PRINT STORE NEWS

Successfully renegotiated campus advertising contracts with Rogers and UB Media, boosting revenues while adding 24 horizontal screens and 8 large vertical digital screens on campus. The new large screens highlight ads for DPrint, the Print Store, lockers, parking, and ID cards!

The new agreement also includes an annual $30,000 allocation to advertise at other institutions and cégeps —a great opportunity to promote Concordia that our colleagues from recruitment were eager to seize!

“A special thank you to Steven for coordinating the Rogers screens shipping and installation — I couldn’t have done it without you!”

Here’s a summary of the key findings from our recent survey on the Print Store.

• 53.5% rated the overall shopping experience as very good, while 36.67% rated it as good.

• 83.33% of users found the site easy to navigate.

• Over 85% found what they needed online and believe our prices are competitive.

Brand recognition initiatives

• In October, we included “Thank you” bookmarks with information on ordering online to each order.

• In November, a 2025 calendar featuring statutory and Concordia holidays was included in each order and distributed to all departments.

• In December, a holiday card with a cookie recipe, along with some festive holiday tags highlighting our new label-making capabilities, is added to every internal order.

Open House

The entire Print Store team: Stuart, Rita, Amanda, and Elizaveta played a pivotal role in this year’s Open House. Producing anything from a multitude of posters, coroplast signage, brochures, and event guides, to postcards, nametags, and roll-up banners.

Hall Building project

Amanda explored various options to find the most durable solution at the best price. She also coordinated and provided guidance on the production and installation of the temporary hall building’s outdoor signage. The results are outstanding!

Eco-friendly choice

We’re excited to announce that we can now print stickers and reuse coroplast! This initiative not only offers a more cost-effective solution for our clients, but it’s also a significant step toward sustainability, as coroplast can be reused multiple times. This product option will be available online soon, allowing us to share this eco-friendly choice across all departments.

Getting to know...

Stuart O’Driscoll, Customer Support Representative

Tell us a bit about yourself

I started working at a copy centre in my early 20’ as part of an internship. I picked up the work fast and enjoyed the different processes.

I’ve been at Concordia since 1997, and I’m turning 50 this April — which definitely calls for a few parties! It’s also a reminder that retirement is just a few years away.

What do you like about printing?

I enjoy the process, seeing the results of people’s design come to life. There’s something satisfying about taking a digital file and turning it into something physical.

The process is often a mix of problem-solving and attention to detail, and I enjoy seeing customers happy with the results. I also think I have a khack with photocopiers.

What couldn’t you live without?

My XBox console. I don’t have Internet at the moment, and this is how I unwind. I enjoy playing games.

What’s your favourite way to start the day?

I’m not a coffee drinker and I don’t eat breakfast, but I do enjoy listening to CBC News radio, catch up on the news, the weather, and spending as much time as possible lounging!

What’s most important to you?

My mom and my sister are the most important to me. And my game console ! :)

the loop QUIZ

Answer these questions, write your name, and drop it in the ballot box. You could win a $50 Book Stop gift card. Draw on Monday, December 16

If you could be any character from a book or movie for a day, who would you choose?

Batman would be an awesome choice! The cool gadgets, he’s a regular guy with serious skills and tech, no superpowers needed. Plus, getting to be a billionaire with a secret lair wouldn’t hurt either!

What’s something that nobody knows about you?

I did some amateur modelling; it was for a photographer that remade classic religious paintings and scenes in a modern reinterpretation. And yes, I was Jesus!

What’s your favourite type of cuisine?

If it doesn’t involve eggplants, liver or sushi and it’s not too spicy I’m into it!

What’s your favourite movie genre?

I’m open. My taste is sort of eclectic but obviously I enjoy sci-fi, fantasy and horror movies. Avengers’ movie, Dracula, or Star Trek. I also collect TV series.

Favourite music

I love music and the 80’s rocked! From The Cure, David Bowie, Nick Cave to Metallica and The Police. I’ve seen so many shows and I own so many band t-shirts.

If you see outside of work that’s my uniform: jeans and a band tee!

What is your favourite holiday?

I love Halloween, dressing up, the parties., the scary movies.

What’s your superpower?

I’m basically a photocopier whisperer!
