Bienvenidos reseña el Festival Internacional Varadero Gourmet que del 18 al 21 sesionará en el Centro de Convenciones Plaza América; los visitantes pueden asistir a su feria expositiva, a las presentaciones de productos y sesiones de debates.

Bienvenidos gives you a full description of the upcoming International Varadero Gourmet Festival that will be held from September 18-21 at the Plaza America Convention Center; visitors can attend the exhibition fair, which also includes the launching of amazing products and many debate sessions.

Entre el 23 y el 29, tendrá lugar TURNAT 2019, evento de turismo de naturaleza que programa visitas histórico-culturales, senderismo, buceo, pesca, kayak y otros deportes náuticos, en recorridos por parques nacionales, paisajes naturales protegidos y villas hermosas de Matanzas, Cienfuegos, y Sancti Spíritus.

Otro consejo de viaje es Cayo Blanco, islote situado a la salida de Varadero; se arriba por la mañana en catamaranes o yates para explorar playas vírgenes, fauna y flora cubanas, y la barrera coralina con su variedad de peces y crustáceos; como opción: un baño con delfines.

La Casa de Asia del Centro Histórico de La Habana, vivienda del siglo XVII, promueve la huella en Cuba de inmigrantes asiáticos; si es la historia su interés, también le gustará llegar al Callejón del Chorro, vetusto paraje relacionado con la entrada de agua a la ciudad, devenido sitio bohemio habanero.

Bienvenidos comenta sobre la Feria Internacional de Artesanía “IBEROARTE 2019”, que en Holguín organiza el Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales en octubre, y le propone un disco de la EGREM: Kiki canta a Garay, homenaje al gran trovador Sindo Garay.

TURNAT 2019 will take place from September 23-29; this is a nature tourism event that offers historical-cultural visits as well as hiking, diving, fishing, kayaking and other water sports. The organizers have also planned a fantastic schedule featuring national park tours, protected natural landscapes and beautiful villages of Matanzas, Cienfuegos, and Sancti Spíritus.

Another travel tip is Blanco Key, an islet located at the end of Varadero; you get there early in the morning, in catamarans or yachts, to explore virgin beaches, Cuban fauna and flora, and the coral reef with its great variety of fish and crustaceans. And if you feel like having an adventure, you can also have a bath with the friendly dolphins.

The House of Asia of the Historic Center of Havana, a 17th-century house, promotes the legacy of Asian immigrants in Cuba, and if history is one of your passions, you have to visit the Callejon del Chorro, an ancient place related to the wonders of water and engineering that has now become a bohemian venue.

Bienvenidos brings you some interesting details regarding the International Craft Fair “IBEROARTE 2019”, that will take place this October in Holguin. This remarkable event is brought to you by the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets. On the other hand, the EGREM launches a new album: “Kiki sings to Garay”, a tribute to the great Cuban troubadour Sindo Garay.

Geografía: Ubicada a la entrada del golfo de México, el archipiélago cubano está formado por la isla de Cuba, la Isla de la Juventud y aproximadamente 4,195 cayos e islotes. Cerca de 140 km la separan las Bahamas; 77 km Haití; 180 km de Florida; 210 km Cancún y 146 km de Jamaica.

La silueta de Cuba, alargada y estrecha, alcanza los 120 km de longitud y entre 32 y 145 km de ancho. En total el territorio abarca 110.922 km, lo que la distingue como la mayor de las Antillas y por su ubicación geográfica la llaman también la llave del Golfo.

Geography: Located in the Caribbean Sea, the Cuban archipelago includes the Island of Cuba, the Island of Youth – Isla de la Juventud – and approximately some 4,195 keys and islets. Cuba y en especial el más famoso de sus balnearios, Varadero, es un destino ideal para la realización de eventos; todo aquí es propicio para el intercambio porque el ambiente natural y humano invita a compartir.

Y si de compartir se trata, una buena ocasión será la celebración del Festival Internacional Varadero Gourmet que entre los días 18 y 21 de este mes de septiembre en el Centro de Convenciones Plaza América de la reputada playa azul de Cuba, tendrá como eje temático central los servicios, y estará dedicado al 500 aniversario de la fundación de San Cristóbal de La Habana.

