FirstTracks physiologicalCSI-PoverandDr.(CSI-P),beenBiathlonaactuallyAthethatphysiologicalallowandfocusfeedbackvideo–theathlete,improvementstotechniquecanbemadequicklyitspeedsuptheprocess.Withalargemirrorinfrontandacameraontheside(projectedonaTVscreeninfront),canbeinstantaneous.Athletescanalsocontroltheofatrainingsessionthroughexactintensity,gradient,durationinaski-specificenvironment.Moreoverthiswillcoachestoexpandtheirbiomechanicsknowledgeandunderstanding.TreadmillsaresoadvantageoussomecrosscountryskinationswillactuallyflythemtoOlympicsfortheirathletestouseduringtheGames.skaterollerskitreadmillforWhistlerOlympicParkwasenvisionedaspartofthe2010Olympiclegacy,andtreadmillroomwasincludedintheoriginaldesignoftheTechnicalBuilding.Overtheyears,therehavemanydiscussionswithCanadianSportInstitutePacificWhistlerSportLegacies,OwnThePodium,UBC,Hans-ChristerHolmberg,andothersubjectmatterexperts,weareexcitedtofinallygetthevisionofthetreadmillthefinishline.Onarelatednote,thisinitiativepromptedtofinallybuildapermanentandsuitablelabspacefortesting,directlyupstairsofthetreadmill.

8 Ourfoundationdeveloped(snowmakingdonationseconomic($175K)this2019becameNonetheless,werehostblowandTwoBiathlonsnow.TheNordicsnowtherelowquiteSnowit(preparedsnowmakingGeorge,Adecadeago,snowmakingattheCaledoniaNordicClub(PrinceBC)seemedlikeafaroffdream.Whilewedidincludeinour2010long-termfacilitiesexpansionplanforthe2015CanadaWinterGames[CWG]andbeyond),wasn'tconsideredacriticalinvestmentbythe2015CWG.levelswerequitelowforthe2015CWG,whichmadeusnervous,butwithgreatgroomerswhoemployedvarioussnowmitigationtactics,wemadeitthrough.Subsequently,weretwocriticaleventsthatacutelytriggeredtheneedformaking.Thefirstwasbeingawardedthe2019WorldParaSkiingChampionships,whichweannouncedinDec2016.2019WorldChampionshipsrequiredaplanforguaranteeingThatsameseason,wewerealsoscheduledtohostthe2017NationalChampionshipsinlateFebruary/earlyMarch.weekspriortotheevent,therewasconcernaboutsnowlevels,theNationalsweremovedtoCanmore.Thiswasadevastatingtotheorganizingcommitteeandtoourreputationasaclubtoeventslaterintheskiseason(ironically,thesnowconditionsperfectduringthetimethatNationalswouldhavebeenheld).thatwasapivotalmomentwheresnowmakingimperativeandwasincorporatedintotheplanningfortheWorldParaNordicSkiingChampionships.ThefundingforinitialphasewasacombinationofaBCGamingcapitalgrantandaNorthernDevelopmentInitiativeTrust[NDIT]infrastructuregrant($250K)aswellassomeprivate($26K).WiththehelpandguidanceofTechnoAplinequipmentcompanyandanIPCsponsor),weaninitialscopeandplanthatwouldgiveusastrongtoexpandfrom.focusforthisfirstphase(2019project)was...•drillingahighcapacitygroundwaterwell(yielding325GPM),•installingaboosterpumpstation(75HPboosterpump)controlledbyVFDandTechnAlpincontrolpanel(todeliverwaterataconsistent350PSI).•installing600mofductileironpipe(oversizedtoaccommodateexpansion)and5hydrantstoprovidecoveragetoourmostcriticalareas(i.e.stadiumareasandadjacenttrails)•purchasing2TechnoAlpinTR8fanguns•acquiringalargeBR350snowcatforpushingandmovingthesnow.Theinitialsystemwasinstalledbyourgroomingcrew,andwascompletedinNovember2018.Afterinitialtesting,itstartedproducingamazingsnowinDecember2018,whenthetemperatureswereperfect(i.e.below10C).Everythingworkedincrediblywell,andthesnowqualitywasoutstanding.Itwasaphenomenalsuccessandforthe2019WorldParaNordicSkiingChampionships,wehadincrediblesnowconditionswithover60cmofbaseinourstadium,andithelpedpreservethequalityofthenaturalsnowontop.Wealsofoundthattheartificialsnowhelpedtomoderatethesnowmeltinthespring,whichbothprovidedamuchlongeruseofourstadium,andhelpedreducefloodingasthefrostdidn'tpenetrateasdeeplyintothegroundunderthestadium.Fromthisamazingexperiencewehadwithsnowmakingin2019,wewereveryconfidentinthevaluethatfutureinvestmentwould

