Dear Member,

Welcome to September!

It’s hard to believe that autumn arrives in a few short weeks. Your public television stations have been busy getting ready for our Action Auction, continuing work on two new local projects and launching new episodes of our podcasts, Rodney Veal’s Inspired By and For the Love of EdTech

First, I want to thank our members who joined or renewed their support during our August Membership Campaign. Your support makes everything we do possible – from local productions, to educational initiatives to PBS programming – it’s all possible because of you.

Our Action Auction returns September 10 – 17. This year’s auction will be online only through GiveSmart and features unique items, gift cards to restaurants, wine and much more. Be sure to bid high and bid often!

Work continues on our new regional community affairs program about rebuilding our cities. The series will take a Solution Journalism approach focused on what the news misses most often: how people are trying to solve problems and what we can learn from their success or failures. Our production department also continues to work on our new one-hour documentary about Bing

Davis, an African American artist, activist and educator from Dayton who came of age in the civil rights era.

New episodes of our local arts programs, SHOWCASE with Barbara Kellar and The Art Show, came out over the summer. If you missed any of them, you can stream them on the PBS App.

PBS programming in September features the return of several mysteries. Professor T (UK version) finds Professor Jasper Tempest, a genius criminologist with several neurological disorders, helping police solve their most difficult cases. Masterpiece’s “Unforgotten” returns for Season 5 and actress Sinead Keenan joins the cast as newcomer DCI Jessica James. And Dutch detective Piet Van der Valk returns for Season 3 of Masterpiece’s “Van der Valk.”

American Outdoors with Baratunde Thurston returns for Season 2 and explores our outdoor culture in Utah, Maine, Oregon, New Mexico, Arkansas and the Suwanee River in Georgia and Florida. The premiere of Evolution Earth shows how new animal behaviors are revealing insights into the story of our changing planet and offers a look at how Earth is evolving at super speed.

From podcasts to local programming to events to PBS programming – it’s all possible because of your support. Thank you.
