HBCRSA Fortnightly Newsletter 20 November

Looking ahead to the end of the Year Update from our President Bevan Edwards

First of all, some our members noted the absence of financial reporting in the November monthly newsletter – this report was not ready for the October Executive Committee meeting, so it was not signed off for distribution. It will be presented and discussed in the November meeting and therefore included in the December monthly newsletter.

Earlier this month we held the annual Armistice Day commemoration service, for which I was very pleased with the participation. Realising that it is generally not as well attended as Anzac Day, we are striving to extend the recognition of this important day in history through improved awareness and education about its significance.

Now it’s time to look ahead to a busy festive month in December and the well-deserved break for our hard-working staff. There are a number of events coming up which provide us with the opportunity to recognise and thank our members and volunteers. If you’re not sure about the details, check the newsletter or ask at reception about the prizegiving evening for our sports clubs, the volunteers celebration, and the separate children and adults Christmas parties.

I had the privilege of attending the KEV monthly meeting earlier this month. We talked about the future and transformation of the Hibiscus Coast RSA, and we also covered related topics of other locations around the Hibiscus Coast which are going through similar challenges and changes. It was a pleasure having the opportunity to talk openly with some of our longstanding members.

The Executive Committee and related subcommittees have a busy time ahead with tasks

such as financial planning and management, the future transformation, and re-registration for the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, to name just a few.

We all know that this can be a tough time of year with the pressures and strains brought on in the lead up to Christmas and the festive season. Please exercise patience and restraint when it comes to interacting with others –think twice before saying or doing anything which is unnecessary or could lead to a misunderstanding. By following these simple principles, we can all enjoy a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

We have now sold both of our old Welfare cars and have upgradied to a new Welfare car. If you need to be taken to a medical appointment please

• Kevin Stinson, our Parade Commander, for his leadership.

• Phil Corser, the Pastor for the ceremony.

• Maria Walker-Kinnell for her professional bagpipe performance.
