Two local businesses come t to raise money for a local ch Our Goole is teaming up with Ideal Removals, a local removals company, to raise money for charity by walking from Newcastle to Goole The two businesses have joined forces to raise money for a local charity, and it’s also a great excuse to improve their fitness!

The event, which will take place on 23rd-27th September, will see Dave from Ideal Removals and Rach from Our Goole walking from Tyne Bridge, Newcastle, to West Park, Goole. They have five days to complete the challenge!

A local resident from Goole will chose the charity all the proceeds go to.

It will be a huge challenge but we are rooting for Dave and Rach as they begin training for the mammoth event!

Our Goole had a chat with its very own Distribution Manager, Rach, to find out more about the fundraising event.

How did the idea come about?

We are all about the community, it has helped both businesses throughout the last couple of years, especially through Covid.

We wanted to give something back. What better way than a sponsored walk that will raise money for a local charity chosen by the public.

What do you anticipate being the most challenging part?

Neither of us have done anything like this before, we don’t have any experience and we don’t know how we will feel day to day.

So that will probably be the most challenging bit as we don’t really know how our bodies will react, but we are really looking forward to it and we hope we can raise a lot of money for charity.

I have been Distribution Manager for over five years now, so I’m used to walking, I regularly hit 10 miles per day. Dave is very active carrying out house removals, so our initial fitness levels are quite good. I’m setting out a training programme which will hopefully see us hitting 20 miles a day on the treadmill.

Have you done anything like this before?

Dave hasn’t but I have done a half marathon around 15 years ago.

How much are you hoping to raise?

We have set a target of £2,500 but we just want to raise as much as possible.
