2024 was a year for the history books at BCC. It was wonderful to see the newly renovated golf course return to full operations after many months of time away. The investments made to the golf course proved to be worthwhile as we saw a rapid improvement in drainage, enhancements to playability, and an overall beautification of the course's landscape. As for the Golf Shop, it was a pleasure to return to hosting tournaments, outings, and regular play days. I want to thank the 2024 Golf Committee for their assistance in planning and administering our full list of golf events. With their help, we were able to hold true to some of BCC's timeless traditions while also creating some new and exciting twists. One of my favorite line items on the schedule was the return of junior golf. Thanks to the efforts made by Andrew, Michael, Skyler, Matt, and Jared, we produced one of the best junior golf programs in Middle TN. Our two PGA Jr. League teams performed exceptionally well and presented a strong vision for the future of golf at BCC. Junior golf camps and development programs were all sellouts, and we couldn't be more excited to see these activities return in 2025.
As we reflect on the great year that was, we want to thank you, the members, for choosing BCC to be the place you call home. Even though we have January and February to get through, it will be nice to still have the course open for Winter play with the exception of the normal shutdown period in early January. Since the grass has gone dormant, we ask that you pay extra special attention to filling your divots and repairing your ball marks. The 2025 golf calendar has recently been released, so we hope you can plan your golf participation accordingly. 2025 is set up to be an even better year for golf at BCC as the course continues to mature, the golf team rounds into shape, and the support from membership continues to push our operations forward. From all of us in the Golf department, we wish you and your family a safe, happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!

2025 Player Development Roadmap
The PGA, ADM, and BCC
In 2020, the PGA collaborated with several other governing bodies of golf, as well as the United States Olympic Committee, to develop the American Development Model (ADM). ADM aims to maximize each athlete's potential by developing principles that create life-long golfers and athletes for generations. In golf, coaches create positive experiences early, for all athletes, keeping more players engaged and retained in the sport. The program introduces the right aspects of play during Junior Golf in a structure that is fun, engaging and progressively challenging, leading golfers through the stages of ADM before entering into higher levels of coaching and structured golf lessons Throughout 2024, through the introduction of the “Up to Par” junior and ladies golf programs, we started to implement programming for a wider age range, furthering our teaching and coaching in the junior golf program, but also introducing more ladies to the game than ever before In 2025, we will continue to develop and add more programs with the long-term goal of introducing more people to golf, developing well-rounded athletes and individuals, and creating more “golfers for life” We are very excited about this initiative and look forward to helping members of all ages, skill-level, and gender grow a life-long passion for golf!

Winter Practice Tip:
Everyone's golf grip should be unique to their body. Our hands and arms are not all the same.
The easy test. Grab a hammer with your dominate hand. Note the position that your hand is facing relative to the head of the hammer. If you can hit a nail on its head with a hammer, hitting a large golf ball with a bigger club should be easier! Now grab your golf club with the same hand orientation. You will automatically grab the golf club in the most efficient position to generate power and control.
Taking your golf grip is a learned skill perfected by repeated practice. Simply take your grip while watching the NFL playoffs and you will have a new grip by February!

Dear BCC Members,
Winter is upon us, and I hope your holidays were enjoyable as we move into 2025. January has certainly started off with some true winter weather, as we have seen multiple days of covered greens already. We continue to monitor turf temperatures and health throughout these weather fluctuations and, as of early January, have a very healthy golf course. Some of our scheduled projects will continue once the weather cooperates. We have started strategically planting many smaller trees on the course to help mitigate what was removed during the renovation. These trees were chosen for their beauty, strength, and long-term viability and should continue to add value to our golf course for many decades. We have also secured some bigger rocks and will be reinforcing some of our waterways, starting with the creek on #1 by the new walking bridge (weather permitting). We will also address some of the Tahoma bermudagrass encroachment in the lower edge of the bunkers and some of the green edges. This was predicted to be something we would need to address and we will be identifying and plugging out the worst areas first, now that we have a fully functioning nursery. The grounds crew will also continue to freshen up all the golf course boundary and hazard stakes and put a fresh coat of paint on the bridges (weather permitting). We will also be repainting fairways and tees this year and we hope to address this sometime in January, with some touch-ups going into Spring green up. The Turf Team is looking forward to a fantastic year of golf, and we look forward to seeing you all enjoying your course in 2025!

What a great holiday season we just had. From Thanksgiving to Christmas, there were many smiling faces around the club. We all hope that your holidays were memorable and full of Love and Joy. Thank you for celebrating with us at your club.
When we reopen in mid-January after our yearly maintenance projects, we will offer new a la carte menus for dinner, lunch, breakfast, dessert, and brunch. These new menus will feature some hearty winter dishes, previous successes, new recipes, and trends heading into 2025..WOW, it's 2025 already! Moving into the deep winter months, we have a lot of things cooking here at the club, to keep you and your families warm.
During the first couple of months in 2025, we will have some fun events planned and a few pop-ups. We are having a "Grand Seafood Buffet" on Wednesday, January 15th to welcome back our members with full menu service to follow the next day. Then, to follow, a couple of nights of our traditional Cash Draws, which will have "Country Style / Home Cooking" buffets that are value-centric and fully flavored. Also, keep us in mind when you celebrate Valentine's Day with your special someone, as we have a lovely evening planned for all you romantics. Please keep an eye out for your weekly email with details for the following events.
I want to thank all our members for a great 2024 and an even better 2025 to come. Great members make a great club, and we are all grateful to have both of them.
Happy New Year...
