WEAR CONCORDIA
It was a Concordia celebration day at Business Services! The entire team joined in by wearing their Concordia colours. We also gave a Concordia pennant to the first students who were wearing Concordia colours and followed us on Instagram, and we handed out “I Love Concordia” stickers.
Look out for the next one on January 15!

PARKING UPDATES PRINT
LB garage update
New signage has been installed to improve wayfinding (exits, stairwells, elevator paths). We’d received more than a few “Help, I’m lost!” comments from users, so this should make navigating the garage much easier
Google AdWords
Targeted ad campaigns were set up for key periods (Santa’s Parade, Black Friday, weekend shopping, Hab’s games) and delivered strong results. Year-over-year, we saw significant daily increases ranging from 5% to over 100%. We’re Open!
The LB and FB garages, along with the Loyola parking lots, will remain open during the holidays. A Google AdWords campaign is planned to promote parking options during this busy period.
Hall parking lot
The lot is set to reopen this December or early January and will be ready to welcome permit holders back. The paving is done, and the line-painting is on the way.
Let it snow!
The towing signages for the winter period have been installed at the Loyola campus.
Loyola Chapel shows
The Lyrics Holiday evening shows held at the Loyola Chapel (December 4–7) went smoothly. Evening patrolling proved effective, and the added communication and on-site signage about payment methods helped attendees.
UPCOMING CHANGES TO P3 LOT
A portion of the P3 lot that used to be for permit holders will now be open for daily parking. This change will help meet the growing demand from students and the public and bring in extra revenue!
We are updating signage, online information, the Concordia App, and a winter campaign is in the works to promote the new public lot.
PAPER EXPERIMENT TIME!
The Print Store is test-driving a new eco-friendly option: Sugar Sheet a copy paper made entirely from recycled sugar-cane waste fibre. It’s a low-carbon, ESG-friendly alternative to traditional office paper. No promises we’ll switch, but it’s sweet to explore new possibilities!
Coroplast experiment
We’re always on the lookout for smarter, greener solutions. A new method using a grey-back sticker is heading into testing over the next few weeks as we explore how to reuse coroplast signage on campus. Stay tuned!
Special project
Print Advisory recently received a request to find a new “Formation” badge for the security guards’ coats. After exploring several materials, the team identified a durable and professional-looking solution that checks all the boxes!
SPREAD THE HOLIDAY CHEERS!
Grab a Business Services holiday card (with a cookie recipe!) to send a note to your contacts and use our Holiday signature available in the Business Services Teams channel! It includes a notice about parking being open — help us spread the word!
Staff Spotlight
Elizaveta Eiderman, Customer Service, Supervisor, Print Services
What three words would friends use to describe you?
Emphatic, positive and an overall health freak ☺
If you had to describe yourself using a song title, which would you choose?
I’d pick “Charasho” by Israeli singer Benny Friedman. It’s all about embracing life and the small things that make it special: sunshine, laughter, nature, and friends and family. The video mixes kitsch with Fiddler on the Roof vibes, totally my style!
When did the band start, your biggest crowd, and your funniest or weirdest gig?
I’ve always gravitated around music and started a band in 2007. We’ve played everywhere from tiny bars with 50 people to festivals with 500 and it’s always a blast.
Our funniest gig was in a rave bar in New York. Our sound is super melodic, so we were way off-brand for the glow-stick crowd! People just stared at us like we were an accidental playlist shuffle!
If you could join any band or artist on tour, who would it be?
I would join the Pineapple Thief is a heartbeat! Not such much to play with them, but to learn about them, the way they play music, and to get inspired.
If you could instantly become an expert in one thing, what would it be?
Naturopathy! I’d love to have the full medical background, understand how natural therapies work, and travel the world to learn traditional healing practices.
Making customers happy, especially when they bring in the weirdest projects. I love finding creative solutions and seeing the emotional attachment people have to their print creations. It makes everyday fun. What’s your favourite part of your job?
If you had a clone, what task would you immediately assign to them?
I’d hand off all the mundane clerical work—answering emails, tracking daily tasks, organizing files, scheduling, and all the little admin things that pile up.
What’s a small thing that always makes your day better?
A cold shower in the morning to get the blood flowing, and a quick yoga session at lunch time to reset and recharge.
“ I love finding creative solutions and seeing the emotional attachment people have to their print creations.
What’s something that very few people know about you?
I’m obsessed with mushrooms! I go foraging in the forest, read about different species, study them, make teas, and cook with what I find. I’m very cautious, and I’ve never accidentally poisoned myself... yet!
I’m also certified in laugh yoga, and I secretly hope my colleagues will one day let me lead a session and giggle their stress away.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
No one in the office will be shocked when I say: salad! There are infinite possibilities: fruit salads, warm salads, salads with protein, veggies, endless dressings… it’s basically a lifelong buffet.
What’s the best vacation or trip you’ve ever taken?
I moved to Montreal when I was 10 and never stopped travelling. I don’t have a single favourite, every trip has been amazing! As long as I’m with my family, exploring new places, and staying in houses instead of hotels, I’m happy.
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
I worked at a Russian kiosk for the Festival Gourmand on Jean Drapeau Island. We sold caviar on blinis, vodka shots, and borscht. I even wore a traditional folk dress, it was totally over-the-top and a lot of fun!
If you could swap roles with someone for a day, who would it be?
Elon Musk. He’s a strange guy, full of contradictions, but I’d love to see how he operates and what makes him tick. Is he just chasing profits and stirring up controversy, or does he genuinely want to change the world for the better?
I’d pick Kim, David, and Melanie. They each know different subjects and random facts, and we’d have a blast while totally crushing the competition! Which coworker would you choose as your trivia night teammate and why?
What’s a completely useless talent you’re weirdly proud of?
I can combine any foods and somehow turn them into a healthy meal. I once made salad dressing out of zucchinis; don’t knock it till you try it!
