Alegría en esta Octava de Pascua

Les comparto mi reflexión al Evangelio de hoy.

"Salieron y se embarcaron; y aquella noche no cogieron nada. Estaba ya amaneciendo, cuando Jesús se presentó en la orilla; pero los discípulos no sabían que era Jesús" Del Evangelio del día Jn 21, 1 14.

¡Demos la bienvenida a la noche oscura!

Porque nunca la noche oscura ha sido la última palabra para una persona creyente en su camino de fe… Siempre lo que sigue después de que muera la persona vieja, será una persona nueva, más configurada con Jesús y su proyecto. Y en el centro de eso, finalmente, más auténtica y capaz de amar en él.

Así que, ánimo. Ya lo decía mi querida Santa Teresa :

“Nada te turbe, nada te espante, todo se pasa, la paciencia todo lo alcanza, quien a Dios tiene nada le falta, sólo Dios basta”

O como menciona el Salmo 62, 6 7:

“Sólo en Dios encuentro descanso, de él viene mi salvación, sólo él es mi roca, mi salvación, mi alcázar: jamás vacilaré”.

Construir una vida de comunidad es entrar en una aventura que vuelve a comenzar mañana. De qué sirve proclamar que se ama a Dios que no se ve, si no se ama al hermano que está ahí cerca de ti. Con las hermanas de tu comunidad haces la experiencia profunda e inmediata de la diferencia. La experiencia de la diversas generaciones del origen familiar, de los caracteres y a veces de las nacionalidades. Tú y yo: una Hermana que no escogiste, la comunidad que formamos es lugar primero donde hacemos la experiencia en lo cotidiano y en el tiempo, que las diferencias que tan a menudo dividen a los hombres, pueden vivirse en el respeto mutuo, en el cariño fraterno y en la comunión. Es ahí precisamente donde se pone a prueba nuestra vocación, de estima y de amor por el pueblo judío y por los hombres.

Construir una comunidad es orar juntas, unidas en una pequeña célula de la Iglesia que somos a menudo perdida en el anonimato de la ciudad, lleva en sus manos la alegría y la pena de la comunidad humana, en la

espera de aquel que viene a reconciliar a todas las cosas.

Construir una comunidad, es vivir en la conciencia de un ministerio de fe, alrededor de un huésped invisible presente en nuestra mesa y en nuestra vida. Porque “ahí donde dos o tres se reúnen en mi nombre yo estoy en medio de ellos”.

“Haciendo Comunidad...”

El clima y, sobre todo, la disposición de trabajar de los estudiantes convirtieron a este espacio de diálogo en una nueva experiencia para los jóvenes, de este modo se vivenció la convivencia de los sétimos años. Desde el inicio, fueron recibidos por los organizadores de forma amena. Los trasladaron a un recinto para indicarles las instrucciones generales y para presentar la frase institucional: “Seamos uno, es la última palabra del amor”, Padre Teodoro Ratisbona. De alguna u otra manera fue aplicada en las distintas actividades recreativas con el fin de interiorizar en ellos su valioso significado. Seguidamente, se disfrutó el desayuno compartido que los mismos estudiantes organizaron de una forma sorprendentemente ordenada y con ese espíritu de unión que los está caracterizando como generación. La convivencia fue una experiencia muy bonita, nos conocimos mejor, aprendimos a trabajar en equipo y nos conectamos con Dios. Realizamos varias actividades muy interesantes y creativas, también compartimos porque cada grupo se puso de acuerdo para llevar algo en el desayuno. Lo que más me llamó la atención fue que aunque no nos conocíamos muy bien, nos esforzamos para trabajar en equipo y divertirnos y, como dice la palabra, "convivimos".

Día del Deporte Preescolar y Primaria. Lic. Gilbert Cordero S. Departamento de Educación Física y Deportes

Un aprendizaje sano y de unión es lo que vivimos en nuestro día deportivo, colocando nuestros talentos y disciplinas en cada uno de los deportes. De esta forma valorar y aprender de cada uno de ellos como un deporte que me lleva al convivio y a un estilo de vida sana.

Deporte y recreación unidos para formar parte de un día lleno de adrenalina, sonrisas, unión, comprensión y valores que nos orientan a crecer como profesionales en las distintas ramas deportivas en las que participamos.

