Aloha Seamonkeys! Happy November, and happy release of the seventh division newsletter! Here are some more updates from the division, including upcoming dates, a letter from your LTG, a feature from a DLT member (guess who it is!), recognition, articles of visuals showcasing RTC, and more! Next newsletter, there will be Fall Rally visuals, so stay tuned for those!

While reflecting on some upcoming events, I’ve noticed a bit of a theme of recognition this month, which perfectly fits Thanksgiving Day in a week or so! For one, this month’s focus is on Kiwanis, so be sure to appreciate your sponsoring Kiwanis for their service! As I’ve said in the last newsletter, District Contests are finalized and open to apply for! By applying, you could be recognized for service this term. It is also induction season. Make sure you’ve paid your dues and have enough hours so that you can become a Key Club member and if you’d like to, become a club officer for next term! I’m sure there are more, but they will probably come to me later because it is getting late for me. What I do know is that I have a lot of thanks-giving to do (haha get it?)!

We are now past some of the biggest events of the term with both RTC and FRS past, which makes me a little sad now that it has ended. Nevertheless, it makes me even more proud to be serving and being surrounded by both caring and spirited members and of course, my DLT! Thank you for reading this month's newsletter and stay safe and warm seamonkeys!

ALOHA SEAMONKEYS,

We have FINALLY made it through the busiest period of the Key Club term! After a much successful RTC, and also a return to Fall Rally South, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all you seamonkeys for making these events so memorable. Although it was my first and sadly my last Fall Rally South, you all made such a long lasting impact on me as I watched you all cheer from the stage. We may not have won that spirit stick, but the spirit you all displayed at Fall Rally South makes you winners in my heart. With that, I hope you all had fun at Fall Rally South! Dripped in green in yellow, we DOMINATED Southern California, and really showed them who we are as the Seamonkeys!

Now that the Key Club term is starting to slow down a bit, please keep in mind that your will to serve doesn’t! Be sure that you are still putting in the work to serve your home, school, and communities by getting your service hours. Since we are now in the month of November, I ask for all of you, members or officers, to start considering the Member Recognition Program. MRP or the Member Recognition Program is YOUR way of gaining recognition from the district, and all winners of MRP will receive recognition at District Convention, or DCON 2023, “A Sea of Service.” Another thing worth mentioning is CONTESTS. Start applying for contests for a chance to receive an award! All contests, automatic and application based, have been updated on the CNH Cyberkey, so start NOW and don’t procrastinate if you are looking to achieve recognition!

Now that all our major events are out of the way, it’s time to start thinking about who will be my successor! Not only do I serve you guys as your LTG, but also as this year’s Candidate Training Conference Chair. CTC is open to EVERYONE that is interested in running for Lieutenant Governor, and at this event, the Region 5 team will go over our duties, the basics of serving on the district board, and also the benefits of being an LTG. If you are looking into more information on how to run for LTG, or are just looking into expanding your Key Club knowledge, attending CTC is a great way to achieve both. I can’t believe it’s already that time of the year where I am now searching for someone to take my place for the next term! I’ve said this multiple times, but time really flies, and with all the time that I have spent with you snazzy seamonkeys, I am truly proud to serve you all. Be sure to stay safe, stay hydrated,

REGIONAL TRAINING CONFERENCE

"So my RTC experience was a good one. The first thing the club did was cheering on how we felt which was so fun. After that we went to the quad and did some single vista cheers. As soon as that finished I went to the first workshop which was “Smart Procrastination” which we learned about doing things in a timely manner. After that I went to Preferred Charities by my old classmate Marcus Fang from California. I’ve tried to go to Kai’s workshop 2 times but he’s just so popular. I don’t remember exactly which one I went to for replacing Kai. Then we had a lively cheer battle against the other d28s key clubbers. We had a great time blasting out our cheers and using our voice to the max!! Of course we had a delicious lunch after which was a sandwich. Everything else from there on was basically the same. But around 3:50 we had a finals for the cheer competition. CONGRATS TO WEST TECH FOR WINNING!! All around it was a great experience and I would def recommend future key clubbers to go."

This RTC is definitely one in the books because I had a great time!! All the schools showed out and seeing all the spirit makes RTC what it is. I will say the con of RTC was how packed the hallways would get because everyone was trying to get to a workshop. Besides that the food was delicious and my favorite part of RTC was the cheer sessions! My voice suffered the consequences, but it was worth it lol. Even though we didn’t win the region stick, I’m proud of everyone who participated in RTC and making this an amazing one back in-person.

"Heyyy so my RTC experience was absolutely amazing and I had my Key Club moment! I did so many fun workshops and made new friends. I also lost my voice doing cheers, and enjoyed listening to other clubs cheers. Also the food was good too and don’t get me started on the mosh pit. Anyway, I absolutely had the time of my life at RTC and would recommend it to everyone and anyone!"

"Going to RTC is something that I will probably never forget. During RTC I was able to meet a lot of new people in my region. I was also able to experience many enjoyable workshops with some of my Key club members. Going to RTC was an amazing experience that had me going home with a giant smile. I am definitely looking forward to another event similar to this."

I had an amazing time at RTC going to all of the workshops especially Stephanie's! We made superhero capes for the community and I decorated mine with strawberries and cherries.

"RTC was such a fun and cool experience! Being able to meet with other spirited Key Club members from schools around Las Vegas really made me aware of how big Key Club really was! Also, attending the workshops were a lot of fun, although some of the workshops I wanted to go to were in really high demand and therefore I couldn't go to some, like making friendship bracelets :( There was also a mosh pit at RTC and being able to enjoy that with friends is probably going to be a core memory that highlights my high school years! I can't wait to attend next year!"

It was saddening that this was my first and last RTC experience because of the pandemic, but I still enjoyed it a lot along with my wonderful club. The dancing afterwards was really tiring but it was so nice making so many memories with my underclassmen. It made me realize why I love Key Club so much!!" SVHS |0

Spotlight on Service Program, What is it?

The Spotlight on Service Program, or the SOSP, is a way for clubs around the CNH District to get recognition for their acts of service. For each month, there is a focus for service, and Key Clubs are encouraged to participate in the SOSP by hosting service events that align with the month’s focus. Those who are chosen from the SOSP are showcased in the monthly CNH District newsletter. All it takes is filling out a simple google form to submit your service projects, which is due every 5th of the month.

Resources are also available each month regarding the focus, and assist clubs with ways on how to fulfill the SOSP.

If you would like to know more about the SOSP, a calendar with each month’s focus throughout the year has been provided, and you can also look forward to the monthly manuals that the CNH District releases.

PREFERRED CHARITIES

My name is Aidan Operana and I am proudly serving as the 2022-2023 D28S Fundraising Coordinator! My home club is Sierra Vista Key Club where I serve as the Executive Vice President. A few of my hobbies are grappling (wrestling and BJJ), watching anime, and stressing about the future! If your club is planning to collaborate with the division for fundraising, please let me know as I will be your point of contact.

Our goal this year is to raise $2500 as a division towards the Pediatric Trauma Program and the YES Initiative. This goal is reasonable if we work together to share ideas and resources and independently put forth consistent efforts. In fact, I think that as a division, we have the talent and the drive to surpass this goal! However, even a small amount of money can go a long way in helping a myriad of people when put into the right hands.