because I could surprise myself at any moment. It also taught me that visualizing my course can be a superpower, because when I raced through that course, it felt like I had skied it a million times before, and I felt like I had wings onmyskis.

From the moment we arrived at the trails to the very last time I looked at them, itfelt like each and every oneof the peopletherewerepartofsomethingspecial,somethingthat all of us will remember for a very long time. I experienced manynew elementsofoursportatNationals,thingsI have Thethroughalearnedexpectations,new.of(incrashingsomethingMyIneverfeltbefore,andthatarenowintegratedintoeveryracewilldointhefuture.racesatNationalsstartedoffonahigh,gettingfifthplace,Ihadnotbeenexpecting,beforeimmediatelytoanall-timelowontheseconddayafterabigfalltheIntervalStartClassicTechniquerace).Regardlesstheplacinghowever,eachracetaughtmesomethingIlearnedtheimportanceofmanagingmynerves,andmindsetbefore,during,andafterarace.IhowtobehappyforothersevenwhenIwashavingterribleday,andhowtobeagoodfriendtosomeonegoingthesamething.firstracetaughtmenottounderestimatemyabilities,
Afterthejoyofthe first day,theseconddaytookmedown a notch. But sometimes, failure can teach you the most about racing. The Classic race taught me the importance of pacing, and of keeping a positive mindset throughout a race, no matter what happens. With negative thoughts and feelingsofstress,yourperformancespiralsuntilthereisno hope for saving your race. After my crash, I felt stressed and angry, and then continued on to gasp and barely drag Butaround,burnedtheninsteadfuturethelastedhadimprovingqualifitheDaybacktolapmyselfupthehills,whichIhadglidedupwitheasejustonebefore.ButIwasproudofthewayIcollectedmyselfraceagainwhilekeepingtheseimportantlessonsintheofmymind.3wasasprintday(ClassicSprintHeats),andIlearnedpowerofrecoveryandofhavingateamthatday.Myerwasfast,andIfeltexceptionallyhappy,becauseonmysprintingwasmyseason’sgoal,anditbeenachieved.Then,therewasanintermissionthatseveralhours.Unfortunately,Ifelttoobusytomakeproperrecoverychoicesthatwoulddictatetheday’sraces.Iatelittleanddrankevenless.Iwalkedaroundofputtingmyfeetagainstawallandrelaxing,andIdidaforty-fiveminutewarmupwhichcompletelyupallmyenergy.BythetimemyfirstheatrolledIwasexhausted.thenIsawTeslin,TaraandAndrewwavingmadlyin

PyeongChang,herCupnationalleftfollowinglevelNatalieWilkie(LarchHillsNordicSociety,SalmonArm)wasahighjuniorcross-countryskierwhenshewasinhighschool.In2016,aworkshopaccidentwhereshelostfourfingersonherhand,shewasinvitedtobecomeinvolvedwithNordiqCanada’spara-nordicprogram.InDecember2017,atherfirstWorldcompetition,shepostedthreefourth-placefinishes.ThisqualifiedtocompeteforCanadaatthe2018ParalympicWinterGamesinKorea.
InandtheAtthoseParalympics,Nataliewonacompletesetofthreemedals:goldin7.5kmCrossCountry,silverinthe4×2.5kmCrossCountryrelayrace,bronzeinthesprintCrossCountry.March2022NatalieagaincompetedforCanadaattheParalymicWinter
Games, this time in Beijing, China.At these Paralympics she won a complete set of four cross country ski medals: gold in the 15 km Cross Country, gold in the sprint Cross Country, silver in the 10 km Cross Country and bronze in the 4x2.5 km Cross Country relayrace.
At 21, she was the youngest member of the CanadianPara-NordicTeam.