Es importante rescatar que en la vida no siempre se gana ni siempre se pierde, es una balanza que nos lleva a la superación constante del día a día como seres humanos. Quisimos motivar a los niños, jóvenes, padres de familia y docentes a ver el deporte con actitud positiva y alegre de disfrutar en una mañana los espacios de diálogo y compresión para lograr una superación personal mediante la práctica del deporte.

Juegos como baloncesto, fútbol, voleibol, atletismo, béisbol y tenis fueron algunos de los deportes que rescatamos, unidos a actividades recreativas tales como rallys y circuitos fueron la combinación perfecta para un día del deporte lleno de alegría.

El Día del Deporte estuvo lleno de lindas actividades muy dinámicas, creativas y nuevas, que lograron sacar muchas sonrisas a nuestros hijos. Nos permitió compartir en familia, así como con los demás compañeros, padres y profesores.

Me encantó mucho el día del deporte porque fue un espacio de diálogo, de mucha diversión, me encantó la diversidad de juegos y actividades que se realizaron porque logró que toda la primaria estuviera activa disfrutando un maravilloso día del deporte. Vimos a las profesoras y a nuestra directora realizando deporte y un espacio de unión como familia Sion que somos.

No queríamos que el tiempo se acabara, queríamos que fuera más tiempo para seguir recreándonos de una manera tan bonita como lo fue el día del deporte.

¿Por qué son importantes las Directivas de Sección para una institución educativa?

Los procesos electorales estudiantiles constituyen un espacio de la educación no formal que se da en el marco de los centros educativos, en el cual los estudiantes aprenden a organizarse, manejar conflictos, lograr consensos y acuerdos, negociar, hablar en público, tomar decisiones que conllevan a la búsqueda de soluciones, a la vivencia de los valores democráticos asumiendo, de este modo, el ejercicio de la ciudadanía como un derecho que a la vez implica una serie de responsabilidades.

Mediante las Directivas de Sección es posible dar los primeros pasos en los procesos de representación democrática, de modo que el estudiantado tenga la posibilidad de ejercer una correcta participación en distintos aspectos de la vida, tanto estudiantil como comunal.

Por medio del voto secreto, y como lo dicta el Reglamento para la Organización y Funcionamiento del Gobierno Estudiantil, durante los meses de febrero y marzo, nuestros estudiantes de las diferentes secciones, tuvieron la oportunidad de ejercer su derecho a la participación y representación, eligiendo a sus compañeros que, a su criterio, representan sus intereses y diversas necesidades. De ahí la importancia de tomar conciencia, a la hora de elegir cada Directiva de Sección, de que los estudiantes que las integren, se comprometan con responsabilidad en el cumplimiento de sus diversas funciones, entre ellas:

“(…)*Determinar necesidades e intereses del grupo que permitan conformar un plan de trabajo.

*Apoyar los proyectos tendientes a unificar al grupo y a promover el progreso y la calidad de vida individual y grupal.

*Apoyar la realización de proyectos de cooperación y solidaridad con la institución y la comunidad donde esté ubicado el centro educativo (…)”. Reglamento para la Organización y Funcionamiento del Gobierno Estudiantil. MEP, 2009.

Cada una de las Directivas de Sección está conformada por los puestos de Presidencia, Vicepresidencia, Secretaría, Tesorería, Fiscalía, Primera Vocalía y Segunda Vocalía. Además, deben estar integradas en forma paritaria y alternada, promoviendo la igualdad de género.

Dentro del proceso electoral estudiantil, las Directivas de Sección constituyen actividades de elección popular de gran relevancia, en el tanto en que promueven la ciudadanía activa, las competencias ciudadanas y el pleno ejercicio de los derechos estudiantiles. Aparte de desarrollar diversos proyectos para mejorar las condiciones de los estudiantes de la sección, tienen la potestad de proponer candidatos para conformar el Tribunal Electoral Estudiantil, así como de exponer las distintas situaciones que afectan al estudiantado ante la Asamblea de Representantes.

En efecto, se busca que, a través de las Directivas de Sección, los estudiantes puedan participar en diversas instancias en donde tengan la posibilidad de tomar acuerdos sobre los entornos educativos, con el propósito de que se involucren, de que sean escuchados y que, a su vez, tengan injerencia en la toma de decisiones tanto dentro como fuera de los salones de clase.

