CITY UPDATES
CITY RECOGNIZES PUBLIC WORKS FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE
The City extends its sincere appreciation to all first responders for their tireless efforts following Friday evening’s storm. In particular, we wish to recognize the outstanding service of our Public Works team. Over the course of the weekend, these dedicated employees worked diligently to support Downtown residents with storm cleanup. Their responsibilities included cutting and hauling away fallen trees, removing debris, and restoring safe and accessible conditions throughout our community. Their actions reflect not only exceptional teamwork but also a steadfast commitment to serving the residents of Celina. The City and community are deeply grateful for their professionalism and dedication in the face of challenging circumstances.


CITY OF CELINA TO HOST FIRE STATION #2 OPEN HOUSE
The City of Celina is pleased to host the Fire Station #2 Open House on Saturday, September 13, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 1805 Light Farms Way, Celina, TX 75009. This free, family-friendly event provides residents with a unique opportunity to engage with the Celina Fire Department, tour the station, and view fire trucks and emergency equipment up close. Throughout the event, attendees will gain valuable insight into the vital role our fire-
fighters play in protecting and serving the community. The open house is designed to be both educational and engaging, offering guests of all ages an inside look at fire safety practices and emergency response operations.
This event represents an important opportunity for residents to connect with their local first responders, ask questions, and strengthen community partnerships. We look forward to welcoming the public and showcasing the outstanding service of the Celina Fire Department.
CELINA FIREFIGHTERS PARTICIPATE IN DALLAS 9/11 MEMORIAL STAIR CLIMB
This past weekend, several members of the Celina Fire Department traveled to Dallas to participate in the Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Joined by firefighters from across the region, our team climbed 110 stories in full gear to honor the memory of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives 24 years ago on September 11, 2001.
The City extends its gratitude to the Celina Fire Department members who participated in this solemn tribute, ensuring the legacy of these fallen heroes continues to be honored and remembered. Representing Celina at the event were Firefighter Nick Lamb, Firefighter Jeff Jones, Firefighter Bailey Jones, Firefighter Hahnur Kim, Driver/ Engineer Alex Jenkins, Captain Nick Boroski, Firefighter Garrett Lane, Battalion Chief Matt Jones, and Firefighter Tyler Rigsby. The City commends these individuals for their dedication, professionalism, and continued commitment to the promise that we will never forget.

CHIEF JOHN CULLISON SPEAKS WITH MEDIA ON STUDENT SAFETY
Police Chief John Cullison recently conducted interviews with WFAA (ABC 5) and KXAS (NBC 5) to address a public safety concern involving local high school seniors. The interviews followed a 911 call reporting a man with a gun, which was later determined to be students participating in “Senior Assassin,” a prank game involving water guns. Chief Cullison emphasized the seriousness of such incidents, noting the potential risks and commu-
nity disruption they can cause, while urging students and parents to recognize the dangers of this activity and exercise caution to prevent future misunderstandings.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT RECEIVES SILVER CIRCLE AWARD
The City congratulates the Marketing & Communications Department for receiving a Silver Circle Award in the prestigious Savvy Awards, presented annually at the 3CMA Conference, for its work on the Life Connected. Magazine. Established 30 years ago, the Savvy Awards recognize excellence in government communications, highlighting innovative and impactful public sector messaging. This achievement marks the first time the City has been honored with a Savvy Award, reflecting the department’s dedication to high-quality communications and its commitment to connecting with our community in meaningful ways.
CITY TO HOST QUARTERLY BUILDERS LUNCHEON
The City of Celina will host its upcoming Quarterly Builders Luncheon on Thursday, September 18, at 11:30 AM in the Celina City Council Chambers, located at 112 N. Colorado Street. This luncheon offers a valuable opportunity for residential track builders to connect with key City staff, including representatives from the Building Services and Planning Divisions. The objective of this gathering is to foster open communication, address current challenges, and receive constructive feedback from our builder partners.
The agenda for the luncheon will include a Storm Water presentation by Jeremy Knoch, a discussion on current subdivision issues, a software update, and an overview of the 2024 ICC Code adoption. A general question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
CELEBRATING YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AT THE LIBRARY
The City of Celina is pleased to report the success of the Summer Reading Program 2025. A total of 136 children completed the program by meeting the minimum reading requirement of 750 minutes.
During the program period, from May 30 to July 25, the Celina Public Library welcomed 8,778 visitors, with 479 new patrons registering for library cards. Each Friday, participants had the opportunity to engage with a variety of special guests and performers. Highlights included Marshmallow the Dairy Cow and her farmer, as well as interactive storytimes and activities hosted by the City’s Police, Fire, and Public Works departments. These events provided meaningful engagement for over 100 children and their families, fostering a love of reading and strengthening community connections.
UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN CENTER AND PARKING GARAGE
Swinerton, the City’s general contractor, has provided a comprehensive progress update on three key downtown projects:
PARKING GARAGE: Crews are finalizing the brick lintel installation, with the east brick façade completed and stone cap installation underway. Brickwork continues along the south elevation. Fire suppression, plumbing, and electrical connections are progressing, elevator systems are advancing, and wiring is being pulled to the transformer in preparation for permanent power.
DOWNTOWN CENTER: Work continues with the forming and pouring of walls, reflecting steady progress on the structure as construction advances on schedule.
N. ARIZONA DR: The new fence line is being installed along North Arizona Drive in preparation for a traffic shift. This will allow demolition activities to begin on Monday, keeping the project aligned with planned milestones.
EMPLOYEE ADVANCEMENTS AND RECOGNITION
The City of Celina acknowledges the progression plan advancement of Jason Fabbri, Building Inspector III, which reflects his continued professional growth and commitment to career development. These appointments and advancements underscore the City’s dedication to recognizing individual achievement while maintaining a highly skilled and dedicated workforce.

DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION
As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams.
It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Efforts will be made to ensure that lane closures are coordinated to prevent conflicts within overlapping work zones. Additionally, closures will be implemented at construction exits on an as-needed basis to support safe and efficient construction operations.
Wednesday, September 10, through Friday, September 12, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM:
• The right turn lane of westbound FM 428 at Dallas Pkwy will be closed daily.
Friday, September 12, through Saturday, September 13, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM:
• All lanes of eastbound and westbound Prosper Trl between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed overnight.
Monday, September 15, through Wednesday, September 17, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM:
• The right lane of Frontier Pkwy between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed daily.
Monday, September 15, through Saturday, September 20, from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM:
• The northbound and southbound left lanes of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily.
• The right turn lane of westbound FM 428 at Dallas Pkwy will be closed daily.
