I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the good weather that we had. Hopefully soon we will see a roadmap for businesses to reopen and with that we need to show our support for those that have remained shut for nearly a year now. If we don’t support local we won’t have these businesses to go to and we will have to look outside our own local area for services and local jobs will also be lost. As the roadmap begins with dates we will be supporting those businesses reopening and will announce across all our social media platforms who is reopening and when they are reopening so that we can all support them together.

Spring has sprung and with the extra hour daylight there is that feeling of hope. The remaining students will return to school on April 12th and I am sure that parents and guardians are anxious for this to happen. In fact the students themselves are looking forwards to seeing friends and having that social interaction that is vital to their development. We all hope that come the Summer we can all be in a position to socialise in some way and reconnect with people. Vaccination Program. The vaccination program is the secret to all of this happening. The Government has decided that the program will now be based on age and I attach below the graphic showing the various age brackets and their place in the program.
There has been much talk about various groups who feel, and who are quite justified to say, that they should be higher on the list in accordance with their profession. The Government have decided that for simplicity and expediency that the age bracket approach is the most workable. The science supports this as regardless of the profession and exposure of the person being vaccinated, age is the most crucial aspect. This virus can cause grievous harm and that harm seems to affect those that are older. I know I am looking forward to getting the vaccine and for those around me to be vaccinated. I love my home, but I have become too familiar with these surroundings.

Re-opening of society. The plan for opening of society was announced on 30th of March by the Taoiseach. Below you will see the graphic and for those who play golf, the most important date for them is the 26th of April. I see it as a good walk ruined but understand and accept how important sport and social interaction are. €17million Scheme for developing outdoor dining capacity. Minister Patrick O’Donovan has announced a scheme for hospitality to help them provide and develop outdoor dining. Local Enterprise Office LEO (021-4961828) Restart Grants: www.corkcity.ie
The Outdoor Dining Enhancement Scheme comprises two parts and will be delivered in partnership between Fáilte Ireland and Local Authorities across the country. Part One of the Scheme will provide funding for individual tourism and hospitality businesses to develop and increase their own outdoor seating capacity. Funding allocated under Part Two will enable Local Authorities to develop permanent outdoor public dining spaces in towns and urban centres, like those that exist in various European cities. Meet Meet the the Members Members CORK COUNTY BASKETBALL BOARD Cork County Basketball Board is a voluntary run organisation which oversees and runs basketball competitions in the form of leagues, championships and tournaments for all affiliated basketball clubs in the county. Cork County Basketball Board is affiliated to Basketball Ireland. The current board members are: President: John Coughlan, Chairman: Billy Coffey, Juvenile Affairs Officer: Stuart Joyce and Treasurer: Alan Coffey.

Cork County Basketball Board runs leagues, championships and tournaments for Senior Men Division 1 and 2, Under 20, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 and Under 9 boys. These competitions are run for our affiliated clubs in Cork, but our competitions also attract clubs from Limerick and Waterford who enter teams in our leagues and championships. One of the tournaments we host is the Billy Kelly, Under 17 Tournament. This tournament is probably most prestigious tournament of its kind in the country. It attracts teams from all over Ireland and has had applicants from teams in the UK this year. Last years tournament saw 22 teams compete for the

Meet Meet the the Members Members YOUNGSTARS MUSIC SCHOOL Youngstars Music School remains offering online lessons for singing, piano, guitar and ukulele as well as Leaving Cert music course grinds for both practical and written exams. We love seeing our students week to week on zoom and have been getting such positive feedback from parents who have said our lessons provide a much needed focus and fun element for their kids each week.

At first I was sceptical that it would not work out, especially for my 7year old learning piano for the first time, but once we put a bit of effort into getting the video to face the keyboard and my daughter, it has all worked out perfectly. We have both piano and vocal coaching lessons online, and the kids look forward to seeing their lovely teachers each week. It's lovely to hear the giggles during the lessons from another room at home!