GOBIERNO

La Asamblea de Representantes es un órgano de carácter deliberativo, es decir, en ella se analizan y definen aspectos que afectan a toda la población estudiantil.

Está conformada por las presidencias de las directivas de todas las secciones del centro educativo. La dirige un grupo de estudiantes que forman un Directorio definitivo que debe estar constituido por: Presidencia, Vicepresidencia, Secretaría. Fiscalía, Primera Vocalía y Segunda Vocalía.

Entre las funciones de la Asamblea de Representantes que se detallan en el Reglamento anteriormente indicado figuran las siguientes:

“(…)*Atender los asuntos que sean presentados a su consideración por la Dirección del Centro Educativo o la Presidencia del Comité Ejecutivo.

*Participar y apoyar al Comité Ejecutivo en los asuntos de interés estudiantil.

*Elaborar y llevar a cabo proyectos de cooperación y solidaridad con la institución y la comunidad donde esté ubicado el Centro Educativo.

*Mantener comunicación directa con los y las estudiantes sobre los acuerdos y acciones analizadas” (…)”.

A continuación presentamos las diferentes Directivas de Sección recién electas con que cuenta nuestra institución, así como también la Asamblea de Representantes y su Directorio. El Departamento de Estudios Sociales y toda la comunidad educativa del Colegio Nuestra Señora de Sion, les extiende las más sinceras felicitaciones y les desea muchos éxitos en el desempeño de sus funciones, especialmente en su ardua tarea de fortalecer, día con día, como ciudadanos jóvenes, los valores democráticos que caracterizan a nuestra sociedad costarricense.

Despertar la pasión por Investigación

Como iniciativa del Departamento de Ciencias y con el afán de motivar los procesos de investigación de la institución, se realizó una exposición a partir de la experiencia de los jóvenes estudiantes Fabián Porras del Colegio Técnico Profesional de Atenas, creador de su propia prótesis de antebrazo, manejada por medio de comandos de voz, participante de la Feria latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología y Heilyn Calvo, del Colegio Técnico Profesional de Acosta, ganadora de la Feria Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología 2017, en el área de Biotecnología y representante nacional para la Feria Internacional ( ISEF ChalIenge) que se efectuará en el mes de mayo en Pittsburg, Pensilvania, Estados Unidos.

Los estudiantes nos visitaron con gran entusiasmo, dada la pasión con que hacen de la investigación, más que una experiencia una vivencia, con la intención de motivar a nuestros estudiantes que cursan métodos de investigación en tercer ciclo, brindando consejos sobre los procesos de investigación desde su propia experiencia, y por medio de su ejemplo, ser una fuente de inspiración para los que se encuentran realizando nuestros estudiantes, ya que tan premiados proyectos los iniciaron con bases muy insipientes, sin conocer sobre el tema, pero sus sueños, objetivos y metas estaban en sus mentes y nada los detuvo para alcanzar el éxito.

Como lo mencionan los estudiantes invitados, los procesos de investigación, no solamente los ha llevado a alcanzar grandes sueños y ganar premios, sino también les ha permitido enfocarse sobre su futuro profesional, brindar soluciones a diferentes problemáticas de la sociedad y sobre todo un claro ejemplo de superación personal, esfuerzo y disciplina, que lleva a pensar que las verdaderas limitantes se encuentran en la mente de las personas.

Algunos de nuestros estudiantes se refirieron a su experiencia sobre el compartir con Fabián y Heylin:

Jason Brenes 7-B

El 13 de marzo hubo una charla científica, en la cual aprendimos que una investigación no necesariamente tiene que ser sobre máquinas, poder sobre cómo mejorar las plantas para que produzca mejores frutos y más rápido. También una investigación inicia por una pegunta, un suceso en el pasado o presente, así como por problemas familiares. La educación en métodos de investigación en el colegio nos ayuda a formular preguntas bien redactadas, por medio de variables dependientes e independientes y así iniciar una investigación.

