THEREFORE, "But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!" (2 Timothy 4:17–18, NKJV)

As Paul draws near the end of his life, he reveals in 2 Timothy 4:9-18 with a mixture of vulnerability and unshakable faith. He recounts the loneliness of being abandoned by some of his companions (vv. 1012), the sting of traitorous opposition (v. 14), and the courage it took to stand alone in his first defense (v. 16). Yet woven into this deeply human confession is a profound testimony: “But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me” (v. 17).

This passage reminds us that ministry, discipleship, and the journey of faith often involve seasons of isolation and hardship. Friends may leave. Critics may rise. Support may dwindle. But God’s presence does not fail. Even when others walk away, the Lord draws near.

Paul’s confidence was not rooted in earthly vindication but in the eternal faithfulness of God. He believed that Christ had preserved him not merely for survival, but so that the gospel would continue to go forward. Everything Paul endured was ultimately for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.

And that is the crucial truth for us: our trials are not meaningless. They can become pulpits from which the message of Christ is proclaimed more fully.

1.When you feel abandoned, cling to the presence of God. Human support is a blessing, but God alone is your unwavering refuge.

2.See each hardship as an opportunity for testimony. Paul’s trials gave him more opportunities to proclaim Jesus Christ. The unforeseen and unexpected bumps in our road can do the same.

3.Fix your hope on God and His eternal kingdom. Temporary pain is not the end of the story. Like Paul, we can trust that the Lord will preserve us for His heavenly kingdom.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being the One who never abandons us. In those moments when we feel alone, remind us of Your ever abiding presence. Strengthen us in our trials so that the message of Christ may shine through us. Deliver us from the Evil One, preserve and keep us for Your eternal kingdom, and let us keep our eyes fixed on the glory that awaits in You Almighty King. In Jesus’ name, Amen..

I am loving my job as a Kindergarten Instructional Aide at Redbud Run Elementary. I am learning so much being in the classroom with Ms. T, who has 15 years of experience. I slowed down a bit taking my classes but please pray my state tests go well and I pass them soon and I’ll be ready when I am given the opportunity to teach.

It’s been a joy meeting new people and making new friends and relationships. Life is good. God is good. All the time. Grandson Noah was able to finally take off his neck brace from his diving accident and we are thankful for his healing. Thank you to everyone who prayed for him and reached out.
