Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is a very special holiday for our bases and their Airmen. Air Force officers and facility management team members helped serve lunch and dinner to our Airmen and their families on this special day.

As you can see, these meals bring our communities together to enjoy the delicious tastes of home.

Veteran’s Day On November 11th, we prepared a delicious meal to honor Veteran’s Day. The lunch featured Flank Steak Romesco, Shrimp & Grits, and Fried Chicken. We are honored to be a part of this distinguished contract so we may support the mission and serve delicious meals, like these, for our Airmen, their families, and base personnel.

Merry Christmas!

This year’s Christmas meal was served for lunch and dinner to ensure everyone who dined with us could celebrate safely.

Several bases added extra holiday cheer for our Airmen with gingerbread house competitions and displays, ugly Christmas sweaters, and of course, our traditional yet tasty menu to top it all off. Our holiday entrees included Roast Beef, Carved Pit Ham, and Cranberry Dijon Chicken served with all the savory sides.

Seymour Johnson’s Culinary Training Graduation Graduation season is here! This past year we launched our first cohort for our Learning To FLY: Advanced Culinary Training program. Learning To FLY was created to help Airmen working in the dining facility who are passionate and eager about the culinary field further develop their skills in the kitchen. The program takes the students through an 11-course syllabus taught by our Sodexo Executive Chefs. At the end of the course, the students prepare a culinary presentation of their learned skills to base leadership.

Congratulations to SSGT Michael Baez (pictured left), Jaqueta Turner (pictured center), and Amn. Stacia Riviere (pictured right), our graduates at Seymour Johnson AFB! Together, they prepared a menu featuring Assorted MiniTarts, Pork Loin en Croute, Komb Braised Tempeh, Zucchini & Squash with Carrot Ribbons, Fondant Potatoes, Chocolate Mousse, and Strawberry Shortcake for their graduation presentation.

Dragon Lair Kiosk Grand Opening On December 15th, we opened Beale AFB’s new Dragon Lair Flightline Kiosk. The kiosk offers a selection of hot and cold breakfast, lunch, and dinner options five days a week close to the operators on the flightline, who have limited time to travel for their breaks. The base was excited to exceed customer expectations and increase food and beverage offerings across the installation.

Operation Air Force Angels This holiday season, the team at Seymour Johnson ran a toy drive for the local Wayne County Partnership for Children Program. They gathered enough toy donations for 50+ children and their families this holiday season. We are so proud of all your community support, team SJAFB! Great job!

Each year, during the Christmas season, several bases plan gingerbread house competitions, allowing dining facility team members and Airmen to compete and show off their artistic skills with sugar. These events boost morale, encourage teamwork and, improve creativity.

2021 Healthy Initiatives Over the past year, we continued to grow our offers around healthier foods and push our program and marketing efforts on how Airmen can eat more nutritious foods in our dining facilities.

Great examples of how we did this include: • 39 % of our Limited Time Offers (LTOs) were GreenCoded, Plant-Based/Vegetarian, or Mindful recipes • The launch of our Healthy Rewards Loyalty Program in October.

• Enabled us to build our partnership with the base dietitians/nutritionists to promote and educate Airmen at events in the DFAC • Providing a healthy eating brochure used to educate Airmen about the food labels/logos used in the DFAC • Launch of our Healthy Snacking Initiative in April • Brought in healthier snack options and positioned them in the DFAC for ease of access We are excited to continue building our program around healthy eating and can’t wait to showcase our upcoming offers!