Sin investigar, el ser humano no estaría como se encuentra en la actualidad, no tendríamos todos nuestros aparatos electrónicos entre otros. La materia de métodos de investigación puede verse como una materia aburrida. En algunos momentos puede ser frustrante, y nos puede hacer sentir que la investigación que hacemos no sirve para nada o solo la hacemos para ganarnos unos puntos en dicha materia. Pero, en realidad nos están ayudando cuando en un futuro tengamos, por ejemplo una tesis, además que despierta en nosotros la curiosidad por saber más.

La conferencia dada el 13 de marzo por Heilyn y Fabián fue muy inspiradora e interesante al mismo tiempo. Ambos estudiantes vienen de centros educativos de bajos recursos, esto los complicó ligeramente, pero los dos estudiantes prodigios demostraron que no es imposible incluso con falta de recursos.

Comencemos con mi opinión con el trabajo de Heliyn: este empezó por una necesidad, puesto que la meteorología y las condiciones geográficas de Acosta han cambiado drásticamente en los últimos años, estos acontecimientos afectaron uno de los ingresos capitales del lugar: los sembradíos de café. Heilyn se dio cuenta y decidió resolver este problema, esto la llevó directamente a trabajar en plantas transgénicas, para poder hacer ese proyecto tuvo que estudiar el café a escala nacional para adquirir el conocimiento necesario. Posteriormente realizó la experimentación y el resto son exposiciones en las que triunfó repetidamente. En mi opinión el esfuerzo de Heilyn por mantener el lugar donde creció estable (desde un punto de vista económico) es valorable y considero que las personas deberían tener las ganas de hacer el esfuerzo y la dedicación por mantener sus ciudades y pueblos estables.

Fabian es, descrito en una sola palabra, inspirante, desde el momento en que vi su proyecto me llamó la atención, se podría decir. Él nos cuenta que cuando tenía alrededor de un año y cuatro meses tuvo

un accidente que tomó gran parte de su brazo izquierdo. En cierto punto de su vida Fabian se cambia de colegio y en esta nueva institución uno de los profesores le sugirió que trabajara en una prótesis, esta parte dice que le costó bastante, tuvo que aprender robótica “avanzada” para poder fabricar su prototipo, luego de adquirir suficiente información hizo múltiples pruebas hasta que llegó a la prótesis actual, esta funciona mediante alguna especie de gancho que no tiene un giro de 360°, la parte innovadora de esta prótesis es que funciona mediante vocalmente, es decir, que sus acciones se comandan mediante la voz y actualmente solamente posee las funcionas de abrir y cerrar. En general Fabian es una excelente persona, es evidente que está muy enfocado en lo que quiere, que sus intenciones son puras y que se merece todo el éxito que está teniendo y mucho más.

En general ambos expositores son inspiradores, ambos dan una lección muy importante, el conocimiento, la inteligencia y la capacidad la poseemos todos y que lo que hace falta son las ganas de hacer un proyecto.

La importancia de la investigación

Hace unas semanas dos muchachos nos contaron sus proyectos de feria científica, los dos eran muy simpáticos. Nos explicaron que realizaron investigaciones muy extensas. Tenían una idea por desarrollar, sin embargo, como mencionó uno de ellos, no tenía conocimientos en robótica que necesitaban para elaborar su proyecto. Buscaron apoyo para efectuar sus investigaciones, por ejemplo sus profesores, instituciones y de sus familias. Esta charla fue motivadora, ya que a pesar de todo ellos fueron persistentes y aún desean continuar desarrollando sus proyectos. Esto nos enseña que realizar una investigación no es sencillo. Ellos iniciaron sus investigaciones a partir de una problemática ya sea personal o de la población en general.

No debemos pensar que nuestras ideas son malas, además necesitamos aceptar la ayuda de los demás y nunca rendirnos.

Nosotros, en nuestro colegio, contamos con el apoyo de nuestros profesores y la ventaja de tener un laboratorio de Ciencias; debemos aprovechar esta oportunidad.

La investigación permite solucionar necesidades, por ejemplo muchas de estas aportan al campo de la medicina, ya sea una cura de una enfermedad o un aparato tecnológico para detectar enfermedades en las personas.

Gira didáctica de Sétimo año

La visita al monumento Guayabo y a la finca La Florita fue el rumbo que disfrutaron los grupos de sétimo año, el viernes 23 de marzo. Desde la experiencia de ir cantado en el bus, recitar fragmentos de “Mercando leña” y adivinar el nombre de canciones religiosas mediante fragmentos son solo algunos de los momentos que se disfrutaron.

