Golf News

Spring is in the air and golfers are back on the course at BCC! The long wait is over and we appreciate your patience and support shown throughout the entire renovation project. A big thank you goes out to Brad Erickson and the maintenance team for getting and keeping the course in such great shape. We have been blessed to be able to enjoy some really nice weather in March. Golfers are shaking off the winter rust, working on tweaks to their swing, and maybe investing in some new technology. We have had several successful Fitting Days with our various club vendors with more coming down the pipeline. If you are looking to upgrade the bag this Spring, please reach out to the Golf Shop and stay tuned to weekly emails with signup opportunities.

With the arrival of Spring also comes the arrival of new merchandise in the Golf Shop. We are fully stocked with the latest Men's and Women's gear and apparel from all of your favorite brands including Peter Millar, Stitch, KJUS, Greyson, Fairway & Greene, Pukka and Imperial headwear, GFore and Footjoy shoes, and more. Not to mention we still have some really great items on the $40 sale rack. Stop by the Golf Shop soon to take advantage of the great discounts available through the Buyers Club program. If you aren't familiar with the Buyers Club or would like to be reinstated into the program, please reach out to us in the Golf Shop.

Tournament season is quickly approaching and we will continue to be using Golf Genius for signups, scoring, and communication. The GGID this year is BCC24. By using this login you will have access to the full calendar along with information on when each event opens and closes for registration. We look forward to our first event on April 10th, the Masters Par 3 contest.

Golf Genius’ Coach 360

Onboarding Information

Brentwood Country Club has engaged with Golf Genius to bring a more fully integrated coaching platform to our membership – Coach 360! This platform will allow students to book lessons, interact with coaches, and review lessons.

The first time you launch Golf Genius Coach 360, you will be prompted to create a Golf Genius Identity. We recommend using the same log-in information as Golf Genius used for BCC golf events, but you must go through the registration process. For a video guide to creating your profile, click here. This identity will then be used to access both the Golf Genius Coach 360 website and mobile app. With your Golf Genius Identity, you will be able to book a lesson online or on the Golf Genius Coach 360 mobile app (link below). The mobile app will also allow you to interact with your coach and review past lessons. Click here to learn how to share posted scores with your coach.

The BCC team is excited to offer this new technology and look forward to seeing you on the lesson tee soon!

BCC Golf Team Stack Challenge

Mid-Program Update, Stack observations, and Final Assessment Information

The BCC Golf Team is almost done with the Foundation speed training program of The Stack System. At the halfway point, three week into the program, our team was seeing some mixed results in term of potential gains (or losses?). The table below shows everyone’s baseline driver speed, and the eSpeed at the halfway mark! The eSpeed stands for Equivalent Driver Speed. This is measured when you swing the Stack club with 195 grams.

Here are three observations about the Stack System from my personal, and coaching, perspective:

1.) Swinging a driver for speed is much different than swinging the hybrid length Stack club with 195 grams! It takes time to get used to the weight and how to create the speed in your swing. I have been “Stacking” off and on for a year and half, so my brain understands the sequence better than someone who is just starting.

2.) Slower speed golfers can see huge gains! The table above doesn’t show it, but I believe Mike and Johnny have a slight advantage in terms of speed gained going into the final days of the program. I am a huge proponent of the Stack System and speed training in general for everyone, but especially for those golfers that get to their drives faster than others, if you know what I mean! You don’t have to work out every day and lift weights to get faster for golf, you just have to Stack!

3.) Plateaus still happen, and they stink! But here is the good news, The Stack System’s A.I. based app will adapt and get you back on track! I have personally been on the same eSpeed for 4 workouts now. This can be defeating, but I can sense a jump in speed coming. All of my non-eSpeed sets keep getting faster and faster, and the program is adapting the workout each time to help me find my own keys or new triggers for more speed. This is a super-cool part of the program for a nerd like me!

Click the Stack logo for more information on Stack!

On Tuesday, April 9, we will complete a “Final Assessment” to measure each contestants speed gained. This date has changed from the originally scheduled April 2. We will award two prizes, the Speed Gained Award and the True Grit Award, for this competition. The speed gained will be as a percentage compared to their original driver speed. The grit award is based on the Grit Score on the Stack app, which assesses adherence to the program.

See you on the range,

Golf Course Maintenance

Dear BCC Members,

Spring is such a beautiful time of year and it feels great to see members back on the course. The golf course made it through it’s first winter and is greening up even better than I expected. Our focus is continual improvements as we wait for warmer weather. In the next month we will be working with Bill Bergin and Southeastern Golf to address punchlist items around the course. This will include areas around the collars of the greens that have settled, drainage areas and other minor details. Our plan is to address these items on Mondays with the intention to cause minimal disruption to play. We thank you for your patience as we continue to grow in our new course. Our goal will always be to create the finest golf experience possible and we are very excited for the future of golf here at BCC.
