Tonight we face Aberystwyth in the 5th of the 10 Second Phase games. Of the 4 games played, we have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 1. With 6 games left to play there is still a long way to go until the play-off and relegation places are decided, so our focus now has to be to get back to winning ways. In the First Phase, honours were even between Town and Aber with both teams winning their home fixture.
We were all disappointed with the performance at Pontypridd last weekend especially the first half, and although there was an improvement in the second half it was overall a lack-lustre performance. We need to put that game behind us, have faith in our own ability and demonstrate from the first whistle the talent we have in the squad.
It was great to see a packed Oval for the game against Fflint the other week – the support and atmosphere was tremendous. Please can I ask for more of the same tonight – things are getting tight in the league with only 7 points separating the top 5 teams. It’s when the going gets tough that the support is most needed!
I would like to congratulate Sion Bradley on his selection for the Wales C squad for the England C fixture at Altringham next Tuesday night. Llongyfarchiadau mawr iti Brads – yn falch iawn ohonot ac yn edrych ymlaen i dy weld yng nghrys coch Cymru nos Fawrth! Pob hwyl i ti, Mark Jones a’r tîm!

CAERNARFON 2 - 2 FLINT TOWN UNITED 24.2.2023
Caernarfon and Flint fought out an entertaining four goal thriller on Friday evening in front of six hundred spectators at the Oval.
Itwas the third match betweenthe sides this season and, with both sides havingwon one of those fixtures, this latest encounter promised to be tight and so it proved.
The Cofis sprinted out of the traps and were on top early doors, with Noah Edwards forcingvisiting keeperHarry Allen in the fifth minute, and the stopperalso doingwell to hold on to a Marsh Hughes header from the rebound.
When Darren Thomas was broughtdown in the tenth minute and twenty five yards from goal, Sion Bradley stepped up for the free kick and his effortbeatthe wall but not Allen, who acrobatically tipped the ball over his bar.
The first goal arrived justa minute later when Bradley skipped round the onrushing Allen and clipped the ball to the far post, where Marsh-Hughes arrived to head into the onion bag.
It was the least the hosts had deserved but, as dominant as they had been in the opening minutes, the let Flint into the match and the visitors responded well by taking control of possession and they put the Cofis underpressure with their direct style.
They were rewarded in the twenty fourth minute after a loping ball into the Caernarfon area was headed on by Brandon Diau and the ball eventually fell to Clarke, who finished at the second attempt from close range.
Bradley threatened to restore Caernarfon’s lead in the thirty fifth minute when he carried the ball from midfield to the edge of the Flint area and struck a low effort that beat the diving Allen but struck the upright and out of play.
Allen was back in the action three minutes later after Danny Gosset found Thomas with a ball that Town’s numberten took in his stride as he sped into Flint’s box, and the onrushing keeper pulled off a great save to deny a second Caernarfon goal.
In an almost identical start to the second period Caernarfon put their foot to the peddle and wenton the offensive, the resultof which saw Bradley outrun Diau into the box and he slotted the ball past Allen to give the Cofis the lead.
Darren Thomas was next to threaten when the ball fell to him from a half cleared
Darren Thomas was next to threaten when the ball fell to him from a half cleared corner, but Town’s talisman could not find the target from twenty yards. Man of the match Sion Bradley linked up well with Iwan Cartwright in the seventy fifth minute in a move that saw the latter get to the byline and cross into the six yard area where Gossetarrived but was stretching a little too much to get his header on target, and the ball flew three inches over the bar.
Flint got back on level terms for a second time with eight minutes remaining when Caernarfon failed to adequately clear a ball into their box and James Owen found the net from twenty yards.
Caernarfon should have wrapped up the points in the third and final minute of injury time when Noah Edwards beat his man on his way into the Flint box and, with Allen approaching him, the Town captain played the ball cross the six yard area when he could possibly have gone for goal himself.
Town will be back in action in two weeks when they travel to Pontypridd.
