



Chris Granillo completed the longest mural in Emeryville – an astounding 275 linear feet - last January on the western façade of the Emerytech building adjacent to the railroad tracks. The work was funded by the City’s Visual Art Grants, issued every even year and is visible from Shellmound Street.

Each program has thoughtfully planned to cater to all ages and interests, ensuring there is something for everyone I am also delighted to announce that we received Assemblywoman Mia Bonta’s District 18 award for the 2024 Arts & Festival of the Year The City of Emeryville won this recognition for the 2024 Harvest Festival, highlighting our ongoing commitment to creating memorable community events
I would also like to extend a special thank you to IKEA for their generous donation of equipment for our Teen Center Their support has made it possible for us to enhance this space into a dynamic hub where our young residents can connect, learn, and grow in a safe and welcoming environment
Additionally, I want to highlight the incredible work of the ECCL and the various community activities they coordinate Their commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community is evident in every event and program they offer I encourage each of you to take advantage of these opportunities participate, engage, and experience firsthand the positive impact these activities have on our community.
I am also excited to share that Sutter Health has announced plans to build a new, state-of-theart medical campus right here in Emeryville. This $1 billion investment will feature a 1.3 millionsquare-foot facility, including a 200-bed hospital with emergency services, intensive care, labor and delivery, outpatient clinics, and imaging services. The new medical center is expected to begin serving patients as early as 2028, with full completion by 2033. This development will significantly enhance healthcare access for our residents and underscores Emeryville's growth as a regional hub for quality medical services vitalssutterhealthorg

Answer: I started in the Fall of 2022 The first year and a half, I was a TK/K Rec Leader and then became a Rec Specialist, working on the curriculum piece for the afterschool and summer camp programs

A: "Recs-giving" is always a favorite memory each year Sharing a meal with our Rec families and being in one space all together is a special time of connection and joy.

A: I have two: Tasty Tuesday/Middle School Cooking Club: I love the excitement the kids have each week for it - wondering what they'll be making and eating Quite often, they're learning and trying something new! and this year, we started Spirit of Rec Pride - A monthly assembly in which each group has a chance to win the Spirit Staff for their class, symbolizing that their group embodies the Best of Rec (through leadership, acts of service, conflict resolution, responsibility, etc) It's been amazing witnessing the transition from Rec Leader-led to student-led presentations as their confidence and skills develop throughout the year
Q: What hobbies do you do outside of Rec?
A: I love traveling, reading, hiking, geocaching, photography, and baking
The L.I.T. Water adjustment and safety skills for parent and child This class is not designed to teach toddlers to swim independently, but to increase the comfort level of children in and around water

Refunds and cancellations will only be considered if they are requested within 14 days prior to the start date of the scheduled activity In the event the Community Services Department cancels a class or program (due to inclement weather, low enrollment, etc), a refund or make-up program will be offered If the participant is unable to attend a class or program due to personal reasons outside of the dates specified, a refund will not be granted (including pro-rated refunds) A $1000 administrative fee will be applied, per customer, for each refund/cancellation This fee may be deducted from the total refund amount if requested

The ‘8 To Go’ is an on-demand shuttle service for everyone ages 70+, or people ages 18–69 who are certified to use East Bay Paratransit and residing in 94608 zip code Once enrolled in the program, users just place a call to set-up your travel itinerary and location, it’s that simple! Travel is limited to locations to and from the 94608 zip code area (which is all of Emeryville and portions of North and West Oakland including MacArthur BART, Kaiser, Sutter and more)
WHY SHOULD I USE 8-TO-GO?
This service is intended to help seniors and people with disabilities travel within the local 94608 area
Whether it’s a trip to the Senior Center, grocery store, favorite restaurant, medical appointment, or religious services, 8-To-Go will provide the personalized service and attentiveness not found in other transportation services.

Residents of Emeryville ages 70+ may submit an application with taxi receipts for reimbursement. Reimbursement is limited to 90% of $80 up to once per calendar quarter ($72 reimbursement every three months). As of July 1st, 2018, Lyft & Uber are now accepted!

How do I register for youth, adult, and senior activities/events in Emeryville?
There are two (2) ways to register:
ONLINE: Please visit www.emeryville.org/register to register for almost any program! www.rec.us/emeryville requires immediate payment, so make sure to have your debit/credit card or electronic check handy. Avoid wasting gas, paper, and time waiting in line…register online today!
WALK-IN: Register in-person weekdays at the Emeryville Center of Community Life (9:00am6:00pm) or Veteran’s Memorial/Senior Center (9:00am-4:00pm) for almost every activity and event Be sure to bring your checkbook or credit/debit card too, fees are due in full to register for a program
Why should I become a member of the Senior Center?
Membership is only $31 per year, and entitles you to enjoy the many activities, events, and trips organized by the Senior Center. Members also receive ‘The LINK’, a monthly newsletter that gives up-to-date information that impacts seniors. Membership is open to residents and non-residents alike, so stop by the Senior Center to fill out the form or download it at http:// emeryvilleorg/150/50-Adults
Refunds and cancellations will only be considered if they are requested within 14 days prior to the start date of the scheduled activity In the event the Community Services Department cancels a class or program (due to inclement weather, low enrollment, etc), a refund or make-up program will be offered If the participant is unable to attend a class or program due to personal reasons outside of the dates specified, a refund or make-up lesson will not be granted (including pro-rated refunds).
A $10.00 administrative fee will be applied, per customer, for each refund/cancellation. This fee may be deducted from the total refund amount if requested
*Certain Specified Senior Trip refunds must be requested within 30 days prior of the date of the trip These will be specified in the Senior Center Newsletter “The LINK”

Iaido is a classical Japanese martial art that is over 400 years old and focuses on drawing and using a samurai sword The original purpose of Iaido was to counter a surprise attach, but nowaways it is an excellent system for developing awareness, calm mind, and mental and physical harmony through the practice of traditional sword techniques.
Taiko is the art of Japanese drumming, which develops selfexpression and musical creativity This course engages in uchikomi based practice The participants should have both a sense of rhythm and a stamina to hit taiko for two hours. In each class, everyone will participate by playing on actual drums. Minimum age is eighteen years old. *Additional $120 supply fee per six-week session ($140 for seven-week session) payable to instructor at first class