En esta, su oncena edición, el festival tiene como propósitos fundamentales reafirmar el papel cardinal de un servicio gastronómico de excelencia como elemento imprescindible para conquistar la satisfacción del cliente, y posicionar a la Isla como una promesa de calidad en restauración, bares y cantinas, teniendo como defensas esenciales la tradición culinaria cubana, las marcas nacionales de probada reputación internacional, y la incorporación coherente de las tendencias contemporáneas.

Cuba, and especially the most famous of our resorts, Varadero, is an ideal destination for events; we have the perfect conditions to promote a balanced dialogue because of the natural and human environment of the island, which invites us to share experiences and knowledge.

And if we’re talking about sharing, a good time to do so will be the celebration of the International Varadero Gourmet Festival, which takes place from September 18 to 21 at the Plaza America Convention Center, located near the most popular beach of Cuba. This edition will be devoted to the topic of “Services”, and it will be dedicated to the 500th Anniversary of the foundation of San Cristobal de La Habana.

During its eleventh edition, the festival has the major goal to reaffirm the role of high-quality gastronomic services. This is an essential element to guarantee the customer’s satisfaction. We aim to establish the Island as one of the favorite tourist centers of the region. In order to achieve this, it would be clever to promote our best restaurants, bars and canteens. We want to expand the Cuban culinary tradition and to advertise the national brands and their international reputation, by using contemporary resources and trends.

Este evento ha demostrado en cada cita un extraordinario poder de convocatoria y ha devenido espacio de obligada concurrencia por parte de los profesionales de esta importante rama de la economía, del sector estatal y del privado,cubanos o foráneos, interesados en temáticas asociadas a la gastronomía, las bebidas y la enología, así como en desarrollar sus habilidades prácticas, actualizar conocimientos, e intercambiar experiencias con académicos, especialistas, empresarios, y otros colegas, a la par, con clientes de los diferentes destinos turísticos de la Isla, como La Habana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba y el propio Varadero.

Las temáticas que centrarán las exposiciones y debates versarán sobre las preferencias y prácticas actuales en los servicios gastronómicos; las nuevas proyecciones en la variable de alimentos y bebidas; los maridajes entre espirituosos, habanos, chocolate y café; la coctelería evolutiva y de fantasía, y acerca de los rones cubanos y la fusión de sus agradables sabores.

El programa teórico-práctico contempla, un área expositiva, conferencias magistrales, presentaciones de ponencias, lanzamientos de productos, catas comentadas, talleres, paneles de expertos, y variados concursos entre los que se anuncian los referidos a entrantes fríos,

tapas y entrepanes; coctelería, y un certamen que otorgará la Distinción del Servicio Gastronómico.

Se ha reconocido en las ediciones anteriores que este festival contribuye, en gran medida, al mejoramiento creciente de los servicios gastronómicos como principio primordial para el dominio de la competitividad y fortalecimiento de los destinos turísticos; además ha conseguido jerarquizar la cocina cubana, declarada por la Asociación Mundial de Sociedades de Chefs (WorldChefs) Patrimonio Inmaterial a nivel mundial por su accionar en aras de salvaguardar la identidad y promover el respeto a la diversidad cultural y la creatividad humana.

Festival Internacional Varadero Gourmet: Compartir saberes para conquistar al cliente

The festival has an extraordinary power to encourage dialogue and debate among professionals that come from different backgrounds, and it has become an opportunity to bring together the state and private sector, as well as Cuban or foreigner participants, who have an interest in topics associated with gastronomy, drinks and oenology. It offers us all a chance to develop practical skills, to update our knowledge and to exchange experiences with academics, specialists, entrepreneurs and other colleagues. At the same time, it gathers a massive amount of clients from the different tourist destinations of the Island, such as Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba and, of course, Varadero.

The exhibitions and debates will focus on contemporary preferences and procedures in gastronomic services; new strategies regarding food and beverages; creative combinations of espirituanos, cigars, chocolate and coffee; the evolutionary and fantasy cocktails, as well as Cuban rums and the fusion of their many pleasant flavors.

The theoretical-practical program includes an exhibition area, keynote lectures, presentations, the launch of new products, commented tastings, workshops, panels of experts, and varied competitions (design of cold starters, appetizers and entrepanes); cocktail bars, and a contest that will grant the Gastronomic Service Distinction.