El paisaje rural de Turrialba llamó la atención de los jóvenes: casas campestres, paisaje verde, ganado y el volcán Turrialba eran dignos de admiración.

En el monumento Guayabo los estudiantes fueron recibidos por la guía, quien les explicó la parte histórica y las grandes obras de ingeniería ahí construidas. Por otra parte, en la finca La Florita, aprendieron el proceso de elaboración del queso y la manera de cómo ordeñar una vaca. Para algunos esta última actividad fue todo un reto puesto que era la primera vez que lo hacían.

Introduction

A teacher’s challenge is to help students feel confident enough to express their own opinions publicly. Either it is a universal phenomenon or an unspoken rule, the students that in the recess talk about their opinions until the last minute; they fall silent in the classrooms the next. Once the students cross our doors, they lose their boldness, and for some reason, sharing their opinions becomes a terrifying challenge. Teachers must face this phenomenon daily. The reality is that the time in the class is never more rewarding than when the students are willing to share their opinions. This is the reason why we have been working on a new section for the school bulletin where we share some of the students’ opinions. As part of the effort from the language department, we have taken into account the students’ written opinion about things related to their school. Grammar and spelling were checked as well as the respectful manner in which they were written. We thank you so much for all the support you have given your children in this assignment.

MY FAMILY

I live with my mother and with my dog. Before I used to live with my dad as well but two years ago he decided to leave. My family is so small, on my mother’s side I just have my aunt and my cousin. And on my father’s side I have my two grandparents, my two uncles and my aunt. It is so interesting, because my mother’s side is always happy. They always have a smile on their faces, on the other hand, my father’s family is always bitter, angry and with such an ugly face. And literally my mom is so happy and my father is bitter and I am a mixture of both, but more on my mother’s side. Obviously in my family there are problems like in all the families, but honestly, I love my family with their problems and all.

I like to go to the high school because

At 2:40 p.m., it´s time to leave, but tomorrow

One of my favorite things that I like about my high school is the exchanges they do to different countries. At the moment, they have exchange programs to Kansas City and France. This year I am honored to be part of the one to France. We are visiting 3 different cities: Marseilles, Strasbourg and Evry. I think this is a great opportunity to meet new people, go to a different country and of course to practice the language, in this case French. I really expect many good things of it and I hope it would be an experience I will never forget. From the short days I have been on this experience I can tell it will be great, if you have the opportunity to be part of something like this, I really recommend you to do it.

WHY SHOULD WE BE PROUD OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL?

I am proud of my school because I have been there since I was five years old. I think it is a beautiful school and I like that I have made a lot of friends at the school that I really love like my best friends Daniela, Sofia, and Isabella. I have learned a lot of things like to be responsible and I have learned languages like English and French. I really like English, it is my favorite subject. I like all the students and the teachers, I think they are nice. I like that it has a soccer team because I really like soccer. I really like the exchanges, I hope that I can go to the exchange to Kansas. But I like my high school for its activities, the people, and the good vibes that it has. I hope to finish high school in this institution because I like it and I have my friends there. So yes, I love my school and I proud of it.

MY SCHOOL

Our Lady of Sion High School has managed to integrate academic preparation, sports, music, moral and spiritual values into the development of the educational program. The Cultural and Sport Festivals are a part of our institution, in which we all want to participate. Through them, we can express ourselves and the development of different disciplines is encouraged. Additionally, the cultural exchanges with the sister schools in other countries help us to know other latitudes; with everything that entails. Every year we receive and share with young people who visit us, we strive to take the best image of ourselves and therefore of our country.

THE EXCHANGE TO FRANCE

I am going to France in May and I’m a little bit nervous because I don´t speak French that well. Tomorrow I´m going to receive a French guy called Richard Baptistal, who is going to stay at my house during the next twenty-eight days. I really don´t know how we are going to communicate, but I think I´m going to talk to him in English because I don’t know how to establish a good communication in French and I think he can´t establish a good communication with me in Spanish, so the only option left is to speak with him in English. I think tomorrow I will take him to the gastronomical festival in Barrio Escalante, if he is not tired because he is going to fly 12 hours straight and then he has to go through the airport security inspection here and customs and immigration enforcement.

