WINTER 2022 GOLDEN AGE

Active

Living

Active Living classes are designed specifically for people who have any type of chronic condition. Trained and talented instructors are careful to offer modifications that address the needs of our participants in classes that include all of the major components of a fitness class. This program will be offered in person in 2022 with a senior’s membership and virtually via Zoom ($18/month). Please contact Cathy Bjorndalen with any questions at cbjorndalen@cjcc ca or 403-537-8598.

GOLDEN AGE

Easy Going This class is geared toward adults who are looking for a gentler approach to fitness. The warm up and strength training are done while seated. Because weight-bearing exercise is so important, walking, posture (against a wall) and balance (holding on to a dance bar) will be done standing. Keep Going This class is for adults with a chronic condition who are looking for a little more challenge, but still want a low impact class that is easy on the joints. The entire class is done standing and offers various formats to keep it interesting. Get Going Features walking, seated and standing movement for the cardio component. Strength, balance and flexibility training are done seated or standing behind a chair. Join us for a functional fitness class to help with the various activities of everyday living. Tuesdays and Fridays feature extra focus on balance and strength training.

Gentle Chair Yoga This class is perfect for participants looking for a softer approach. Enjoy moving in and out of poses slowly with a focus on breathing, strengthening, and stretching exercises. We will explore breath work to promote relaxation. Urban Poling Indoor / Outdoor walking with activator poles. A great prescription for overall health, wellness, and rehabilitation for EVERYONE. The use of speciallydesigned activator poles improves your balance, core strength, posture, and reduces impact on joints. Poles provided by the JCC for your use in each class. Bone Builder A relaxed, low-intensity session where we emphasize movement, stretching, and strength exercises designed to help you with life’s everyday activities. Chair Dancing Enjoy music and movement in this fun class. Most choreography is done seated with an option to stand for those who prefer. No dance experience necessary.
