show, usually until 11.00pm.

Throughout the year, the classes work towards the goal of putting their production onto the stage. The year starts with stage craft, skills and audition preparation, giving them the opportunity to enhance and develop their performance skills. Then, it's audition time and once the play is cast, the rehearsals start and all the elements of the show are put together. Throughout this process they learn valuable skills required when rehearsing and putting on a production, whilst being surrounded by fun and laughter.

First staged in Manchester in 1987, the play is about the relationships between mothers and daughters, and explores the themes of independence, growing up and secrets.

If you are looking for something more exciting to tickle your theatrical taste buds, why not throw caution to the wind and visit our smaller theatre, The Lauriston STUDIO. The STUDIO is perfect for that feeling of being part of the action where you can experience the intimacy of the story telling.

Here you can get up close and personal with the actors as they wow you with their performances. We do not allow touching or the feeding of our actors however as some of them have been known to bite !

The STUDIO has its own private entrance onto the car park and patrons have full use of the Garrick Bar and all our facilities in the main building. The auditorium seats approximately 50 people comfortably and is accessible for wheelchairs.

Can a lid be kept on the couples embarrassing secret with a newspaper photographer due to arrive any second, a missing housekeeper and a doorbell that doesn't stop ringing?

This vibrant production with a mainly young cast only premiered in March and will be lmed during its’ run at Sadler’s Wells during September.

Plucky young Aladdin has fallen for the beautiful Princess Balroubador, daughter of the nancially embarrassed Emperor of China. However, wooing his love may not be easy, as the Emperor has his own ideas about the sort of man Balroubador should marry. On top of this, the evil Abanazer intends to use Aladdin to secure the Magic Lamp containing an all powerful Genie that will make him Master of The Universe.

With help from his mother, Widow Twankey , and brother Wishee Washee, will Aladdin get the girl and stop Abanazer fullling his evil desires?

The play is set in a Nursing Home somewhere in Ireland in 2016. It’s a Friday morning and some of the residents are being moved to new nursing homes in different parts of Ireland for various reasons and for Mary O’Toole, Mary O’Neill and Mary O’Brien it’s the end of an era.

The classic musical by Lionel Bart, based on the Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist will be brought to life on the stage for Ashton’s school show.

We will transport you to the streets of Victorian England where you’ll meet Oliver, an orphan who escapes to London and he becomes part of a group of pickpockets led by the infamous Fagin. Oliver is caught for a crime he did not commit, however the kind Mr Brownlow takes pity on him. Because of last years demand, GAPA Summer School will be held at Altrincham Garrick Playhouse for two separate weeks during the 2020 Summer holidays.

Each course of the week we will introduce the participants to a range of stage skills as part of putting together a performance that will be shown back to parents, friends and family on the final day.

If you wish to enrol your child for either week, please speak to our box office staff or contact the Playhouse for further information and an application form.

Each Summer School will run Monday to Friday from 10.00am until 4.00pm and on each Friday evening, the children will put on a performance at 5.30pm for parents/guardians.
