The Black Sorrows to headline Bungle Rumble It’s time to get your dancing shoes on! The details for the Bungle Rumble have finally been set and it promises to be an event to remember at the Coonabarabran Showground. by CHRIS WARD + EMMA HARVEY The date, a venue and the bands have all been booked for a massive night of ente r tainment, giving Shi re resident s a chance to let their hair down. On Saturday, 26 November, the Black Sorrows will shake the Warrumbungles with their classic Australian rock tunes from the Coonabarabran Showground as the headline act. I t w i l l be a huge n ight o f mus ic and celebration, with several local bands and performers supporting the main act. And best part of all? Entry is free! There will be stalls including food and drinks available on the night. The event has all been made possible through funding from the State Government’s Regional Recovery Package. Warrumbungle Shire Council mayor, Cr Ambrose Doolan, said the region is “very, very grateful, and happy to say so publicly,” for the funding. “We’ve had a tough time these last few years with COVID, the drought, floods,” Cr Doolan said. “We’ve had a hammering. “The festival is our flagship event. It’s something to look forward to, to lift spirits and bring in business. I’m certainly looking forward to it.”

A sub-commit tee, the Bungle Rumble working group, was formed, comprising a range of community members who hashed out many of the event details including the venue and the talent. Kodi Brady, one of the team planning the event, said it was all about putting something together that the wider community and Shire could enjoy. “It’s going to be great,” Mr Brady said. “The Black Sorrows are an iconic Australian band with a number of big hits that most people will know. “It’s all about putting something on for the whole community that’s free and bouncing back from COVID-19. “Hopefully, we get people from all over the district come to town for it. It really is a night for everyone - for the entire Shire.” Joe Camilleri formed The Black Sorrows in the early 1980s and produced a number of hits including Chained to the Wheel, Snake Skin Shoes and Brown Eyed Girl. The band will be back on Australian shores after a recent tour of Germany. Keep an eye out in the Coonabarabran Times for more information leading up to the event.

Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows will perform at Bungle Rumble in Coonabarabran on 26 November.
