CENTENNIALCELEBRATION

As our Centennial year comes to a close, we want to thank every person who helped make this year special. We are thrilled to celebrate the 100th year of Sebastian one final time at our Centennial Celebration on December 8th in Riverview Park from 10 am - 6 pm. See the flyer and video below for more details on this special day!

CITY CLERK

As the calendar year comes to a close, I reflect upon the activities that the Clerk’s Office has accomplished during the last 12 months. What comes to the forefront is all of the Centennial planning and preparation that Cathy and I, along with other staff members, were involved in. Sebastian’s birthday is officially on December 8, 2024, but our planning began much earlier.

With the help of City Manager Brian Benton and some prominent residents, we proposed having monthly events to let everyone know that Sebastian has been around for 100 years. We created and printed the Sebastian at 100 Magazine to highlight Sebastian’s rich history and make it accessible to future generations The hard work of fishing and citrus farming created this unique community, and we hope it will never be forgotten.

We then set out to sell Centennial souvenirs at our monthly festivals and events in Riverview Park. We were thrilled to meet so many wonderful, friendly residents and visitors. Thank you to everyone who bought Centennial merchandise; you helped fund our celebration and make it meaningful for the community. We had a lot of fun getting to know those who came to each event, and we enjoyed having the members of the City Council join us in the City tent to promote the celebration.

Now that it is December, Sebastian’s Centennial Celebration will be held on Sunday, the 8th. We hope you enjoy the Clydesdale horses, Teddy Roosevelt's living history presentation, the fireworks show, and more Everyone has shared their enthusiasm for making this the Party of the Century! If we have six ole’ grouches in town, I sure didn’t meet any of them!

As we move forward into 2025, Cathy, Ann, and I look forward to aligning the endeavors of our office with the goals of the City Council to preserve Sebastian’s hometown feel and keep adequate records to help residents stay informed on the things that the Council is doing to improve life in Sebastian

Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas, Jeanette Williams
