2021 年台灣建築評審團獎得獎感言

高爾夫球俱樂部（Tai-Fong Golf Club，簡稱
TFGC）一舉奪下 2021 年台灣建築獎首度頒
發的「評審團獎」，理由為：
在建築語言紛亂、缺乏節制的時代中，台 豐球場設計的嘉卿會所、西薩會所有著純 粹的極簡風格，在多變的自然環境中顯示 自律嚴謹的設計態度，內斂而含蓄，有著 豐富的人文質感。
試舉其要，TFGC 曾經考慮的建築師人選 還包括來自瑞士的建築師赫爾佐格和德梅
隆（ Herzog & de Meuron Architekten ；
簡稱 H&deM）以及彼得•卒姆托（Peter Zumthor）。比起 1992 年拿下全球建築界
最高榮譽普立茲克獎（Pritzker Architecture
Prize）的西薩，他們不遑多讓，也分別曾
在 2001 年與 2009 年摘下桂冠，但是最後仍
由慢工出細活的資深前輩出線。如今，耄耋之 年的西薩再次證明自己寶刀未老。
本篇得獎感言之翻譯工作係《建築師雜誌》的 直接委託，非常榮幸！但是，有鑑於筆者除 了為目前國內多數媒體報導均會引述的 TFGC 官方網站「會所建築」項目執筆之外，還有 去年一共五篇專題文章的書寫，其中包含翻譯 一篇卡斯達內拉回顧設計過程的長文之經驗 （詳見文末延伸閱讀），故在翻譯本次得獎感 言時識讀出許多言外之意。於是，在此另闢 機會，搭配量化數據，輔以質性分析，旨在 投射翻譯版（translation）沒有的知識光線， 附上英文原稿對照的同時，提供以下譯寫版 （interpretation）刺激讀者們做進階思考。

It's been a long time since our sailors arrived on a beautiful island and gave it the beautiful name of Ilha Formosa. When we landed on Formosa eleven years ago, we were very curious if our ancestors had reasons to bestow such a beautiful name on this island. With great affection and above all comfort, we received from our client a desire for the highest quality of work from us. We always like to visit new places and meet people. Making architecture is something more than making drawings. A lot of empathy is needed between architects and clients.
In fact, the clients are the great architects defining the possibilities for us, giving us support, and supporting us in the constant and inevitable struggles with the countless actors that are part of the design process from its beginning to the conclusion of the project and construction. The courses at The Taifong Golf Course were long. I really think it has more than eighteen holes. But all obstacles were resolved.
Empathy was always present in all the projects developed and built in Taiwan and China. The projects for Paul Lin, Lilin Hsu and now for John Lin, were always much discussed, much felt by everyone in my team. The project had its usual advances and setbacks. Our creative process, guided sometimes by doubt, never compromises the creative architectural expression.
自從葡萄牙水手航行、停靠一座得名福爾摩沙（Ilha Formosa）的美麗島嶼至今，已經有數個世紀之遙。十一
年前，當我們抵達這片土地的時候，不禁對於我們的祖先 賦予她如此動人之名號的原因，感到非常地好奇。基於誠 摯的託付熱情以及──尤其重要地──充分的發揮空間， 我們清楚地收到來自業主對於最高品質的明確要求。我們 總是樂於到訪沒去過的地方和接觸不同的人群，畢竟 打造 （making）建築不光是生產圖紙，建築師和客戶之間許多 的默契和同理心（empathy）也是每個經典作品必要的構 成條件。
事實上，我們的業主也是傑出的「建築師」， TFGC 董事長
林伯實和夫人為我們提出了更多空間定位的可能性，並且 在前後四十多個方案取捨過程中全力幫助我們，指點江山： 從最早的提案到最終的定案，對我們在漫長的設計發展和 工程推演期間、抑或交涉無數相關業者的時刻，總是無條 件支持。占地七十甲的 TFGC 球道非常長，基於迎賓和擊 球動線的考慮（施工期間球場仍開放局部使用），在整體 規劃上我們甚至覺得超過十八洞、七十二桿的標準幅員， 猶如為了維護會員使用權益採分期營建──先在 2016 年 啟用西薩會所（Siza House），然後 2020 年開放嘉卿會所 （Chia-Ching House）──這一路走來數不清的各種挑戰 紛至沓來，但是所有障礙終究都被一一克服，即將完工的 茶屋（Tea House）和門房（Gate House）同樣令人期待。
從前，同業總是對於在台灣或中國執行建築項目的機會敬 而遠之，直到 TFGC ──甚或經由同一業主委託的江蘇淮 安實聯水上大樓（ ArchDaily 2015 年全球辦公室建築第一 名）──讓他們徹底改觀了。如今，和林董伉儷與哲嗣的共 事經驗受到大家關注與積極討論，事務所裡所有人的經驗 都因為這些合作的洗禮而受惠。我們創意發想無限，往往 由疑難雜症發軔，卻從來不會因為與現實妥協而折衷了建 築上的意匠表現（creative architectural expression）：「在 大地美景中揮桿寫詩」，正是《Shopping Design》雜誌冊 封 TFGC 為 2021 Taiwan Design Best 100「年度建築空 間規劃（ Architecture & Space of the Year）」得主的註腳，
建築如雕塑般徜徉果嶺，襯托球友、選手與賽事融於地景。

