2021 FIS World Junior/U23 Championships
Nine of the 20-member team representing Canada at the 2021 FIS World Junior/ U23 Championships in Vuokatti, Finland were from BC. This was the largest number of BC athletes to ever qualify for this event.
The nine athletes were Joe Davies (Whistler); Jasmine and Rémi Drolet (Rossland); Molly Miller (Kimberley); Alexandra Luxmoore, Elizabeth Elliott and Beth Granstrom (Revelstoke); Hannah Mehain (Vernon); and Annika Richardson (North Vancouver). Also qualifying was Gabe Gledhill, a former BC Ski Team athlete from Courtenay. Gabe, who is a dual citizen, is training and competing for Great Britain this year.
Highlights include d Jasmine’s 18th pla ce fi nish in the 15 k classic ra ce, w hich w as the best-eve r result for a fema le athlete f rom BC ! Othe r top results we re Rémi’s 21st (15k skate) an d 28th ( classic spr int), Jasmine ’s 23r d (5k skate), Annika’s 24th (cla ssic sp rint), Elizabeth’s 28th (10k ska te), Molly’s 30th (15k classic) and 31st ( cla ssic sprint), and Joe’s 31st (30k cla ssic).

20-year-old Rémi Drolet (R ossland), a member of Cana da’s historic silver-medal winning relay squad at last yea r ’s World Junior C hampionships, fi nished 31st in the 50k classic r ace. He was the fi f th-f astest athlete under 23 years of age.
