2021 FIS World Junior/U23 Championships Nine of the 20-member team representing Canada at the 2021 FIS World Junior/ U23 Championships in Vuokatti, Finland were from BC. This was the largest number of BC athletes to ever qualify for this event. The nine athletes were Joe Davies (Whistler); Jasmine and Rémi Drolet (Rossland); Molly Miller (Kimberley); Alexandra Luxmoore, Elizabeth Elliott and Beth Granstrom (Revelstoke); Hannah Mehain (Vernon); and Annika Richardson (North Vancouver). Also qualifying was Gabe Gledhill, a former BC Ski Team athlete from Courtenay. Gabe, who is a dual citizen, is training and competing for Great Britain this year.

Highlights included Jasmine’s 18th place finish in the 15k classic race, which was the best-ever result for a female athlete from BC! Other top results were Rémi’s 21st (15k skate) and 28th (classic sprint), Jasmine’s 23rd (5k skate), Annika’s 24th (classic sprint), Elizabeth’s 28th (10k skate), Molly’s 30th (15k classic) and 31st (classic sprint), and Joe’s 31st (30k classic).

2021 FIS World Championships, Oberstdorf, Germany 20-year-old Rémi Drolet (Rossland), a member of Canada’s historic silver-medal winning relay squad at last year’s World Junior Championships, finished 31st in the 50k classic race. He was the fifth-fastest athlete under 23 years of age.