COACHINGPROGRAM

The L2T(On-Snow)Workshop is the second half of the L2T program and the fifth step in the NCCPprogression. This workshop is designed to train coaches on team (Dryland)howandmanagement,supportingathletesatacompetition,teachinglearning,equipmentselection,skipreparationandtoeffectivelyteachskitechnique.Prerequisite:L2TWorkshop.
16.5hours.TheworkshopfeeforNC/CCBCmembersis$100.00.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION
COACHING
There are two progressive online e-learning modules designed to provide parents and other beginner coaches with basic information and a feeling of confidence as they begin their role as a coach. These modules educate individuals on how to deliver a series of age-appropriate skill development sessions under the supervision of more experienced coaches. The orientation is towards children minimumandandcoachingstagesundernineyearsofage(“ActiveStart”and"Fundamentals"ofathletedevelopment).Coachesaretaughtbasicskills,growthanddevelopmentconsiderations,howtosetupaskiplayground.Thisisentrylevel,therearenoprerequisitesexceptenthusiasmandtheagerequirementof14years.
'Coach Initiation in Sport' Module 1 hour $15.00 NC 'ICC' Module 6 hours $52.00
The “CC” Workshop is the third step in the NCCPcoach education program. It provides essential training for coaches delivering effective skill development programs forchildrensixtonineyearsofage(the“FUNdamentals” stage of skier development). This program is designed to yearsICCincludesyoungleadthattraincoachestoteachchildrentechnicalskills,selectgamesreinforcethetechnicalskillbeingtaught,designandon-snowsessions,selectandprepareequipmentforchildren,andmakelearningFUN.Thisworkshopon-snowsessions.SuccessfulcompletionoftheWorkshop,enthusiasmandaminimumageof14aretheonlyprerequisites.
17.5hours/workshop. Thefeeforeachworkshopis$125.00for members of NC/CCBC.

Did you know that coaches are required to have minimum training in order to supervise, instruct or coach ski activities for children under the age of 17 years? If an individual is teaching someone to ski, they must have this training. If an individual is just helping the group (serving hot chocolate, following behind the last skier in the group as they ski around a trail, helping to put on gloves and skis), they do not require minimum training.

InvictusGames2025 bidGameswereWheelchairAlpineadaptivecompetitorsTheandeventTheInvictusGamesisaninternationalsportingforwounded,injuredandsickservicemenwomen,bothservingandveterans.The2025GameswilltakeplaceinVancouver/WhistlerinFebruaryofthatyear,andincorporatewinteradaptivesportsforthefirsttime.eventwillbringtogetherover500from20nationstocompeteinsports,includingnewwintersports:Skiing,NordicSkiing,SkeletonandCurling,inadditiontothecoreInvictusGamessportsofindoorrowing,sittingvolleyball,swimming,wheelchairrugbyandwheelchairbasketball.VancouverandWhistlerselectedasthehostcitiesbytheInvictusFoundationfollowingacompetitiveprocess.

WesternCanadianChampionships ReturnstoKootenaysAfter27Years. inin2023,isWhentheWesternCanadianChampionshipshostedbyKimberleyonFebruary3rd-5th,itwillbethefirsttimeithasbeenlocatedtheKootenayssince1996,whenitwasheldRossland.





TouringskivolunteersGames.andcompetitionmanyTheQuesnelwillhostthe2024BCWinterGames.GamesareadevelopmentalplatformforathleteswhogoontohigherlevelsofsuchastheCanadaWinterGamestheOlympicandParalympicWinterAnaverageof1200athletesand2500areinvolved.ThecrosscountryeventswillbehostedbytheCaribooSkiClub.
The 2022 BC Winter Games, which were postponed due to the ongoing pandemic, havebeenrescheduledtoMarch23-26,2023.
