BVM wishes you and your family a glorious Resurection Sunday
by Bob Vineyard, ThD
“Luke 22:421-44 And He was withdrawn a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless no My will, but Yours, be done." Then an angel appeared to Him from Heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
We are in Gethsemane again for a prayer meeting of all time. The reminder of Jesus to the disciples was to pray that they enter no into temptation. It isn't sin to be tempted. It becomes sin when temptation is entered, you engage and participate. Jesus tells us to pray. Wisdom. discernment, and self control are needed.
What was the great concern of Jesus as He removed Himself from the others a stone's throw? It was the CUP.
Some have said it was the scourging, the crown of thorns, the embarrassment of being naked before all, or being nailed to the cross. Was any of these elements of a Roman crucifixion? If any of these were, they were secondary. It was the cup that He was focused on.
In Jeremiah 25:15-38 we read where God tells Jeremiah to take a cup of wine of wrath and make all nations drink it.
In Isaiah 51:17 Jerusalem is described as having drunk from God's cup of wrath. We read in Psalm 75:8 where the Lord is depicted as having a cup of foaming wine in His hand, which He will pour out on the wicked. And lasting we find in Revelation 14:10 those who worship the beast will also drink the wine of God's wrath poured in the cup. Without any doubt, the cup in the hand of God had brought the greatest concern to mind of the Savior. The cup that the Father had was filled with His immeasurable anger and righteous fury. The precious Lamb of God was as we read in 2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
the payment for the sins of the whole world was placed on Jesus and He suffered the unbounded, furious, holy anger of God. This was culminated in the cry of Christ from the cross when He said quoting Psalm 22:1 and recorded in Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Here the cup of wrath poured out on the Supreme Sacrifice as the Sinless One was made to be sin for our redemption. Our debt is paid in full by Jesus!
Rejoice all repentant believing sinners that have been made a precious redeemed saint by the new birth. It is finished. He has ascended and He will come again. Tell someone today about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because He has resurrected from the dead and lives evermore!

Dr. Bob Vineyard heeded the call to missions in 1973, having felt the call to preach at the early age of four. With over five decades of different ministry roles, he now dedicates himself entirely to missions.
He firmly believes that the most effective approach to global ministry involves empowering indigenous pastors to impact their communities, fostering a shift towards a Kingdom culture within their own contexts. Through BVM, individuals are provided with basic sustenance like simple meals such as rice and beans and meat if available, which for some serves all too often as their sole meal of the day. This act of compassion opens the door for Dr. Bob to share the Gospel, allowing listeners to embrace faith, undergo baptism, and commence a journey of spiritual growth under the guidance of local pastors.
Dr. Bob expresses deep gratitude for the prayerful support and financial contributions that sustain this vital ministry.

We can never tell you enough how thankful we are for your generosity. It is our prayer, that as God sees your generous spirit, that He knows He can trust you with what He has given to you, and that He will fulfill His promise, that your lives will be overflowing with the Spirit of God and have all of your desires met, and then be an even greater blessing to the Kingdom.
