NUTRITION We change the menu table once in a quarter in consultations with the children. We keep in mind the nutritional aspects. We provide special food to the weak children and also their diet is supplemented with bread, eggs and fruits.

In monthly meetings home mothers are oriented on personal hygiene and culinary and kitchen hygiene as any negligence in this aspect will affect badly on the health of the children.

Food committee orients and oversees the children if any wastes the food or not eating leafy vegetables. They oversee the hygiene

HEALTH 5 children were affected with fever and they were treated taking them to Doctor. During monsoon season, health emergency was declared in entire Anantapur dist and us proud to say that our children didn’t suffer any serious health hazards. We administered DTP injection for immunity and Homeopathy tablets, deforming tablets

as a precaution which gave good results.

6 children are malnourished and they are being attended to by providing special supplementary

food like eggs, fruits and

Orientation on health is given during Balasabha and meeting with the children. On healthy habits, good modes of brushing, setting things and keeping them in order.

First Aid treatment training was done for the home staff and the Resource person was

EDUCATION

Spoken English, Computer, life skills, leadership qualities classes are being conducted every day in the evening time.

BRIDGE COURSE: 7 children are taking Bridge course and they are trained in the SSA curriculum by our teachers. Suvarna, Sirisha, Uma, Teja are in X class, 4 children are studying in intermediate; they are kalpana, Geetha, Sucharita and Laxmi. Apart from 2 teachers and 1 educational coordinator, Krupa, Chowdeshwri and Padmavathi are the tutors coming from outside.

We designed two separate time table for primary and High school sections; we take 1 hr and 2 hr remedial classes in the morning and evening. Apart from academics, children are also trained in English and Computer education. In the life skills, they are taught leadership skills, time management and having trust, living with values etc---

All the top ranks in Sharada School are bagged by Rainbow Home children in the 8,9th classes. Kalpana got 7.8 marks in the last SSC exams for which Project Incharge and home staff were showered praises

SUCCESS STORY IN EDUCATION: Kalpana was a drop out child. In Rainbow Home, she was given the bridge course for a year and mainstreamed into age appropriate class. She was dull and dis interested in studies initially but over a period, with the support of the home, she got such a nice grade in X exams.

ARTS & CRAFTS Akhila, Renuka, Sucharitha, Vennela Shobha, Devi, Ashwini, Latha, Uma, Dhana laxmi learnt craft. Inputs used were Chamkis, Plastic sheets, Ice cream sticks, Pearls, wires. Resource person Ms. Padma & Ms. M. Sundha (Home staff). Our child Renuka has aptitude to learn crafts. She was got trained in this and now she is able to teach crafts to other children.

TAILORING: We also trained few identified

children and staff in

tailoring. Now they are able to cut and completely stitch a Dress and blouse. Training happens in April, May & June after the completion of

the annual exam. A total 50 children’s participated.

PAINTING: With regard to Art, 25 children were trained in Art of painting by providing them with brushes and paint in the months of April, May & June

SABHA: Children take a lead role in conducting Balasabha. Any decision

regard to Home running or complaints are resolved. They also share the happenings in their school. They also discuss and debate the topics of socially relevant issues.

EDUCATIVE TOURS: Children were taken to World Space week exhibition at SSBN college in Anantapur on 4th Oct. They were thoroughly

All this in reality happens in Satish Dhavan space technology centre at Srihari kota. Satellites are launched and introduced in the orbit and how they are useful in making our daily lives easy and efficient. our Anantapur District Collector had interacted with our Crescent Rainbow home children asking questions on Rocket

Children also visited the book exhibition and learnt a lot about the great personalities and their life stories and formula of their success. They purchased few good books and kept in the library and started reading them.

NATIONAL AND RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS: We celebrated Festivals like Ramzan in the presence of our Project In charge .He gave the message of Ramzan and distributed Sheequrma; the Ramazan special liquid diet among the children. He also motivated children to study well and come up in life. Children were given all self grooming items and few wore new dresses.

BAKRID: On the eve of the Bakrid, goats were culled in the home which is ritual in the Islam. Afterwards, we prepared Biriyani in the home and relished the dinner. One religious leader Moulana Ameer

Dasara: Dasara was celebrated with religious fervor and festivity. Special food was prepared and children relished. All decorated home with festoons and color papers and greeted each other.

RAKHI POURNAMI:

Children tied Rakhis to the visitors and they in turn

received blessings and little money. They explained about the spirit of Brother

– Sister Relationship and assured the children that they would be with them till they grow up and become self –reliant.

KRIAHNASHTAMI: On this eve of birthday of Lord Krishna our girl Uma became little Krishna and Pournami became Gopika (his assistant). Uma did all the miss chief of little krishna and all gopikas danced around him. We

relished.

TEACHERS

DAY: Children who took the roles of teachers were greeted and

prizes were given to the best performers. All the home staff were felicitated for their services in the teaching the children .Importance of teacher in the lives of the students was explained.

GANDHI JAYANTHI: Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on 2nd Oct. We conducted an essay writing competition to the children on the topic of Swachha Bharat, which is a campaign launched by the Government of India on the eve of 125thBirht anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation) for High school children .Winners were given away prizes.

the eve of children’s day, Games were conducted for the children in junior, Senior, Sub Junior category. For this occasion dignitaries from Manavata organization S.M Basha and Chief functionary of Mr. Amar nath reddy

were invited. Along with them Inner wheel club members Messer. Swetha reddy, Srinivasa laxmi, Kruthi and veena swami were present. They gave the prizes to the winners of various competitions.

PARENTS MEETING: In this half year, one

parents meetings was conducted; Parents were oriented

on the need to have children’s vital documents and what are the loses for

procuring them for their children. Few parents who had no aadhar cards were facilitated by the home staff in procuring them.

Generally, Parents meeting is held before leaving children for vacation and in it they were oriented about the does and don’ts with the children in the interest of their health, hygiene and security. The progress and the achievements of their wards are shared with them and they feel happy seeing the progress of their wards. Also they were

motivated to do savings for the future of their children. Shikaari parents are now realizing the importance of education and leading a dignified life. Regularly parents are visiting our home to help in the home activities like grooming the friends of their wards. Apart from this, we also invite parents for important home functions

workshop from 17th to 20th August. They learnt valuable inputs by Sri. Harsh Mander on their life, future and goal setting, being responsible, responsible sexuality, being good and successful citizen. We shared these inputs back in our home with our staff and 16 + children who didn’t attend. It was very much useful work as the children got clarity on many of their dilemmas.
