New magazine

in full bloom The team behind the Coonabarabran Times is thrilled to announce the arrival of its new publication - “wattle” magazine. Designed and published by the Coonabarabran Times, wattle is the first magazine of its kind in the Warrumbungle region – a luxurious print publication with a focus on creativity, culture and community in the bush. Like the resilient native flower from which it takes its name, wattle is vibrant, beautiful and uniquely local. Editor, Kait Britton, said the project had been a labour of love. “Publishing a magazine of this kind is no simple task - hundreds of hours have gone into bringing the concept to life. “ W e’ v e e s s e n t i a l l y started from scratch - from sourcing stories, through to working with a talented g roup of l oca l w r ite r s and photog raphers, attracting and receiving overwhelming a d ve r t i s i n g s u p p o r t, e d it i n g a n d l a yo ut,

pre-print and logistics, marketing and stockists - there’s a lot of wo r k involved. “But it is 100 per cent worth the blood, sweat and tears to see, feel and smell the final product.” What was initially planned to be a modest 6 4 page maga z i ne, quickly transformed into 10 0 p a g e s , b r i m m i n g w it h s t u n n i n g i m a g e s and qualit y long -for m journalism. “We really hope that the community will appreciate what we’ve created by suppor ting o u r n ew p ro j e c t a n d purchasing a copy. “I also hope the stories reflect a slice of what it is like to live in such a wonde r ful pa r t of the world!” Wattle can be pu rchased from the Coonabarabran Times office or online at wattlemagazine.square. site
