The re-opening of pubs and indoor dining has seen one of the last hurdles for businesses to get over.

With these businesses been closed the longest they now need our support for so many reasons.

Staff are employed locally Local produce is used from local suppliers Money spent in the local bars and restaurants is put back in to the local economy In support of local businesses the Chamber has launched a local app for local businesses. A- Blarney Credit Union is no different to any other business and we have had to adapt quickly to the challenges that we have faced since Covid19. Our staff and IT systems faced many new challenges, but thanks the to the dedication of our staff and the loyalty of our members, we have risen to the challenge and have managed to maintain service to our members throughout the restrictions.

Q-Any new ideas in the pipeline?

The Credit Union offices have undertaken major renovations which are due to be completed in June.

We also plan to enhance our online digital services over the next while. In 2020 we rolled out digital banking and we hope to develop this further in the coming months.

Should it be considered from a public health perspective that this policy should be reviewed, this will be done.

I hope that you have had the chance to enjoy the fine weather and as I write this 16-year-olds have been called for vaccination and almost 70% of the population is vaccinated making our vaccination programme one of the best in the world. As vaccinations rise there has been some positive news for travel and indoor dining. I will lay out some of what has been announced here.

Indoor Hospitality reopening Thankfully indoor dining is on the way back and indoor dining regulations were signed by Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD, on 25th July 2021 and came into force on 26th July 2021.The only significant change made at the final stage of drafting was in relation to the record kept for contact tracing purposes.

It had been proposed that contact tracing details would be required for all permitted persons entering licensed indoor premises for the consumption of food and beverages but following engagement with the Data Protection Commission it was determined that such an expansion would require further review of its potential data

Businesses which re-open will be able to avail of the three-week double payment of the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme. Speaking on Friday evening, the Tánaiste said: “From Monday we are going to open indoor hospitality, get lots of businesses open and lots of people back to work. As a first step in this reopening, businesses will allow entry to people who are vaccinated or recovered from COVID in the past six months, as well as children under 18 in their care. The restrictions being applied to this re-opening are designed to be a temporary measure, and hugely important for the sector and their customers. I know that operating this new system will be inconvenient for business and could add to staff costs. It is, however, the only way we can re-open and stay open throughout this Delta wave. Hopefully, it will not be necessary in a few months’ time but it is good to have it in place in case it is. There will be teething problems and we will work with the industry to review and amend the regulations as needed and based on practical experience.”

The Irish public have shown great solidarity and dedication throughout the pandemic. As we take another step-in reopening society, I encourage everyone to play their part in ensuring that the new requirements work for public health, for businesses and customers alike.”

Further information Indoor hospitality is open for people who are fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid in the past six months, as well as children under 18 in their care.

This is the first phase for the reopening of the hospitality sector.

The EU Digital Covid Certificate or HSE COVID19 Vaccination Record (as issued at vaccination centres) will be the primary evidence used when going into a pub, restaurant, café or food court to access indoor hospitality. People across the country are currently receiving their EU Digital Covid Certificates via email and by post. More detail on the EU Digital COVID Certificate is available at gov.ie/DCC. You may also be asked for photo ID to verify the EU Digital COVID Certificate.

Customers will still be required to provide contact tracing details except for those under 18. This will apply to the lead customer. Contact name and telephone number will be securely retained for 28 days and will be compliant with GDPR. People should also remember that outdoor spaces are preferable to indoor spaces Following public health advice, the time limit for sitting at tables has been removed. There is now no limit to the amount of time consumers can sit at tables. Businesses may decide to operate this approach.

There is no requirement for pre-booking, however businesses may decide to operate using this approach.

A maximum of 6 persons aged 13 or over are permitted at a table. This limit of 6 does not include accompanying children aged 12 or younger. The total combined capacity at a table cannot exceed 15 overall (max. 6 persons aged 13 and over). Mingling between tables is not allowed.

You should always wear a face mask other than when sitting at your table. All staff will continue to wear appropriate PPE always including face masks.

Counter service remains prohibited. The regulations will provide for people to be served at tables only. This is to protect unvaccinated workers.

There is no change to closing time – currently COVID regulations require all premises to close at 11.30 pm.

Indoor areas should be well-ventilated Customers will still be required to provide contact tracing details except for those under 18. Contact name and telephone number will be securely retained for 28 days and will be compliant with GDPR. Both Ministers noted that work was ongoing on the finalisation of the necessary Regulations under the Health Act to provide the statutory basis for this reopening and that it’s expected to have the Regulations signed into law imminently. The operation of the control regime to allow safe indoor hospitality to resume will be kept under close review and, hopefully, as time progresses a relaxation of the control measures will become feasible.

Travel / EU Digital Covid Cert (DCC) International Travel General New rules and advice on international travel have come into effect in Ireland.

The Digital COVID Certificate is now operating in Ireland. It is proof (in digital or paper format) that you have either: been vaccinated against COVID-19 or received a negative COVID-19 test result or o recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months Almost two million Irish people have received the Certificate, either by email or post.

If you are planning to travel, you must also check 2 things (1) The rules applying at your destination. If travelling out of Ireland to another European country, you may also need to fill in a separate Passenger Locator Form for the country to which you are travelling. Other requirements may also apply.

(2) The rules which will apply here in Ireland on your return. Anyone coming into Ireland, including those returning from overseas must fill in the Irish Passenger Locator Form and have appropriate valid proof of vaccination or recovery, or to present evidence of a negative RT-PCR result from a test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival into the country.

Paper vs Digital: The COVID Tracker App has been updated to safely and securely store your Digital COVID Certificate.

This will allow you to use a digital version of the certificate stored in the app when travelling, for indoor dining and hospitality, and when required elsewhere. The paper version of the Certificate remains valid. You do not need to have the tracker function of the app switched on to avail of this.

Full details of travel requirements for each country are available on reopen.europa.eu or at gov.ie and if you are not vaccinated, the public health advice is that you avoid high-risk activities – this includes international travel. See gov.ie/travel for comprehensive information.

Meet Meet the the Members Members BRAND BLARNEY With all of Brand Blarney's focus on the Clogheenmilcon Fen recently and especially on signage and the results of the ecological and tourism survey it was decided to brand the Fen. We hereby present the logo our talented artist, Rhoda Allanic-Cronin, created for us. Rhoda hails from the area and has worked with us on drawings for the original heritage map we created for Blarney and on signage for the Fen which is currently going to print.
