A hotel experience that goes beyond expectations

Located in one of the country’s most vibrant gallery and entertainment districts, the Hampton Inn in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District is positioned at the intersection of culture, convenience, and community. The area’s strong appeal made it an ideal location for this 132-room hotel.

Smart Design with Upscale Finishes

The hotel includes a meeting room, board room, large lobby, breakfast area, and a full-service Starbucks on the ground floor. Structurally, the building is steel up to the second floor and metal studs from floors two through seven. The exterior showcases cast stone at street level with Dryvit’s New Brick on the upper levels and includes 18 balconies for added guest experience.

Inside, the finishes surpass typical Hampton Inn standards. Custom lighting, furniture, and wood trim bring a sense of warmth and sophistication to the lobby and shared spaces.

Urban Construction Success

Building in the heart of an urban district came with challenges, especially limited space. Through close coordination and careful planning, Crossland delivered the project successfully—on time and to the client’s satisfaction. The result is a standout hotel that blends seamlessly into its surroundings while elevating the guest experience.

Convention and Guest Amenities at Scale

The hotel structure includes a single-story steel and concrete podium deck topped with five stories of vertical framing. The adjoining convention center is constructed with tilt-wall and steel framing and includes curtain wall drive entries. Interior spaces span 90,000 SF of convention, ballroom, and meeting space.

Crossland had the honor of partnering with Marnell Architecture, a premier Las Vegas firm known for designing iconic properties like the Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, the Wynn, and Harrah’s in Atlantic City. With a team of this caliber, our collaboration on the Osage Casino and Hotel was built on high standards, shared vision, and trust.

Cost Savings That Fueled Growth

The original project was budgeted at $120 million, but through a competitive bidding process, we delivered it $10 million under budget. That savings gave the Owner room to expand the scope and elevate the overall experience—a true win for the entire project team.

Scope and Amenities

The expanded facilities now include a luxury pool and pool building, event center, Sports Bar and Grill, Pizza Bar, café, three ballroom spaces, and a four-story parking garage with space for over 1,000 vehicles. Guests enjoy 1,500 stateof-the-art gaming machines, along with a terrace bar that overlooks a stunning 108,000-gallon pool. The event center hosts up to 1,800 people, and total parking was expanded to accommodate nearly 2,000 vehicles.

A Lasting Destination

This project is a testament to what’s possible when world-class design meets strong construction partnership. Together with Marnell Architecture, we helped create a landmark property that delivers a standout experience for Osage guests.

The Crossland Difference: How Our Self Performance Capabilities Bring Value to Your Project.

We’re a hands-on builder— not just in how we lead, but in how we work. Our self-perform capabilities allow us to control critical scopes like concrete, steel, and earthwork, which helps keep your project on schedule, on budget, and built to a higher standard.

It’s not the right fit for every job, but when it is, it gives us the flexibility and field expertise to solve problems early, reduce risk, and add real value where it counts.

More predictable schedules & budgets

We’ve poured millions of square feet of concrete and hung thousands of tons of steel, with our own crews. That gives us tighter control of the schedule and allows for more accurate, confident budgeting from the start.

control over QUALITY, safety, and speed

We don’t leave critical scopes to chance. With in-house tradespeople on-site, we ensure the work is done right, safely, efficiently, and to spec, every time.

fewer delays, more solutions

If a subcontractor falls behind or drops out, we don’t wait. We step in with our own skilled teams to keep things moving and protect your schedule.

proactive problem solving

Our field crews and preconstruction team work together to identify risks before they hit the jobsite. From weather to logistics, we plan ahead, so you don’t have to play catch-up.

confidence when things get complex

We’ve built it all — from hospitals and heavy industrial to parks and schools. When challenges come up, we don’t flinch. We figure it out and get it done.

we look out for each other. Everyone goes home safe. No exceptions.

In loving memory of our founder, Ivan “Red Iron” Crossland, Sr.

We had a unique start— and we think it says a lot about who we are.

Ask anyone on our team what our founder, Ivan “Red Iron” Crossland, Sr., stood for, and you’ll hear the same things: family, honesty, and hard work.

Those values are still at the core of everything we do. They’re not just part of our story, they’re part of how we show up for clients, every single day.

our story about crossland

Our story began in 1977 in a garage, with a dream, a blueprint, and a whole lot of grit.

Ivan Crossland, Sr. started this company with his wife, ten kids at home, and a vision grounded in optimism, integrity, and action. That mindset carried him, and Crossland, through every challenge and milestone.

He built more than a business. He built a culture that still defines us today.

We’re still family-owned and operated. We’ve grown to four companies, 11 offices, 1,900+ team members, and we continue to rank among the top construction firms in the nation.

But our values and what matters most remain the same. If you dream big, stay humble, and do the work, great things are possible.