My high school’s friends told me I would only see Richard at night and at the weekend because he is going to be traveling with the principal and the French teachers to the cool places of Costa Rica because one of the most important reasons why they come to Costa Rica is to see new places and meet new people. On Tuesday I will go with my friends, the principal, Richard and the French teachers to Coronado. I really don’t know why we are going to Coronado, but I thing is to see the sisters or to do a picnic. In April, another French guy is coming and he will stay with us one month and then I will go

to France one month and I will learn about their culture and their traditions.

THE BEGINNING OF THE EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE

I am going to talk about the day when the students from Sion Evry arrived in Costa Rica. It was Sunday 18th, 2018 and I was so excited because I would finally meet Victoire and her friends. They arrived at the International Juan Santamaría Airport at 3:20 p.m., but they were supposed to arrive at school at 4 p.m. That day we had many cars on the street and they couldn’t arrive on time. They finally got to school in a bus and we were clapping and screaming to welcome them. It was so cool I am sure I will never forget this exchange experience.

DOES THE EXCHANGE CHANGE STUDENTS’LIVES?

In my opinion the exchange to Kansas or France makes unbelievable experiences and tries to improve the usage of the language you chose. You will make new friends and the experience offers the possibility of living with new people and new ways of doing some things you will never think of before. Learning new traditions and costums, trying meals and drinks. Improving your language will make you have more options for jobs opportunities. In my own opinion the exchange changes students’ lives in two ways: the experience of making new friends and meeting new people and the improvement of the language for the future.

UNIFORMAND SCHEDULE

Something I would like to change from the school is the uniforms and some things about the schedule. I will like for us to be able to wear any sweater we like. I would also like for us to not have to wear a belt because, for me it doesn’t make sense, you can’t see it because of the tucked-out shirt. Another thing I would change is the rules about the hair because having it long or short doesn’t make you a better or worse student. I would like for us to be able to wear any sports clothes

for physical education because it’s the same and for us it will be cheaper. About the schedule I would make us start school at 7:45 a.m. and finish at 3 p.m. Like almost every other school, I would let us leave earlier on Fridays. Although there are some things I would change I don’t think this is a bad school and I’m happy to be in it.

MY SCHOOL

The school is the institution where we study. As a child, you start school in kindergarten and the teachers teach you the alphabet and the numbers in class. Years after as you grow up and have completed the years, you keep on learning, assimilating knowledge and developing a well rounded personality. You also become more and more capable and equipped to do your duties and responsibilities as a good human being. Your teachers at school teach you with a great deal of care, concern, and patience. When you finish school, you are grateful to your school and all the teachers who shaped you into what you have become and you share fond memories. The school is a place where you are happy to go because you have your friends and teachers.

MY FAVORITE SPORT

Hello my name is Natalia. I will tell you something that I like to do. My favorite sport is basketball. The first time that I saw a basketball game was when I was 8 years old. In my family there is a cousin that plays this sport, with his help I went to a good basketball school. They gave me a sport scholarship. My cousin was my coach. They have two teams one is the Seminario team and the other is San Jose. Now, I change school and I play with the team of Goico. This is something that I like to play.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY SUPPORT IN OUR LADY OF SION HIGH SCHOOL

There are many students in Sion, but not all of them receive the same amount of support from their family, that’s an important issue to consider. Why there are so many problems among the students? Like their behavior that sometimes is difficult to explain or control or why they do certain things or talk in a certain way. Maybe all of these behaviors start at home, in the attention that parents pay to their children. It’s understandable that there are many difficult family issues, like a conflict between family members or the parents’ divorce, etc. But the people have to think about the harm they are causing to the students, the difficult time they have to go through in the school and the pressure they are under with the responsibilities. We can’t deny that many of them are just lazy, but there are others that have

to work hard for themselves and put a lot of effort without any help from their family. At this age the students need a lot of attention and it’s so important the communication with the parents, the students need to feel that there is someone they can count on whenever they need it. If they receive the right amount of affection and support they can progress a lot more in school and be better people in the future.

