Aloha Seamonkeys!

It’s December, the holiday season is here! I’m so relieved finals week is over, and I hope you all are taking time for yourselves. It is also time for a new newsletter! This newsletter includes information about this month’s calendar, another letter from your LTG, recognition, upcoming international contests, articles and visuals from FRS and some more service events, etc. Some of our most anticipated and major division events have passed, and to say that I miss them would be an understatement. The past RTC and FRS are some of my fondest memories that I will treasure for many years to come. I would like to thank firstly, our snazziest LTG Jessica and Mrs. Santee, the other Region 5 LTGs, and the CNH District for all the effort and time they put in to make them possible. Thank you to the division advisors and volunteers for their time to chaperone, our spirit captain Alyssa for her spirit, and so many others that were behind these incredible events For you Seamonkeys, thank you for your continued enthusiasm for service and cheering with us!

As we move into a new phase of the Key Club term, I encourage you all to keep serving. We are getting close to the division goals, and I know we can do it! Keep an eye out, as the DLT still have a lot in store. I hope you all get to spend time with your friends and family, and take care! See you next year, seamonkeys! :)

ALOHA SEAMONKEYS,

We are now officially done with the first semester! I hope now everyone can ease up now that we have transitioned out of midterms. Can you believe it Seamonkeys? It is currently the month of December, and we are reaching a point in time where we will soon find out who the next LTG elect will be to serve you snazzy seamonkeys for the next term. First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone that attended CTC. It was enjoyable being able to share the wisdom and experience that I have gained after serving our division for a good 8 months now. Hopefully, you are looking forward to taking the opportunity to run for LTG!

With the Key Club season steadily slowing down, I encourage you all to still be involved in your clubs AND on the division level. If you haven’t done so already, be sure that you become a dues paid member to ensure that you secure the progress that you currently have with your service hours. Remember, in order to be a good standing member and to be able to participate in the Member Recognition Program, you must be dues paid AND reach the 50 hour minimum. If you’re looking to be recognized at DCON 2023, now is the time to start picking up the pace on getting that service and referring to the MRP rubric!

Of course, for winter break also focus on getting that well deserved rest. Hang out with friends and family, binge watch that Netflix show you’ve been procrastinating on finishing, and all in all SLEEP IN. It’s winter break! Self care is an absolute must. Well Seamonkeys, that’s about all I have for this letter. It is getting quite cold out and it is also flu season, so make sure that before you head out you have a warm jacket on hand, and that you take your vitamins consistently! I wish you all an amazing winter break Seamonkeys. Be sure to stay safe, stay hydrated, rest up, and of course STAY SNAZZY.

FALL RALLY SOUTH

"FRS was truly an amazing experience. Although it was my first and last time, it felt so surreal to be on that stage and see the spirit of my own division. If you didn't get to attend, I highly recommend you consider next year as our return to FRS was iconic! We may have not gotten the spirit stick, but you are all winners in my heart <3"

FALL RALLY SOUTH

"Fall Rally was so fun! Although we were exhausted from practicing cheers and sleeping for only 3 hours, spending the day with friends, seeing all of the other division's sick spirit gear, and listening to their cheers was super rewarding. To all the key clubbers that will attend next year, make sure to practice your cheers and give the seamonkeys justice!”

LATERN FESTIVAL

"This event was so much fun! I worked both the morning shift and the evening shift. It was a long time, but it was worth it. The scenery was beautiful and when all of the vendors came, there was so many things to buy. I got to see a lot of ducks and geese. My boyfriend even tried to fight one (the goose is okay). I really want to do this again next year, I had so much fun! :)"

CLARK CONNNECTIONS FRIENDSGIVING

""I went to our collaboration event with Clark Connections and I thought that it was very insightful and educating for us! We taught special education students how to make dog toys and it was very refreshing to meet with kids who are usually invisible in the school. They all had beautiful hearts and it was so cool being able to see the braids they made!"

“"i participated in friendsgiving and i thought it was a great opportunity. i liked making the dog toys as it was pretty easy and i could multitask while doing it. although i was nervous when the other students came in, it was really nice to meet them. i had the most playing just dance with them and was amazed by their awesome skills and passion when dancing. i would definitely sign up for this event again as i thought it was fun and was a healthy experience for the students who experienced in friendsgiving."

PREFERRED CHARITIES

My name is Aidan Operana and I am proudly serving as the 2022-2023 D28S Fundraising Coordinator! My home club is Sierra Vista Key Club where I serve as the Executive Vice President. A few of my hobbies are grappling (wrestling and BJJ), watching anime, and stressing about the future! If your club is planning to collaborate with the division for fundraising, please let me know as I will be your point of contact.

Our goal this year is to raise $2500 as a division towards the Pediatric Trauma Program and the YES Initiative. This goal is reasonable if we work together to share ideas and resources and independently put forth consistent efforts. In fact, I think that as a division, we have the talent and the drive to surpass this goal! However, even a small amount of money can go a long way in helping a myriad of people when put into the right hands.
