A hotel that will exceed guests’ expectations
The Crossroads Arts District in Kansas City stands out as one of the most concentrated gallery districts in the nation, complemented by a plethora of restaurants and entertainment options. Its inherent appeal makes it an ideal locale for the Hampton Inn Hotel. This 132-unit hotel features essential amenities such as a meeting room, board room, spacious lobby, breakfast area, and a full Starbucks on the ground floor. Structurally, the hotel is composed of steel up to the 2nd floor and metal studs from the 2nd to the 7th floor. The exterior design showcases a cast stone finish on the ground floor, while Dryvit’s New Brick adorns floors 2 through 7, complete with 18 balconies. The lobby’s finishings in this project elevate beyond the typical Hampton Inn standards, boasting custom light fixtures, furniture, and wood trim.
Constructing in such an urban setting presented numerous challenges, with limited space being the most prominent. Despite these obstacles, Crossland successfully delivered the completed project to a satisfied client, making Hampton Inn a hotel that exceeds guests’ expectations.

We were privileged to collaborate with Marnell Architecture, a distinguished firm based in Las Vegas, on the Osage Casino and Hotel project. With an illustrious portfolio, including iconic establishments such as the Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, the Wynn in Las Vegas, and Harrah’s in Atlantic City, we knew we were partnering with industry leaders. Working alongside the best of the best ensured that our facility surpassed all expectations.
The Osage Casino and Hotel project, like many in 2018, initially commenced with a specific scope but evolved into something entirely different. With a contract value of $120 million, we received competitive bids and found ourselves coming in at $10 million under budget. Seizing the opportunity, the Owner expanded the project scope, adding an event center, a pool and pool building, a parking garage, and an enhanced site package – a client win!
The casino boasts 1,500 gaming machines, while the Sports Bar and Grill features a terrace overlooking the new 108,000-gallon pool and pool building. Additionally, amenities include a Pizza Bar, three ballroom spaces, a café, an event center accommodating 1,800 guests, and a new four-story parking garage with a capacity of 1,040 vehicles. Expanded parking lots now accommodate 1,941 vehicles, ensuring ample space for guests.

Our story began in 1977 with our founder, the late Ivan Crossland, Sr., lovingly known as ‘Red Iron’. He started Crossland Construction out of the family garage with a wife and ten kids at home. His optimism, integrity, work ethic, and grit led him to success in every endeavor. His story became the embodiment of The American Dream, but more importantly, it continues to inspire us every day.
Today, we are humbled by our continued growth over the years. Still family-owned and operated, we have expanded to four companies, nine office locations, over 1,900 dedicated employees, and rank in the top 100 construction firms in the nation. We continue to serve under Ivan Sr.’s belief that if you dream big, remain humble, and work hardgreat things are possible.