Our visits to Taiwan were regular and very intense. Our Clients traveled to Portugal to get to know us better and work together. The local teams, who always gave us unconditional and professional support, were of great importance for the excellent final result. Architecture is a team work.
Architecture is above all the balance between full and empty, light and shadow, open and closed, landscape and construction, function and form, and use and comfort: the persistence of wanting to do well. When starting a project, you want to interpret the clients' objectives, interpret the location, interpret the program, reflect on how and what to propose. When all these goals are accomplished and the client and architects are pleased with the final result, then Architecture is created.
Although we are not golfers, receiving such a special award from the 2021 Taiwan Architecture Jury Prize is like putting a hole in one. But luck is not a matter of chance. It was all made by us.
We thank the Jury of the Taiwan Architecture Prize 2021, for such a prestigious and special award. We extend our special thanks to all who participated in this project and construction. 十年磨一劍，這段時間我們親自或派員頻繁而密集地造訪台灣， 業主也不惜遠赴葡萄牙，實際瞭解我們在事務所的執業情形與 分工狀況。戰戰競競，經年駐守在基地現場運籌帷幄、提供我們 無私與專業協助的在地團隊，包括黃明威、侯貞夙和廖嘉舜等 建築師們及其團隊各位從業人員，同在一條船上的革命情感，更 是這次台灣建築獎喜訊居功厥偉的最大功臣！對我們來說，年度 評審團獎這個最高榮譽的獲獎意義，不外乎再一次說明團隊合作 （team work）就是建築的基石，從來不是個人表演（one man show）。
自始至終，建築關乎平衡（balance）：虛、實；明、暗；收、放；動、靜； 自然、人造；功能、形式；還有，與人為善、把事情做好（to do well）的堅持。每當我們啟動一個項目，作為建築師，無非是希 望能夠藉由設計反應「是什麼（what）」、以及透過「如何是（how） ／為何是（why）」來詮釋（interpret）客戶的目標、基地的堂奧、 計畫的縝密。一旦諸項臻於至善，而且業主和建築師雙方都對於 營造成果感到皆大歡喜，使用者心滿意足，建築（architecture） ──而不只是建築物（building）──於焉就這麼出現了！
即使我們不是身懷絕技的高爾夫球選手，有幸能受到台灣建築 獎專家學者的青睞、迎來 2021 年評審團大獎的殊榮，就像是一
桿進洞般地大快人心！然而，幸運向來不會平白無故地從天而降， 點點滴滴的福氣全都來自我們事必躬親的一步一腳印，才能夠 為台灣放眼國際的建築里程碑再下一城。
茲此，為這一次卓越而與眾不同的獎項，我們由衷地感激 2021 年台灣建築獎的評審團成員，並且對所有參與這個項目各個環節 的業務夥伴與工作人員致上崇高敬意。最後，在此向業主闔家獻 上特別的祝福：大大地恭喜載譽四十年的台豐高爾夫球場，大大 地擁抱永遠陪伴在我們身邊的您們和每一位 TFGC 的親歷者。
