CITY UPDATES

INTRODUCTION OF FLOCK CAMERAS TO OUR COMMUNITY

This week, the Celina Police Department introduced Flock Cameras to our community through social media channels. Strategically placed at key intersections and thoroughfares throughout Celina, these advanced cameras are designed to enhance public safety. The system captures vehicle information and sends real-time alerts to law enforcement when a stolen vehicle or a vehicle associated with a known wanted suspect from state or national crime databases is detected. Additionally, the system is programmed to notify officers if a vehicle linked to a missing person in an AMBER or Silver Alert is identified.

To ensure transparency and foster a clear understanding of the system, the Police Department is actively collaborating with our Marketing Team to produce educational videos. These videos will inform residents about the purpose and benefits of the Flock Cameras, as well as address any concerns regarding privacy and the operation of the system. A dedicated website will also be created to provide further information, ensuring residents have access to accurate details and can remain well-informed about the cameras and their role in keeping Celina safe.

DOWNTOWN PARKING GARAGE PROJECT UPDATE

Due to recent weather conditions, the project experienced two days of downtime. In the upcoming week, construction activities will focus on slab-on-grade (SOG) preparation, including the installation of the vapor barrier and rebar, followed by the first SOG pour. Concurrently, underground mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) work will continue in other areas of the site. Additionally, preparations for the second SOG pour will be underway, with the goal of completing the pour by the end of the week, pending favorable conditions.

COFFEE WITH THE CONTRACTORS SET FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26

Swinerton will host its next Coffee with the Contractors on Wednesday, February 26, at 9:00 AM at their field office, located at 112 N. Arizona Dr. As construction progresses on the Downtown Center and Parking Garage, this event offers a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to engage directly with project managers and team members, receive construction updates, and discuss key aspects of the project.

FIRST TOWN HALL MEETING SET FOR THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27

The City of Celina and Celina ISD will host the first of two joint Town Hall Meetings on Thursday, February 27, at 6:30 PM at O’Dell Elementary School (750 Punk Carter Pkwy). These meetings will provide residents with key updates on the City’s growth, major initiatives, and priorities, as well as important developments within Celina ISD. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from City and school district leadership about the advancements shaping Celina’s future. A food truck will be available at 6:00 PM, with the first 50 meals provided for free.

CELINA EDC BRANDING INITIATIVE WITH NORTH STAR MARKETING

As part of the Celina Economic Development Corporation’s (EDC) branding initiative, the EDC will be launching the Celina Community Survey in collaboration with North Star Marketing. This survey aims to gather valuable input from residents and local businesses to inform and shape the EDC’s evolving brand identity. The survey will remain open until mid-April.

The EDC, in partnership with the Marketing Department, will actively promote the survey to ensure widespread participation. This collaboration is crucial to the EDC’s efforts to refine and communicate Celina’s brand, highlighting the city’s strengths and unique identity. Resident and business owner feedback is vital, as it will directly influence how Celina is positioned and represented both locally and beyond. CLICK HERE TO TAKE THE SURVEY

DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

As part of the ongoing work on the DNT Phase 4A project, please be advised that crews will be implementing the upcoming lane closures. These closures are necessary for transporting topsoil, performing a mass haul of materials, and completing clean-up work in the affected areas. Please note that the entire left lanes will not be closed, and we will ensure there are no conflicts between lane closures within the same areas. Additional closures will occur at construction exits as needed to maintain safety and efficient traffic flow.

Monday, February 24, through Saturday, March 1, from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM

• The daily northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428
