Aloha Seamonkeys! Welcome to September’s issue of Snazzy Seamonkey! I am especially excited to present to you this hefty 39 page newsletter this month full of education, new challenges, updates, visuals and articles, and the introduction of the Regional Training Conference! A little more than a month into school, and I am so proud of our clubs that have kicked off progress, and I know it is only going to get better.
To emphasize what our LTG Jessica says on the next page, the Regional Training Conference (RTC) is coming up soon, and if you haven’t heard already, it is the largest Key Club RTC in the WORLD! I have never been to RTC in-person due to COVID, but I can’t wait to experience all the spirit and workshops right before my eyes. Remember to pay your dues Seamonkeys, and we’ll see you there!
That’s all I have to say for now, so thank you for checking into this month’s newsletter and I hope you are just as pumped for all the events our division and region has cooked up coming soon. Keep on serving Seamonkeys, and take care, seamonkeys!
10th
ALOHA SEAMONKEYS,
How have you all been since the last newsletter? School has started, and by now we’ve already had so much happen within the division! It is also now DUES SEASON, meaning that everyone should be paying their membership fees in order to become an official member of Key Club. Becoming a dues paid member has SO MANY benefits, such as being able to attend district wide events such as Fall Rally South and District Convention. You are also able to participate in the member recognition program, or the MRP, where you can earn recognition from the district!
Being dues paid also enables you to attend Regional Training Conference, one of our highly anticipated Key Club events. Vegas actually holds the LARGEST RTC IN THE WORLD, and you definitely would not want to miss such a big event, so be sure to PAY YOUR DUES!! The Region 5 LTGs and I have been doing so much RTC prep, that we're beyond excited to display to you guys all our hard work. It has been approximately two years since the last physical RTC, so we can consider this a grand re-opening and a historical moment of hosting the first RTC since quarantine.
We are also in the third month of the second quarter of the key club term. Man, this term is passing by so fast, and we haven’t even gotten to the big stuff yet! Keep in mind that our PIE-TP service challenge is still ongoing, so keep serving at your highest potential. Save your presidents (and maybe your LTG too) by getting those service hours in! Well Seamonkeys, as long as I love to talk to you all, it’s about time that I end this letter. I manifest for all of you to ace your tests and I wish an amazing HOCO to you all! Until the next, stay safe, stay hydrated, and of course STAY SNAZZY.

“Freshman Orientation was really fun. I enjoyed walking around the cafeteria talking to the incoming freshmen and their parents about Key Club. I also enjoyed seeing the other clubs and watching some of them perform. I thought we were really spirited by ringing the bell at each signature since I could hear it from across the cafeteria. It was also nice to see our table look so nice because of the flag, flyers, and the board. ”

“It was my first time helping out Sierra Vista Key Club for freshman orientation. As editor, I made the tri-board for our booth. Going up to freshman about our club was nerve wracking at first, but I'm glad we got a lot of sign-ups. It was funny because most parents knew about key club, but their child had no clue about it!
Kai"Our first general meeting of the school year was a blast! At first, seeing how the whole cafeteria filled up quickly, I was a little intimidated, but I was able to speak in front of all them due to the support from my board members and good energy from the general members. Everyone was so energetic for the cheers and had fun during our icebreaker. I can't wait for them to all come back for our second meeting next week!"
“I Introduced new future key~wees to Key Club! We had a bowl of Mexican candy to give out to anyone who came. A lot of parents were interested in Key Club, and I was excited to tell them all about it beside my other board members. I'm looking forward to seeing all the key-uties once club meetings start!!”
Kevin Garong SPVHS Ella Alibar SWCTA“My experience at Durango's Freshman orientation was very unique, since I've never attended one before until this year. I began by helping sign in all the Freshmen in the front lobby. The lobby was a little chaotic, but I felt very efficient and I was able to complete everything within a timely manner! After that, I was tasked to promoting Key Club in the cafeteria, and trying to get sign-ups for our club. We seemed to convince a decent number of the incoming Freshman to join, and they seemed pretty interested in getting to participate.”
"Our first general meeting was very exciting, not just because I had a very fancy fit on but we also got to see new people and got to make an announcement at our assembly that day. I’d say that this was one of my core memories, and I hope it just keeps getting better.”

PTP, or the Pediatric Trauma Program, is a non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness for unintentional injuries in kids. Pediatric trauma is actually the number one cause for death in kids under the age of 14, and our goal is to lower that number. Money raised towards PTP funds for research at our partner hospitals, advanced training for doctors, and safety gear for children.
Clubs have been challenged to reach a quota of 400 SERVICE HOURS by the end of quarter 2, October 10th, 2022. The way YOU can participate is to just keep serving our community! Progress for each club in D28S will be tracked monthly and promoted on the division Instagram.
REGION TRAINING CONFERENCE (RTC)
“Region Training Conference is put on every year by the current Lt. Governor(s) in your Region or combined Regions, usually in the first few months of the school year (September-November). At the Region Training Conference, you will meet Key Club members from other clubs in your Region. There will be informative workshops on various topics that will help you and the other members of your club. There will be Icebreakers so you can get to know members of the other clubs in the Region. You will leave this conference knowing so much more about Key Club and how to be a more effective officer, leader, and member.
Some of the workshops that may be presented at your RTC are Membership development, Service Projects, Fundraising, Member Recognition, Running for Office, Officer workshops, District Projects, Kiwanis Family, Major Emphasis Project, and Key Club 101 to name a few. Spotlight on Service Program, What is it?
The Spotlight on Service Program, or the SOSP, is a way for clubs around the CNH District to get recognition for their acts of service. For each month, there is a focus for service, and Key Clubs are encouraged to participate in the SOSP by hosting service events that align with the month’s focus. Those who are chosen from the SOSP are showcased in the monthly CNH District newsletter. All it takes is filling out a simple google form to submit your service projects, which is due every 5th of the month.
Resources are also available each month regarding the focus, and assist clubs with ways on how to fulfill the SOSP. If you would like to know more about the SOSP, a calendar with each month’s focus throughout the year has been provided, and you can also look forward to the monthly manuals that the CNH District releases.

Division 28 South Fundraising Coordinator d28s.kc.fund@gmail.com
My name is Aidan Operana and I am proudly serving as the 2022-2023 D28S
Fundraising Coordinator! My home club is Sierra Vista Key Club where I serve as the Executive Vice President. A few of my hobbies are grappling (wrestling and BJJ), watching anime, and stressing about the future! If your club is planning to collaborate with the division for fundraising, please let me know as I will be your point of contact.
Our goal this year is to raise $2500 as a division towards the Pediatric Trauma Program and the YES Initiative. This goal is reasonable if we work together to share ideas and resources and independently put forth consistent efforts. In fact, I think that as a division, we have the talent and the drive to surpass this goal! However, even a small amount of money can go a long way in helping a myriad of people when put into the right hands.