This festival contributes, substantially, to the improvement of gastronomic services as a mandatory condition for the competitiveness and the development of tourist destinations; it serves as a platform to promote the Cuban cuisine, which has been declared by the World Association of Chefs Societies (World Chefs) “Intangible Heritage�, for its efforts in order to safeguard identity and promote respect for cultural diversity and human creativity.

Igualmente en el encuentro se valida el arte de la coctelería nacional, su variedad, ingenio y carácter siempre innovador, el cual se ha enriquecido con la incorporación de elementos de modernidad propios de las propensiones internacionales.

Es justo recordar que diez de los cocteles más solicitados del mundo son cubanos, y asi mismo, que La Habana ostenta el título de Capital Iberoamericana de la Coctelería 2018 conferido por la Academia Iberoamericana de Gastronomía.

El Festival Varadero Gourmet, es organizado por el Ministerio de Turismo de la República de Cuba, la Empresa Extrahotelera Palmares, el Grupo Empresarial Cubasol, la Agencia de Viajes Havanatur y la Comercializadora ITH. Puede ser el mejor de los escenarios para que compartan los clientes y los profesionales pues ambos necesitan saber más: unos para exigir y disfrutar a la vez de un buen servicio, y los otros para poder conquistarlos.

It validates the national art of cocktail making, its variety, inventiveness and constant innovation, which has been updated with the incorporation of modern international elements.

We must take into account that ten of the most requested cocktails in the world are Cuban, and also that Havana holds the title of IberoAmerican Capital of the Cocktail Making 2018 conferred by the Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy.

The Varadero Gourmet Festival is organized and sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Cuba, the Palmares Extra-hotelier Company, the Cubasol Business Group, the Havanatur Travel Agency and the ITH Marketing Company.

It may be the best scenario for customers and professionals to share their experience and knowledge, because both sides need to master their roles: the first ones must demand a good service, and the latter should learn how to meet their expectations.

TURNAT 2019

Del 23 al 29 de septiembre próximo, la Región Centro-Sur de Cuba será sede de TURNAT 2019. Para disfrutar los maravillosos atractivos naturales, culturales, elevados valores estético-paisajísticos y el alto grado de diversidad biológica; los participantes del evento harán una extensa visita en esta zona del archipiélago cubano.

Por su clima, propio del Trópico, Cuba se mantiene en la preferencia de los visitantes para desarrollar el turismo de naturaleza.

Ecosistemas de humedad y una marcada influencia marítima, además de temperaturas medias anuales de 25°C, favorecen los escenarios medioambientales del país.

Nature, adventure and history...

From September 23 to 29, the Central-South Region of Cuba will host TURNAT 2019. In order to enjoy the wonderful natural and cultural attractions, the aesthetic values of the landscape and the remarkable biological diversity all participants will make an extensive visit to this area of the Cuban archipelago.

Because of the typical weather of the Tropic, visitors who love nature tourism often choose Cuba. Wet ecosystems and a noticeable maritime influence, in addition to annual average temperatures of 25 °C are great features of the country’s environmental scenarios.

Por otra parte, en el sistema fluvial, destacan ríos cortos y de poco caudal. Significativos embalses naturales y artificiales en entornos únicos; sin olvidar, las propiedades curativas de las aguas y fangos mineromedicinales existentes en la Isla.

On the other hand, the fluvial system is made of short rivers with a low flow. We have significant natural and artificial reservoirs in unique environments; and it’s important to remember the healing properties of the mineral mud and medicinal waters existing on the Island.

Especializada en turismo de naturaleza y organizadora de TURNAT, la agencia de viajes ECOTUR prevé una intensa agenda que incluye recorridos histórico-culturales de ciudad, rutas de naturaleza, senderismo, buceo, pesca, kayak y playa, entre otras aventuras. De esa forma, los participantes se dividirán en ocho grupos para que ninguno quede sin apreciar los encantos de La Mayor de las Antillas durante sus recorridos por la Ciénaga de Zapata, Cienfuegos y Sancti Spíritus.

