Golf News

It is such a great feeling to have the golf season back in full swing! The course is growing-in nicely and temperatures are on the rise. I want to thank Brad Erickson and his team for their tremendous efforts in getting the course out of dormancy. Since the turf is still in a state of infancy, here are a few things that you can do to help protect the course from damage.
Keep all four tires of your golf cart on the cart path.
Fill your divots with sand mix. If you have time, fill in one or two additional divots as well.
Repair your ball marks. If you have time, fix one or two additional ball marks as well.
Do not leave tees in the ground and dispose of your broken tees.
Enter and exit bunkers at the lowest edge and smooth your footprints with the available rakes.
Avoid driving push carts on or around the greens and tee boxes.
In April, we had our first two golf tournaments, the Masters Par 3 contest and the Saturday at The Masters stroke play event. Both tournaments were well attended and the weather worked out in our favor. The heart of the tournament season is quickly approaching so please visit the Golf Genius app using the GGID "BCC24" to view the upcoming schedule. April also saw the return of ladies golf with the 18-hole ladies, 9hole ladies, and the newly reformed "Up to Par" series. All three programs have been a huge success and it is very exciting to see a large batch of newcomers to the game. We look forward to solidifying a lifelong connection to golf for all of these individuals.

BCC Golf Team Stack Challenge
Final Assessment Results

The BCC Golf Team finished the Foundation speed training program of The Stack System. See the table below, which includes everyone’s baseline and final driver speed, as well as the distance potential before and after training!

Thoughts/Observations:
1.)Adherence to the program is a must for best results! Vacations, planned time off, and other factors prevented every contestant from fully adhering to the program. The Final Assessment was pushed back to give everyone time to finish the program. The delay seemed to come with a slight drop off in speed. I am interested to see the results with a group that adheres to the program. Click the Stack logo for more information on Stack!

2.)Stack works! Even though we did not fully adhere to the program, 5 of 6 contestants saw an increase of speed, from 1 to 5 mph. I believe we could have seen 5-10 mph increases if the program was done to the best of ability, but life does get in the way sometimes!
For more information on speed training, contact Andrew (andrew@bccgolf.org) or (615) 373-2552 Ext. 502.
Summer of Fun!

Spring Semester is ending, PGA Junior League is around the corner, and Camp planning is taking place!
The “Swing into Spring” semester will end this coming Monday, May 6! The juniors have enjoyed two months of physical activity, learning about driving, chipping, and putting, and ice cream challenges! We are seeing more families frequenting the practice facilities. Practice is so much more fun with friends!

The junior golf activity will continue to ramp up this month, with both of BCC’s PGA Junior League teams starting practice. During the months of June and July, we will be hosting several matches at BCC. All home matches will begin at 5:00 PM, so the tee sheet will be “blocked” beginning at 3:00 PM on match days. All play will resume at 5:10 PM on hole 10. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we provide our juniors with more on-course opportunities than ever before!

For more information on the 2024 BCC Junior Golf Programs, please visit our website www.bcctn.org, or contact Andrew (andrew@bccgolf.org).

BCC Members,

It's nice to see the golf course greening up, and we hope you are enjoying the new course so far. We have several things we are working on and wanted to keep you updated on what's happening. We have started constructing a bigger, more usable nursery green to the right of hole #5. We are essentially doubling the previous nursery green. We will also install a Tahoma nursery for small sod projects we encounter on the course in the future. In conjunction with Bill Bergin, Southeastern Golf will begin bringing in a finish crew to level out settled collars and address punch list items we have identified starting Monday, April 29th. We hope to have these items corrected and addressed by the end of May with as little disruption as possible. On Monday, April 22, we decided to aerify greens #1 and 10, along with the Patio Green and small areas of greens on the course. This was the quickest way to apply necessary growth treatments to speed the grow-in process for these weakest greens. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this very important grow-in process of a new golf course. We apologize if this affects your game in the near future, but know this process will pay dividends for our golf course as we move forward.
We look forward to seeing you on the links.

BCC Members,

Hello and happy springtime. We hope everyone ’ s enjoying the seasonable weather and is planning for an active summer ahead. May is when the club is at its peak. The beautiful golf course is growing nicely, our pool will open mid-month, and the restaurants are action-packed. Brentwood Country Club is alive and well.
From the Food and Beverage department, we are as busy as ever. We recently opened our new dinner menu with the Tortellini pasta and Korean Beef Tips, which are selling well along with our nightly specials. The restaurants are progressively more active as our nightly covers keep growing, so please call ahead so we may do our best to serve and prepare properly. Sunday brunches will also be big with Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo on the horizon, so please come in and visit us as you will be pleased.
Thank you all for your support, and see you around the club.
Sincerely,
Chef Perry and the Food and Beverage Team
