Golf News

April is always a great month to be at BCC. The grass starts to turn green again, temperatures begin to rise, and golfers are gearing up for tournament competition. We are very excited to begin the first fully open golf season since the golf course renovation. If you remember from last year, we delayed the start of the tournament season in an effort to allow the golf course to continue growing in. Our first few events have opened for registration already and the turnout is looking great. We have a couple of new/returning events on the calendar in the way of the Nine & Wine (April 23) as well as the Steak & Brew (May 21). A new, year-long competition was announced recently, the Aces Club, which has a lot of Buzz around it. If you are in the Aces Club, and you achieve a hole-in-one (with all the proper qualifications), you will get rewarded with up to $1800 in credit that will be split 70/30 towards your overall monthly bill and in Golf Shop credit. If you haven't signed up to be a part of the Aces Club or would like more information, please call the Golf Shop.

April is also the best time to fill up on all your golf needs and wants. Be sure to stop by the Golf Shop to see our newest Spring arrivals. We have new brands such as Holderness & Bourne for the men and Renwick for the ladies. There is also an added mixture of both the traditional BCC tree logo as well as the new alternative Spearhead logo. Fitting Days will continue throughout April and May with our multiple golf club manufacturers, so be on the lookout for sign up opportunities in the weekly newsletter. 2025 is set up to be one of the best years in club history and we are excited to have you being a part of it. If there is anything we can do to make your golf season better, please do not hesitate to contact the Golf Shop.

2025 Junior Program Update

BCC junior golfers are off and running!

Thank you to all who signed up for Junior Golf activities at BCC! Many of our clinics, camps, and leagues are sold out, and waitlists have been started for several programs. What a testament to the strength and vibrancy of the membership at Brentwood Country Club!

In March, the “Swing into Spring” clinics went full throttle! We have 52 junior golfers, between the ages of 6-15, participating in clinics on Monday and Thursday evenings, and the 8-week clinic program will continue through the first half of May We apologize for any disruption this may cause to the practice facilitiy space on Thursdays, and appreciate your understanding as we foster the growth and development of our young golfers!

During each clinic, the juniors participate in physical activity and golf activity stations The emphasis is placed on training athletic skills, as well as golf skills, with age appropriate activities, fun drills and challenges, and great sportsmanship The curriculum we are using is backed by years of research by the United States Olympic Committee, in partnership with the major organizing bodies of golf, including the PGA, USGA, The Masters, and others! Our goal is to develop each child to be the best person, athlete, and golfer possible!

2025 Up to Par Expansion

In 2024. we introduced the “Up to Par” program to the PGA Junior League teams and our beginner lady golfers. This year, we are expanding the program to reach more members!

The goal of “Up to Par” is to develop golfers for life through challenges, instruction, coaching, and etiquette education. Every golfer in the “Up to Par” program starts 50 yards from the green. The objective is to score 36 or below, in nine (9) holes, from 50 yards. Once a player has passed 50, they move back to 100, 150, 200, and finally the Hayes (blue) tees. This process will replace the prior Junior Certified Program. When the junior has passed the 150 yard challenge of the “Up to Par” program, they earn the ability to make tee times and play golf on their own.

Golf Course Maintenance

Dear Members,

Spring has officially arrived, and it's great to see the golf course turning green after the winter. The golf course team has been working hard on various projects, including rock work, refreshing the paint on bridges, edging bunkers, and applying our spring pre-emergents and fertilizers. We've also planted trees in select areas to create beautiful focal points and color as they mature, all while ensuring they don't interfere with course playability. In addition, we're cleaning up any remaining winter weeds and applying herbicides to prevent future growth.

Overall, the course is in excellent condition as we head into the summer season, and we're excited to set the stage for a fantastic summer of golf. I'm particularly pleased with how healthy the greens look coming out of dormancy. We're actively lowering the height of the cut and managing new growth, so please be aware that the greens may occasionally be a bit slower than usual as they wake up. We appreciate your patience as we work daily to ensure the putting surfaces are both healthy and playable.

BCC is ready for a great year of golf. As you enjoy the course, please help us take care of it by raking bunkers, filling divots, and fixing ball marks. Your efforts will significantly enhance the experience for fellow members. We look forward to seeing you on the links!

Sincerely,