The ECOTUR travel agency, which is specialized in nature tourism and also organizes TURNAT, provides an intense agenda that includes historical-cultural tours around the city, natural excursions, hiking, diving, fishing, kayaking and stays in the beach, among other adventures. In this way, the participants will be divided into eight groups so that none is left without appreciating the treasures of La Mayor de las Antillas during their tours of the Cienaga de Zapata, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus.

Cuba... al natural

Ciénaga de Zapata Enclavado en el mayor y mejor humedal de todo el Caribe insular, el Parque Nacional Ciénaga de Zapata se sitúa al sur de la provincia de Matanzas. Sus características naturales la convierten en área prioritaria, dada la fragilidad ecológica de los ecosistemas y su valor para la conservación de la biodiversidad.

Posee importantes recursos hidrológicos, áreas de reproducción, desove y desarrollo de especies marinas, arrecifes coralinos de elevada singularidad y sitios de alto valor arqueológico y paleontológico.

Es, igualmente, una de las áreas más diversas de endémicos locales, con especies nativas,

raras y amenazadas de extinción. Es el caso del cocodrilo cubano, motivo por el que existe un Criadero científico para su protección y reproducción.

Varias alternativas de uso público podrán disfrutar los participantes del TURNAT en el Parque Nacional. Por su importancia sobresalen: la Cueva de los Peces, el sendero de Refugio de Fauna Las Salinas. Visitarán también el sendero Río Hatiguanico y el recorrido de observación especializada de aves en Santo Tomás, donde habitan las tres especies endémicas locales: la Cotorra, el Caney y el Zunzún.

Sancti Spíritus-Trinidad Su clima saludable, su cercanía al mar Caribe, sus valores estético-paisajísticos y la feracidad de las tierras vecinas, convierten a este mágico territorio en una meta codiciada, tanto para nativos como para visitantes. Acoge en sus predios, panoramas únicos de su tipo en el país como el Parque Nacional Caguanes y la Reserva Ecológica Lomas de Banao.

Sin embargo, el principal atractivo de esta zona es el Paisaje Natural Protegido Topes de Collantes que situado en las montañas de Guamuhaya, comparte territorio con la provincia de Cienfuegos. Sus vistas contrastantes

Cienfuegos de valles y montañas atraen a quienes buscan aventuras en el medio natural.

Con un microclima gratificante, especial interés denota la variedad de especies de orquídeas, eucaliptos, mariposas y helechos arborescentes. En sus ramas sobresale una amplia avifauna, la mayoría endémica de este territorio.

Sus ríos forman profundos cañones y sus desniveles provocan impresionantes saltos como: El Caburní, Vegas Grande y El Rocío. Sitio perfecto para realizar canopy, barranquismo, senderismo entre otras de las actividades incluidas en el programa de la venidera cita TURNAT 2019.

Sitio de alto grado de diversidad biológica y estética. Con valiosos recursos de flora y fauna e importantes cuencas hidrográficas.

Nestled in the largest and best wetland in the entire Caribbean island, the Cienaga de Zapata National Park is located to the south of the province of Matanzas. Its natural characteristics make it a priority area, given the ecological fragility of ecosystems and their value for biodiversity conservation.

Its healthy climate, its proximity to the Caribbean Sea, its aesthetic-natural values and the fertility of the neighboring lands, make this magical territory a coveted goal, both for natives and visitors. There we can discover unique places in the country such as the Caguanes National Park and the Lomas de Banao Ecological Reserve.

A place that offers a high level of biological and aesthetic diversity: valuable flora and fauna resources and important hydrographic basins. Some regions such as the Botanical Garden and the Guanaroca Lagoon have great environments and an infrastructure that shelters multiple species of birds and vegetation.

However, the main attraction of this area is the Topes de Collantes Protected Natural Landscape which is located in the mountains of Guamuhaya, and shares a part of its territory with the province of Cienfuegos. Its contrasting views of valleys and mountains attract those seeking adventure in the natural environment.

There, in the mountain range of Guamuhaya, one of the most beautiful places of this ecosystem is located. Waterfalls, rivers and springs decorate the scenario of the Niche, a valley that occupies most of the Yaguanabo river basin. A paradisiacal shrine distinguished by a pleasant atmosphere and a vast mixture of geographical treasures: caves, sinks, springs and waterfalls.

