No matter if you are new, just visiting, or have lived here for many years, thank you for spendingtimewithus. Wehaveaclose,friendly,caringcommunityofpeoplewholive and work here. Our roots go back well over 150 years when the city was founded by cottonfarmers,ranchers,andlaterthearrivaloftherailroads.

Navasotahasathrivingbusinesscommunity. Withover1,500peopleworkingatmajor industries alone, there are many development sites available and local workforce offices. Navasota boasts a live community theatre, numerous city-owned parks for outdoor recreation, golfing at Pecan Lakes Golf Course, downtown shopping and City Hall Plaza, live music venues, and a variety of dining options Navasota was awarded the Train Town USA designation by Union Pacific Railroad and is certified by the Texas DepartmentofAgricultureasaGOTEXANCertifiedRetirementCommunity.

Navasota takes pride as a clean, relaxing, safe community and is a growing suburban areawherecommercialdevelopment,alongwithresidentialneighborhoods,growand prosper. Many folks visit to see the beauty of the landscape, including the stately VictorianandGothicstylehomes. Wehaveaqualityschooldistrict,hospital,andclose access to metropolitan areas. I invite you to enjoy our annual events, like the Texas Birthday Bash or nearby Texas Renaissance Festival. We also have a six flags monumentthatisthegatewaytoWashington-On-The-BrazosStatePark,whereTexas independence was signed, just six miles west of Navasota. The Navasota City Council is the elected body that provides the direction and policy for the City of Navasota The City of Navasota operates under a Home Rule Charter with a council/ manager form of government There are five elected Council members The citizens of Navasota elect the five members of the City Council at large. The City of Navasota Charter stipulatesthattheCouncilmemberswillvoteannuallyonwhichmembersserveastheMayor andMayorPro-Tem. TRASHCOLLECTION&RECYCLING

Public Works oversees the collection and disposal of solid waste through an agreement between the City of Navasota and our contractor, Republic Services, Inc. The City provides curbside trash pick-upserviceonceperweekforresidentialcustomers. Information onPolycartCollectiondirectionscanbefoundatNavasotaTX.gov.

Residents can take brush to the City’s Brush Collection Facility, located at 9911 CR 415, on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm. For more information on what items can be accepted at the facility,contactPublicWorksat(936)825-6450.

Navasota provides bulky item disposal and recycling operations for paper, aluminum cans,andplasticattheRecyclingStation,locatedat5015thStreet,onSaturdaysfrom 9am to 4pm. More information on Recycling Guidelines can be found at NavasotaTX.gov/Recycle.

The Animal Control Officers work hard to take care of and safely relocate stray animals to the Animal Services Center, reunite lost animals with their families, and help abandoned pets find their foreverhomes.

RICHINHISTORY

The origin of the name Navasota has been debated by many over the years. Some speculate it’s a nativeAmericanphrasemeaning“pricklypear”whileothersleantoward“muddywaters,”referringto the nearby Navasota and Brazos Rivers. Whatever its origin – from Native American hunters and ers of the early Republic and 21st-century entrepreneurs and ency!
