INTERNATIONAL, DISTRICT, & DIVISION INFORMATION
Aloha Seamonkeys! It is now mid-October..and you know what that means…time for another issue of Snazzy Seamonkeys! This month also marks the end of the second quarter of the Key Club 2022-2023 term, which did not phase me until now. Unbelievable how time passes by so fast! I can still remember when I was announced Division News Editor. Anyhow, this month is one of the busiest months in terms of Key Club, and so this newsletter contains a bunch of division updates and events coming up in addition to your club’s service events!
The theme for this newsletter is space themed to highlight RTC! have included final information about RTC and Fall Rally South (FRS)here, so please be on the lookout for information not only in this newsletter, but also on Instagram, for essentials to pack, things that should be avoided, scheduling, etc. These events are both unforgettable and significant events in Key Club, and as I’ve said before, I can’t wait to experience them! They are known to be a ‘Key Club Moment’ for many, and I won’t be surprised if they will be mine, too, as the Region 5 LTG’s worked incredibly hard to put this together.
On another note, the District Contests are finalized and open to apply for! I’d like to emphasize this, as it is a way for you, regardless of your position, or your club, to earn recognition for service this term, you just have to apply! I think of our division as a sort of a service powerhouse because as you can see, we have made much progress toward our goals!
To end as always, I am so proud of our division, members, officers, and especially our LTG for making everything that has happened possible. L-O-V-E I love our DIV! Thank you for listening in, and take care!! Until next time, seamonkeys :)

ALOHA SEAMONKEYS,
How have you all been since we last met? I hope you all have been taking great care of yourselves, especially with school and extracurriculars. So far, September and October have been VERY busy months for me, and to be completely honest I experienced being burnt out at one point. Juggling school and my responsibilities towards our division has been quite tough, but I’m glad that I was able to push through and still be able to be of assistance to all of you. You are all what motivate me to better serve our division, and without all your encouragement and support, I would not have been able to recover from my burn-out stage. Please be sure that with the arrival of the new quarter of the Key Club term, you take my advice of taking care of yourselves, and rewarding yourself for the hard work you have put in.
Welcome to the third quarter of the Key Club term! We have absolutely KILLED IT with quarter two, that it makes me so excited for what is in store for this quarter. To update on our division goals, our current progress is 3393.61 hours served towards the community, and about $487 raised towards the PTP/YES! Initiative. You Seamonkeys have really GRINDED during quarter two, and we are now even closer to accomplishing our division goals! Quarter 3 brings many new beginnings and our most exciting events, RTC, and Fall Rally South. It’s been two years since our last RTC and Fall Rally South attendance, so I hope you are all looking forward to it!
It is insane to think that this term is moving by so fast. Be sure to cherish every moment that you have with your fellow Key Clubbers, and make the most of the time that we have together. Quarter 2 brought upon us huge success, I wonder what Quarter 3 will bring! Well it’s time to wrap up this letter Seamonkeys. Be sure to stay safe, stay hydrated, gear up for RTC, and of course you can’t forget to STAY SNAZZY. I’ll see you in the mil-KEY-way everyone! Take care until then.

“The September DCM was so cool! I loved the theme of "Service Around the World," and getting to see everyone's culture through their clothes! Our advisor, Mr.McLean, was awarded with Advisor of the Month, which was extremely deserved. We also got to make dog toys by reusing old division shirts. It was the first time I've made dog toys, and it was surprisingly easy!"
"This DCM was great because we were able to dress up as our traditional culture!
Unfortunately I didn’t have any Filipino traditional attire, but it was great seeing everyone who were able to participate. We did concentration as our icebreaker and I got to meet a few officers/members from different clubs in our division. Towards the end, we made dog toys for service hours and it was a fun quick service project we could take part in. My favorite part of the DCM by far was being able to eat delicious pizza and our advisor, Mr. Mclean, being awarded with advisor of the month for September. Overall it’s always a pleasure attending DCM’s and I would recommend going no matter what position you have in your club! "
"The September District Council Meeting at Clark High School was an extremely fun event! I had a really good time and it was an amazing experience. It was great to meet new people from other schools/clubs and learn more about the district. I was also able to make dog toys, it was my first time and I found it fun. I also liked the pizzas they gave us at the end of the event!"
"My experience helping set up Magical Forest for the Halloween season with Clark was so fun! I truly felt like I was able to both socialize with other members from Clark, as well as help an organization like Opportunity Village out with the tasks they gave us throughout the day. For the most part, I was in a group with others and decorating the fences with cobwebs for a more spooky look! This was super fun, but I think it also gave me a really nice chance to talk more to those in my group, such as the general members from both Durango and Clark! :°D"
"The clean up/set up for Halloween at Opportunity Village was a great success! At this event, we took down, set up and put together lights and trees for the Halloween forest coming up. We were all given gloves and separated into groups to divide and conquer the forest! With my group, there was the smallest amount of people and we helped set up extra Christmas trees around the walkthrough. There was lots of dust and sharp branches hidden in those trees but it was all worth it in the end. I ended up deciding the night before this event to attend and I did not regret it one bit!"
"Cleanup at opportunity village was a great volunteer experience! From 9:00AM-12:00PM fellow key club members and I dedicated time to clean up Opportunity Village’s Magical Forest and HallOVeen for visitors. By picking up debris off the floor, and setting up the attractions, we created a cleaner setting for the Halloween event. It felt very achieving knowing that guests would have a much better experience because of our hard work."
RTC
REGION TRAINING CONFERENCE (RTC)
“Region Training Conference is put on every year by the current Lt. Governor(s) in your Region or combined Regions, usually in the first few months of the school year (September-November). At the Region Training Conference, you will meet Key Club members from other clubs in your Region. There will be informative workshops on various topics that will help you and the other members of your club. There will be Icebreakers so you can get to know members of the other clubs in the Region. You will leave this conference knowing so much more about Key Club and how to be a more effective officer, leader, and member.
Some of the workshops that may be presented at your RTC are Membership development, Service Projects, Fundraising, Member Recognition, Running for Office, Officer workshops, District Projects, Kiwanis Family, Major Emphasis Project, and Key Club 101 to name a few. You will also get more information about Fall Rally and the CNH District Convention. This is an event that you and the rest of your club members do not want to miss!”

