National Employee Appreciation Day #ThanksToThem March 4th marked the annual National Employee Appreciation Day (NEAD) celebration, where we took time and encouraged our guests to tell our team members how much they appreciated them. Recognition for teams included guest signed banners, cookouts, potlucks, ice cream social breaks, bowling parties, raffles, and more. Mardi Gras The good times were rolling on Tuesday, February 1st! Our dining facilities across the U.S. turned on the jazz music, fired up the grills, and celebrated Mardi Gras. There were no empty stomachs after this lunch! Airmen enjoyed a full menu of creole recipes like Shrimp and Grits, Jambalaya, Dirty Rice, and King Cake Muffins. Masks and beads decorated the stations as our teams handed out King Cake. Transactions: 25,896 Sales: $43,557
St. Patrick’s Day With a touch of Irish luck and a whole lot of flavor and fun, we had a delicious celebration for everyone to enjoy! Six dining facilities featured this holiday menu with Apple Glazed Corned Beef, Citrus Herb Salmon, and Vegetarian Shepard's Pie. What a lucky day indeed! Transactions: 7,084 Sales: $12,095 Let’s Go! F. E. Warren AFB’s Warrior Chef Wake & Bake On March 4, F. E. Warren’s Chadwell Dining Facility hosted a Warrior Chef competition where three teams battled it out to create the best pizza. A panel of four judges voted based on flavor, presentation, and cooking skills used. Congratulations to the winning team, Wake & Bake, with their Four Meat BBQ Pizza! The pizza, created by Daniela Wakeley and A1C Ryan Wakeley, featured pepperoni, ham, bacon, and chicken. Great job to the other teams; “911” with Alley Herrley and Misty Kopp Little, “TwinkLet-It’s” with Abe Mendez and Lisa Marie Modell.

We launched a menu refresh at the end of January for our entrée station, breakfast bar, and salad bar.. Our Executive Chef, Chuck Braun, with the support of chefs from each of the bases, updated the menus with new and exciting recipes. The entrée station experienced the most significant change, having created a Mindful Plate destination at the station during lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On these days, the Mindful plate card (example pictured left) is posted at the station showing a photo of the foods included, the full nutritional information, a My Fitness Pal barcode, and all the ingredients. For more information about Mindful’s nutritional criteria, please click here. In March, we surveyed 175 guests. 131 surveyed said they had tried our new Mindful recipes. We asked them to rate them out of 5 stars, and we received an excellent 4.31-star rating. Let’s Go! FLY by Sodexo