It has important hydrological resources, areas of reproduction, spawning and development of marine species, coral reefs of beautiful singularity and sites of high archaeological and paleontological value.

It is also one of the most diverse and endemic areas, with native varieties as well as rare and endangered species. This is the case of the Cuban crocodile, which is why there is a scientific breeding ground for its protection and reproduction.

Several alternatives for public use can be enjoyed

by TURNAT participants in the National Park.

Due to their importance, the Cueva de los Peces and the trail of Las Salinas Wildlife Refuge stand out. They will also visit the Hatiguanico River trail and the specialized bird watching tour in Santo Tomas, where the three local endemic species inhabit: Cotorra, Caney and Zunzun.

In addition to a gratifying micro-weather, there we will discover a huge variety of species of orchids, eucalyptus, butterflies and ferns; as well as a large endemic birdlife.

Its rivers form deep canyons and its slopes cause impressive waterfalls such as: El Caburni, Vegas Grande and El Rocio. It is the perfect place for canopy lovers, canyoning, hiking, among other activities included in the program of the upcoming TURNAT 2019.

El buceo a mar abierto y en cuevas de aguas salobres cercanas al sistema espeleo-lacustre de esta Península, constituye uno de los atractivos por excelencia de quienes optan por el buceo, pesca deportiva o práctica de kayak.

Tan grande como el continente mismo es la cultura asiática y en la calle Mercaderes con el número 111 entre Obrapía y Obispo en la Habana Vieja, se encuentra un retazo de esa cultura. Construida a finales del siglo XVII, fue hogar de varias familias de mucho renombre en su época.

El visitante, es recibido por un zaguán de doble arco y techo decorado sobre el cual, se sostiene el entresuelo. La casa está dispuesta en un pasillo central con un jardín longilíneo de principio a fin. A los lados del jardín se ubican las habitaciones.

A pesar de que el origen del inmueble no está conectado con esa porción del mundo, desde 1990 funciona como museo, con el fin de divulgar la huella de los inmigrantes provenientes de diversos países de Asia. Se muestran objetos representativos de su cultura y actualmente se dan clases de idioma japonés.

The House of Asia As great as the continent is the Asian culture, and in Mercaderes number 111, between Obrapia and Obispo, Old Havana, there is a small sanctuary for that culture.

Built at the end of the 17th century, it was the home of several renowned families of that time.

The visitor is greeted by a double arched hallway and a decorated ceiling which supports the mezzanine. The house starts with a central corridor and has a lineal garden from beginning to end. The rooms are located on the sides of this garden.

Although the origin of the property is not connected with that part of the world since 1990 it became a museum, in order to spread the legacy of immigrants from various countries in Asia. Representative objects of their culture are shown and Japanese language classes are currently taught.

Se encuentran en exposición antiquísimas vajillas de porcelana encargadas a prestigiosas fábricas en siglos pasados, utilizadas por las familias más prominentes de la villa. Otro tesoro de la casa son las armas de algún samurái traídas por un familiar cuando emigró de Japón. Finísimos trabajos de orfebrería y bronce, así como objetos laqueados y taraceados en nácar.

Tal vez la pieza más valorada sea un jarrón chino, que perteneció al príncipe Raspoli, un noble italiano que residió en La Habana por algunos años. O la piedra de Hiroshima tallada con un rostro humano, clamando por la paz.

Very old porcelain objects commissioned by prestigious factories in past centuries are on display in the House. These were owned by the most prominent families in the town.

Another treasure of the house is a collection of weapons that were previously used by a samurai, items that were probably brought by a relative when they emigrated from Japan. We can also discover precious-metal craftwork and jewelry there, as well as art pieces decorated with mother-of-pearl.

Perhaps the most valued piece is a Chinese vase, which belonged to Prince Raspoli, an Italian nobleman who resided in Havana for some years. Or the stone of Hiroshima that has a human face carved on it, crying for peace.

If you walk through Old Havana and want to explore an important part of that melting pot that is the Cuban culture, visit the House of Asia, there you will find the traces that an entire continent has left in that ajiaco that is Cuba.