FALL RALLY SOUTH (FRS)
“Due to the CNH District’s massive size, two Fall Rallies are held each year; one in Northern California at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, one in Southern California at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Thousands of members gather at each of the two theme parks on their selected day. At Fall Rally North and South, LTGs and Executive officers are "auctioned" off to Divisions; the winning Division is able to then spend a designated period of time with the "purchased" officer. Auction funds and a portion of the ticket sales for both events go towards the Pediatric Trauma Program. Join us to experience motivational programs, Division Spirit Rally, meet new people, support the Pediatric Trauma Program, show your Key Club spirit, and have fun!”

RULE#1:SAFE…FORNOW…
● The presidents of the top 3 clubs that have served the MOST hours within the next few months will be considered SAFE FROM BEING PIED.
RULE#2
● Meanwhile, the presidents of the remaining clubs that didn't reach the quota WILL BE PIED at the October DCM! If the LG's homeclub does not reach the quota, the LIG WILL ALSO BE PIED.
RULE#3
● Members, officers, even advisors can purchase pies for $1 each at the October DCM to pie either their president, or even another club's president! ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED TO THE PEDIATRIC TRAUMA PROGRAM.
"Pie-TP" is a little play on words with one of our preferred charities PTP! PTP, or the Pediatric Trauma Program, is a non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness for unintentional injuries in kids. Pediatric trauma is actually the number one cause for death in kids under the age of 14, and our goal is to lower that number. Money raised towards PTP funds for research at our partner hospitals, advanced training for doctors, and safety gear for children.
Clubs have been challenged to reach a quota of 400 SERVICE HOURS by the end of quarter 2, October 10th, 2022. The way
YOU can participate is to just keep serving our community! Progress for each club in D28S will be tracked monthly and promoted on the division Instagram.

Spotlight on Service Program, What is it?
The Spotlight on Service Program, or the SOSP, is a way for clubs around the CNH District to get recognition for their acts of service. For each month, there is a focus for service, and Key Clubs are encouraged to participate in the SOSP by hosting service events that align with the month’s focus. Those who are chosen from the SOSP are showcased in the monthly CNH District newsletter. All it takes is filling out a simple google form to submit your service projects, which is due every 5th of the month.
Resources are also available each month regarding the focus, and assist clubs with ways on how to fulfill the SOSP.
If you would like to know more about the SOSP, a calendar with each month’s focus throughout the year has been provided, and you can also look forward to the monthly manuals that the CNH District releases.

My name is Aidan Operana and I am proudly serving as the 2022-2023 D28S Fundraising Coordinator! My home club is Sierra Vista Key Club where I serve as the Executive Vice President. A few of my hobbies are grappling (wrestling and BJJ), watching anime, and stressing about the future! If your club is planning to collaborate with the division for fundraising, please let me know as I will be your point of contact.
Our goal this year is to raise $2500 as a division towards the Pediatric Trauma Program and the YES Initiative. This goal is reasonable if we work together to share ideas and resources and independently put forth consistent efforts. In fact, I think that as a division, we have the talent and the drive to surpass this goal! However, even a small amount of money can go a long way in helping a myriad of people when put into the right hands.
