If there’s one thing I would like to challenge you all to do this month, it would be to take opportunities. When another school year starts, I believe that it is almost like another New Year! Opportunities are everywhere, like in this newsletter! You just have to look. Thank you for reading, and take care, seamonkeys!

Aloha Seamonkeys! Welcome to August’s issue of Snazzy Seamonkey! Summer break is waning down, and it is about time for the new school year. I am super nervous for junior year for what work is to come, but I’m also excited to see friends and Key Club meetings again! I remember when I went to my first in-person Key Club meeting. The room was full of students bustling with chatter for the meeting to start, and I had to watch my feet to not step on students sitting on the floor. I hope the division will be able to get just as many members as last term and more, so go officers!Thisnewsletter is full of updates and service, so please read ahead to see what the division has been working on this month! There is also a special feature from the DLT this month…can you guess who it is? I would also like to mention that the last newsletter earned a spotlight from the CNH District News Editor Joanne Do, which I was pleasantly surprised by! I can not be more grateful and creatively pushed to do more. :)

School starts in just a few days (sadly) so I hope you’re all ready to pursue the new school year! It felt like summer went by so fast, and I’m not really ready for it to end yet. However, to put it into a more positive perspective, the start of the school year means more incoming members for our division! Be sure to give our new Key Clubbers a warm welcome, and show them what Key Club is all about. That being said, are you ready for club rush season? Club rush is YOUR opportunity to attract more members, and welcome them to the Seamonkey family! It’s always so exciting to see new faces at DCMs, and watch the growth of these new leaders that we’ll have.

will definitely be THE year for our division. With Regional Training Conference making a comeback in October 2022, our Fall Rally South Six Flags trip not too long after, and many socials/service projects that the DLT and I have been preparing for, there will be so much for you to look forward to. Be prepared Seamonkeys, as you never know what will be coming your way! Well that’s a good point for me to end this letter, so keep your eyes PEELED for any new content we may release. In the meantime, I wish you all the best going into the new school year. Be sure to stay safe, stay hydrated, brace yourself, and of course STAY

This year, I had the chance to attend ConventionInternationalonline!Iam very happy that they made ICON much more accessible to members, and that even though I wasn't able to attend physically, I was still able to watch everything from home. Throughout the entirety of ICON, I attended several workshops such as College 101, got to hear wise words from Sal Khan the creator of Khan Academy, How to be a Lieutenant Governor, as well as witness caucus and speeches during the House of Delegates, where candidates for International Board were able to talk about their passion and love for Key Club. It was a very interesting experience, and I felt involved although I was still at home. For those of you that are interested in attending ConventionInternationalinthefuture, the 2023 ICON will be held in Anaheim, California! Or even if you're not able to make it, you can still join virtually and mark it off for one of the requirements on the Member Recognition Program

“A few days ago I had revisited the Caesar’s Palace Bacchanal Buffet with my family. We enjoyed foods that we haven’t in a while and later that night spent some time at the suite before going home. Not only that, we took some pictures that created many memories. It’s been a while since I spent some quality time with my family as a whole and I look forward to it happening again soon!”

“i came back to kona on june 19th with my little sister and so far it’s been a whole adventure with all my aunties, uncles, and cousins! everyday is always chaotic and funny, however you never know what’s going to happen next! i loved going back to kona ever since i was three and so far this year i’ve been going to graduation parties, the beach, shopping, riding golf carts, hilo, etc.”

“We had our June meeting held on Google meets where we discussed plans for this key club term. We went over future fundraisers, and confirmed service events that will be happening later in the year. I had shown the board the t-shirt design for this term and had gotten several new plans for what we're going to do for our freshman orientation promotion. We've went over several concerns we had altogether and the future looks bright for Sierra Vista Key Club!”

“I started crocheting during the school year as part of the Warming Up America rolling service event. I had a lot of fun making those crochet squares, and took a liking to it. Ever since summer break began, I've been able to learn many different crochet patterns and shapes. I've finished a lot of projects, with my most recent being a beanie!”

“This month I am taking a break from Key Club duties and vacationing. I went to Australia and Hawaii with my family for a couple of weeks. My favorite part had to be the zoo/aquarium in Sydney. I loved seeing all the different kinds of jellyfish. Once I get back I plan to find get more summer service hours and finishing up my five charity miles.”

The Spotlight on Service Program, or the SOSP, is a way for clubs around the CNH District to get recognition for their acts of service. For each month, there is a focus for service, and Key Clubs are encouraged to participate in the SOSP by hosting service events that align with the month’s focus. Those who are chosen from the SOSP are showcased in the monthly CNH District newsletter. All it takes is filling out a simple google form to submit your service projects, which is due every 5th of the month.

Help provide your community with basic needs! Clothing or food drives are perfect service projects for the month of giving. Let’s ensure that all people have the proper necessities to live.

With school just around the corner, children are getting ready for their first day of school, excited to learn and expand their knowledge on a variety of subjects. Unfortunately, not many have the privilege of a good education or cannot afford their basic school materials. For this month’s SOSP focus, it is up to us CNH Bees to improve the quality of education for children around the world, as learning should not come with any restrictions.

Our goal this year is to raise $2500 as a division towards the Pediatric Trauma Program and the YES Initiative. This goal is reasonable if we work together to share ideas and resources and independently put forth consistent efforts. In fact, I think that as a division, we have the talent and the drive to surpass this goal! However, even a small amount of money can go a long way in helping a myriad of people when put into the right hands.