El Callejón del Chorro

The Callejon del Chorro Ubicado en La calle San Ignacio frente al palacio del Marqués de Arcos, se encuentra un populoso sitio conocido como el Callejón del Chorro. Parece horadado en la trama urbana por algún cincel misterioso o tal vez por el agua que hasta allí llegaba, por medio del Chorro; un canal continuo que abastecía de agua a la urbe y tenía su origen en el río Almendares, conocido entonces como la Chorrera. Sin embargo, en sus orígenes no era un callejón, era todo una calle continua, desde San Ignacio hasta Compostela, por donde venía el mencionado ramal de la Zanja Real.

Located on San Ignacio, in front of the Marquis de Arcos’ Palace, there is a crowded spot known as the Callejon del Chorro. It seems to be sculpted in the urban landscape by some mysterious chisel or perhaps by the water that arrived there through the “Chorro”; a continuous channel that supplied water to the city and had its origin in the Almendares river, known in that time as the Chorrera.

However, it wasn’t originally an alley but a continuous street that went from San Ignacio to Compostela. The Zanja Real came all the way through it.

Algunas veces existen lugares en el mundo donde es común que se repita una maravilla, este callejón es uno de ellos. Su relación con la maravilla del agua, no solo se debe al ramal de la Zanja Real, cuentan que también se descubrió allí con posterioridad a 1592 unos manantiales que abastecerían la primera fuente pública intramuros de La Habana.

Sometimes there are places in the world where you can experience a wonder twice and this alley is one of them. Its connection with the wonder of water comes not only from the Zanja Real, people often say that there were also discovered, after 1592, springs that would supply the first intramural public fountain in Havana.

En la actualidad es un sitio bohemio, poblados de cafeterías y paladares donde el olor de la comida cubana de excelencia, el café y los mojitos son parte cotidiana del paisaje urbano. Entre ellos destaca un sitio por su excelente café y su peculiar nombre, el café, “esto no es un café”. Al fondo y siendo el límite del peculiar sitio, se encuentra el taller de experimentación gráfica donde además de producir arte mediante técnicas tradicionales de grabado, expone estas obras en una pequeña galería que recibe al que la visita.

Si la plaza de la Catedral es su destino y quiere respirar un poco del aire bohemio de La Habana, a la par de un buen café o comida cubana, si además le interesa el arte, llegue al Callejón del Chorro y disfrute de la frescura que le heredó el agua, que hasta allí llegaba.

Nowadays it is a bohemian venue that overflows with coffee shops and restaurants, where the smell of excellent Cuban food, coffee and mojitos is a common occurrence of the urban scene.

Among these places, one stands out for its excellent coffee and its peculiar name: “This is not a coffee shop Coffee Shop”. At the bottom, and being the limit of the peculiar site, there is a graphic experimentation workshop where, in addition to producing art through traditional engraving techniques, we can admire works in a small gallery that welcomes the visitor.

El arte de la paciencia de envejecer con sus ciencias y sus místicas es el proceso que contribuye al desarrollo de aromas y sabores verdaderamente distintivos y de la suavidad extra que es el sello de un ron de calidad superior, con un envejecimiento paciente y prolongado, y un aroma a cerezas secas y piel de naranja, hacen del paladar un sabor a nuez al principio y notas frutales al final, conquistador para todos los gustos.

Un ron con una correcta evolución de los sabores del alcohol y el aguardiente de caña proveniente de la destilación, un correcto balance de los compuestos de estos destilados, que se suman a su trasformación oxidativa durante el añejamiento, y sus reacciones con los compuestos de la madera, correcto balance de las notas añeja muy predominantes en el sabor, recuerdo muy marcado de la madera envejecida, madera suave sin astringencia, ni amargor, pero si persistente, llena plenamente el paladar.

El Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales y su filial en Holguín, han convocado a la XVIII Feria Internacional de Artesanía «Iberoarte 2019» que entre el 11 y el 27 de octubre venidero se desarrollará en el Recinto Ferial Expoholguín y la Plaza de la Marqueta, de la oriental provincia holguinera.

The Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets and its subsidiary in Holguin have convened the XVIII International Craft Fair «Iberoarte 2019» that will take place from October 11-27 at the Expoholguin Fairground and Plaza de la Marqueta, located in the eastern province of Holguin.

