BACKTOSCHOOL
Throughout July, we worked to collect donations for our Back to School Fun Day Event. We partnered with Walmart to hold a 2-day supplies drive. The supplies were later distributed at the event. The turnout for our Back to School Fun Day event was huge! We gave away backpacks and supplies to well over 200 students. We also raffled off 8 bikes thanks to our friends at Walmart and EPower Bike Shop. Check out some of the photos from the event below. More photos can be found on our Facebook and Instagram accounts!

PARKS & RECREATION

The ladies in the knitting and crochet club at the Sebastian Senior Center have made some new friends. They have been sending letters back and forth to their pen pals, a group of children from a summer camp in Kansas. The ladies recently sent each of their pen pals a hand-knit stuffed animal! You can watch the video to learn more. The photo at the bottom shows the pen pals with Christmas in July ornaments they received from the summer camp kids. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
TREASURECOASTWATERWAYCLEANUP
Every year, the Natural Resources Board hosts the Capt. Robert Hardee Main St. Boat Ramp as a site for the Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup. Out of 21 sites, this is the furthest North along the Treasure Coast, and folks gathering from here to Martin County joined in the effort to keep our water bodies beautiful and free from pollution. Throughout Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup Week, 8 residents signed up to participate virtually here in Sebastian. On the day of the cleanup, July 26, there were over 30 volunteers who joined the NRB, including representatives from the Elks Lodge, the Marine Resources Council, and Cadets from the NJROTC at Sebastian River High School. It is estimated that over 150 lbs. of debris were collected just at the boat ramp that day, but stay tuned for more detailed data, as we await the final tally from the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast. Thank you to all those who participated, and a huge thank you to MIATC for another collaborative, inspiring effort to protect our waterways!

ACCESSINGPUBLICRECORDSTHROUGH LASERFICHEWEBLINK
The City of Sebastian is committed to transparency and easy access to public information. One of the key tools supporting this effort is Laserfiche, the City’s digital records management system. It helps departments securely store and organize official documents while making many of them accessible to the public online. Residents can view a wide range of public records through our Laserfiche WebLink portal at: weblink.cityofsebastian.org
Documents available include City Council agendas and minutes, resolutions, ordinances, budget documents, historical records, and more. Whether you're researching a past decision or looking for general reference materials, WebLink provides an easy-to-use platform to find what you need, without having to visit City Hall.
Behind the scenes, Laserfiche helps staff across departments like the City Clerk’s Office, Community Development, Public Works, and Finance organize records and improve interdepartmental access to information. While some internal documents remain confidential or restricted, the City strives to make as much information as possible available online to the public.
We invite residents, researchers, and community partners to explore the WebLink portal and see how digital tools are helping us deliver open, responsive government. For help navigating the portal or locating a specific document, please contact the City Clerk’s Office.

JULY ROUNDS
The Sebastian Municipal Golf Course did 3,970 rounds in July, bringing in $101,096.

AIRPORT
UPDATES
The upgrading of airport protective netting has been completed. This project involved upgrading the existing netting placed behind the new Hangar D, located between the building and the golf course. The existing barrier, at 30’ high, was insufficient to prevent golf balls from coming into the hangar ramp area, causing damage and potential injuries around a working aviation business. The upgrade has increased the height of the barrier to 50’, and added 50’x50’section to the northern end of the barrier system. The new poles and netting have been secured to the existing barriers, making them more effective and efficient in preventing stray golf balls from entering the airport property. The work was completed by contractor Ball Fabrics and funded by an FDOT grant and the City of Sebastian.
