Town Council Race Takes Shape Ahead of November Election By Eric O'Connell Staff Writer CLINTON
With Election Day less than three months away, the Harbor News caught up with the four candidates running for the three open seats on the Town Council. Last month, Clinton Republicans and Democrats each officially announced their respective slates for the 2025 election. The slates are headlined by the nomina-
tions of Republicans Jerry Dunn and Mike Shove and Democrats Carrie Allen and Chris Passante for the three open council seats. Shove, Allen, and Passante are all incumbents. All elected will serve a four-year term. The council is comprised of seven seats, with members serving staggered terms to ensure the entire council is not replaced in a single election. However, the 2025 election will determine which party holds a majority on
the council for the next two years. The council has held a Democratic majority since the 2023 election. While local elections often receive less attention than presidential races, they play a critical role in the day-to-day lives of Clinton residents. Town Council members set policies, determine the town’s direction, approve the See Town Council Race page 10