Esta nueva edición de Iberoarte estará dedicada a, la manifestación textil, Sancti Spíritus como provincia, Trinidad como Ciudad Artesanal, y a Gibara —que será subsede—, por su movimiento creador vinculado al turismo; también recordará el 60 aniversario de la muerte del legendario héroe cubano Camilo Cienfuegos.

This new edition of Iberoarte will be dedicated to textiles, to Sancti Spiritus as a province, to Trinidad as an Artisan City, and to Gibara -which will be the secondary venue of the event- for its creative tourism movement. It will also pay tribute to the 60th anniversary of the death of the legendary Cuban hero Camilo Cienfuegos.

Este evento tiene como propósito la promoción y comercialización de la obra de los artesanos cubanos y las producciones propias, favorecer el intercambio de experiencias y quehaceres entre estos y los creadores foráneos, así como, destacar el papel de las artesanías en los nuevos escenarios de desarrollo económico y social.

The purpose of this event is to promote and sale the work of Cuban artisans and the national productions, and to support the exchange of experiences and knowledge between us and foreign creators, as well as highlighting the role of handicrafts in the new economic and social development scenarios.

El programa de la feria comprende expoventas de artesanías artísticas y utilitarias, y obras de las artes visuales, demostraciones del trabajo artesanal, desfiles de modas, talleres de creación infantil, ronda de negocios, y encuentros.

De igual forma se presentarán productos y proyectos novedosos y un libro arte dedicado al 300 Aniversario de la ciudad de Holguín, publicado por la editora Cuadernos Papiro, y se desarrollarán diversas acciones culturales y recreativas que incorporan otras manifestaciones del arte.

En el contexto de esta feria cultural se premiarán, como es ya habitual, las categorías: Producto, Desfile de Moda y mejor diseño de Stand.

The fair’s agenda includes exhibitions of artistic and utilitarian crafts, and visual art productions, demonstrations of handicraft work, fashion shows, creation workshops for kids, business rounds, and meetings.

In the same way, innovative products and projects will be launched, including an art book dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of the city of Holguin, published by Cuadernos Papiro. Various cultural and recreational activities that involve other art expressions will be developed.

In the context of this cultural fair, as usual, the following categories will be rewarded: Product, Fashion Show and Best Stand Design.

«KIKI SINGS TO GARAY» THE EGREM PAYS TRIBUTE TO CUBAN MUSIC Una vez más, la Empresa de Ediciones y Grabaciones Musicales (Egrem), honra a uno de los esenciales cimientos de la música cubana: Sindo Garay, a través del fonograma «Kiki canta a Garay», del cantautor Kiki Corona.

Once again, the Company of Editions and Musical Recordings (EGREM) pays tribute to one of the very best founders of Cuban music: Sindo Garay, through the phonogram “Kiki sings to Garay”, by the singersongwriter Kiki Corona.

Esta es la segunda entrega de una trilogía homenaje que la EGREM ofrece a sus grandes compositores; incluye diez obras musicales pertenecientes al Catálogo Editorial Auténtico Ediciones: Germania, Elvira, La Baracoesa, Amargas Verdades, La Perla Marina, África, Tormentos Fieros, El Condor, Labios de Grana, y La Vergüenza.

El cantante y compositor Enrique Kiki Corona (La Habana, 1960), es un ferviente defensor de la trova tradicional cubana; sin dudas, su voz, bien timbrada y melodiosa, y su emotividad, contribuyeron a que el fonograma, fuera nominado en la reciente Feria Internacional Cubadisco 2019 en la categoría Cancionística.

Este tributo de la EGREM, aporta a la memoria histórica de la Isla una evocación hacia Sindo Garay, genio natural que dedicó su vida a cantarle a Cuba, sus mujeres, su naturaleza, y al amor, en composiciones, más de 600, consideradas símbolo de identidad nacional; perfectas e innovadoras, y que constituyen una herencia artística de alta valía.

A Antonio Gumersindo Garay y García (Santiago de Cuba, 1867- La Habana, 1968) su madre lo dormía cantándole La Bayamesa, de Céspedes, Castillo y Fornaris; tuvo como único maestro a Pepe Sánchez, y La Bayamesa, quizás su más conocido tema, lo escribió en un simple papel cartucho; durante 89 años estuvo cantando a su pueblo que hoy lo recuerda como vivo, aunque sus restos descansen en la necrópolis de Bayamo.

