City Receives Over $7 Million in Grants for Sidewalk and Bicycle Improvements
How It Started:
The 2021 Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan
The City’s 2021 Pedestrian and Bicycle SystemPlanlaidoutacleargoal:
Providesafeandconvenient pedestrianandbicycle accommodationsthatconnect Navasotaneighborhoodsto communitydestinations.
The plan was adopted following a community feedback process, public meetings, and thorough analysis of traffic data,safetyneeds,andresidentpriorities.It identified key areas lacking sidewalk access and highlighted opportunities for safer school routes, improved downtown access,andenhancedtrailconnectivity
City Council’s adoption of the plan has opened the door for competitive grant opportunities, putting Navasota ahead of the curve when it comes to securing funding.

This summer, the City will begin developing a Parks and Recreation, Open Space, and Trails Master Plan that will look at existing trail networks and opportunities to improve connectivity throughout the city for residents and visitors.Thisplanningprocesswillincludetownhallmeetingsandacommunity survey to seek feedback from residents on what amenities they would like to seeinourparksandtrailsysteminthefuture.