The singer and composer Enrique “Kiki” Corona (Havana, 1960), is a fervent defender of the traditional Cuban trova; undoubtedly, his beautifully tuned and melodious voice, and his emotions, earned him a nomination in the recent CubaDisco International Fair 2019 in the category of “Ballads”.

This tribute of the EGREM gives the historical memory of the Island an evocation of Sindo Garay, a natural genius who dedicated his life to singing to Cuba, his women, nature, and love. He composed over 60 songs which are considered a symbol of our national identity; these are perfect and innovative, and represent a valuable artistic heritage.

Antonio Gumersindo Garay y Garcia (Santiago de Cuba, 1867- Havana, 1968) had a mother who loved lullabies.

She used to sing him La Bayamesa, a famous romantic song created by Cespedes, Castillo and Fornaris. Pepe Sanchez was Sindo’s only teacher, and La Bayamesa, perhaps his most popular ballad, was written on a frail paper sheet. For 89 years he sung to his people, who keep talking about him like he never left at all. May he rest in peace at the Necropolis of Bayamo.

De las tradiciones cubanas: El cañonazo de las nueve El cañonazo de las nueve, es una ceremonia que data del siglo XVIII; un disparo de cañón realizado inflexiblemente a las 9 de la noche, desde la Fortaleza San Carlos de la Cabaña, avisaba que se cerraban las puertas de la muralla de La Habana y que ha devenido espectáculo en el que uniformados a la usanza de aquella época van cantando la historia del cañonazo, reviven la tradición y ayudan a ajustar los relojes.

The blast we hear ever night at nine o’clock is a ceremony that started in the 18th Century. The shot meant that the doors of the walls were about to get closed. Nowadays is only a tourist show. Young men, wearing the military attire of that time, revive the tradition and sing the history of the cannon shot. A fun fact: many people in the city keep track of time thanks to this sound alert.

Se aceptan las tarjetas de crédito siempre que NO sean emitidas por bancos estadounidenses ni sus sucursales en otros países.

El visitante a nuestro país debe poseer un pasaporte vigente y la correspondiente visa o Tarjeta de Turista. Se exceptúan los países con los que Cuba mantiene convenios de libre visado. Las Tarjetas de Turista pueden solicitarse antes las representaciones consulares cubanas. También en las agencias de viajes y líneas aéreas.

Al llegar a la aduana, se entiende por turista aquella persona no residente permanentemente en el país, independientemente de su nacionalidad, que entre al mismo por razones de placer, negocio, salud, deporte, por un periodo mayor de 24 horas y menor de 6 meses.

Los turistas podrán importar sus efectos personales, los que entran al país como una admisión temporal; libres del pago de derecho de aduanas y deben ser reexportados a su salida.

EL TURISTA PUEDE EXPORTAR: Hasta veinte (20) unidades de tabaco torcido sueltos, sin necesidad de presentar ningún documento. Hasta cincuenta ( 50) unidades de tabaco torcido, con la condición que estén contenidos en el envases originales, cerrado, sellado y con el holograma oficial establecido, exigencias sin las cuales no se autoriza la exportación.

Cantidad en exceso de cincuenta (50) unidades de tabaco torcido, las cuales no pueden exceder el valor de los 5,000.00 CUC, deben presentar la factura de venta oficial expedida por la red de tiendas autorizadas a comercializar tabacos torcidos cubanos, correspondiente a todo el tabaco torcido que intenten extraer y que necesariamente tiene que estar contenidos en envases originales, cerrados y sellados y con el holograma oficial establecido.

Las cantidades de tabaco torcido en exceso de las cincuentas (50) unidades que no sea declarado por el viajero y cualquier cantidad que exceda lo declarado, o que habiéndose declarado no se acredite su adquisición lícita mediante la factura de venta oficial o los envases no posean los atributos y demás exigencias que lo identifican como tabaco torcido cubano, dará lugar al decomiso.

De igual forma podrá llevar hasta 3 botellas de licor y 200 cigarrillos, Souvenirs o recuerdos de su estancia en el país.