NATURE

Nature is the set of animals, plants and everything that has not been created by the human being. Nature is very interesting because everything has a specific function in its environment. Everything in nature is helped to coexist from a cockroach to an elephant. Some people believe that there are certain things in nature that have no function like spiders that help keep insects regulated. The ocean is one of the most important parts of the environment since it is the largest producer of oxygen in the world and it’s the natural habitat of many species. The mountains are important to define the climate in each zone, as well the vegetation and the rivers. In nature there can be many materials such as thread, wood, ivory, and rocks. It is very important to take care of nature because of the change that can affect the environment.

MY EXPERIENCE AT THE TALENT SHOW

Hello, my name is Emilia and I am going to share my experience as a participant at the Talent Show of Our Lady of Sion High School. I always wanted to sing and the music teacher told me to participate in the Talent Show. I was very nervous because I had never participated in this kind of activities and I always had problems with the crowd, basically I had scenic panic and I was so worried because I thought that I was going to ruin everything. My friends helped me a lot to choose the song and to cheer me up while the time for me to sing in the Talent Show was approaching. I was even more nervous by that time. I had chosen the song “Happier" from Ed Sheeran (I am a big fan of Ed Sheeran) and I was going to sing with another girl, her name is Sussy and she sings very beautiful. We practiced a lot because we were going to be a duo and I wanted to do some solos, so we had to organize a lot the time that she was going to sing and the times that I was going to sing. The day of the Talent was finally there and I had problems with my voice, I was a little hoarse and I wasn’t sure I was going to make it. But later I discover that most of my friends were there to support me and immediately I was more confident than before. The time was finally there, I went up on the stage with

Sussy and immediately my friends started screaming. My family was there too. We did it pretty well, and I was so proud, when we finally stopped singing my friends were screaming a lot and I felt so happy. I now have the conclusion that you can do anything, but is way much better when your friends support you because that makes you believe in yourself, true friends will always make you believe in yourself. I hope that I can participate in the next Talent Show and I am very excited about it!

P.E UNIFORMSMY CRAZY ADVENTURE WITHA FRENCH GUY

This week has been crazy for me because a French guy is staying at my house. His name is Suleymane Seck. I had to clean and organize my room for him. At the beginning I was very nervous but then we started talking a lot and we became good friends. We have a special handshake. We have so much in common, he likes soccer, music, and dancing. We are very happy that he is at my house because he is very nice. I would like to see him again when he leaves the country.

THE EXCHANGE

I am going to talk about my experience with the exchange France-Costa Rica. It’s a very beautiful experience. The first time that I met Emma, it was weird and beautiful. I was so nervous and happy at the same time. At the beginning it was complicated because you don’t know what to talk about, but it’s very interesting how much you can learn. For example, Emma taught me a lot of interesting things. She is a very beautiful person and so sweet. At first, I was so scared that we wouldn’t get along but now I appreciate her so much. I hope to see her again when she leaves the country.

ACTIVITIES I LIKE TO DOAT THE HIGH SCHOOL

Considering the things that I like about high school, the first thing I have to mention is the time I share with some classmates and friends. I met them a long time ago, and what I really like to do with them is to talk and have lunch together. Another three friends that I like to be with are Ricardo, Jose Pablo and Ash, I met them in seventh grade. Second, I also like three subjects: English, Computing Science and Biology. I like English because it is a language that I will use in the future and nowadays it is important to speak a second language. I like Computer Science because I am addicted to computers and I really enjoy learning about them. Biology is also one of my favorite subjects because I can learn about nature and animals. school with my friends and attend to my favorites classes.

THE MOST FAMOUSANIME CATEGORY

In 1963 Tezuka Ozamu created the first manga series “Tetsuwan Atomu” (Astro Boy), and it became quickly a phenomenon of the animation. The shönen is the most famous anime category, why? Keep reading if you want the answer. In Japanese, the word shönen means “teenager”, it’s a word use in Japan to refer to the manga series for boys from fourteen to eighteen years old. The shönen series are typically series with a number of action scenes, they have a male protagonist and usually has attractive female characters. The main character is commonly a clumsy guy that is in search of something during all the episodes. It’s common that this guy has more power during the end of a stage, than other characters. Shönen series usually have only one female character in the group of friends, but this female character is treated like another boy of the group. That friend is there for moral support and it’s common that she has some relevance in many important events, but never arrives to the final conflict. One example of this category is the anime Dragon Ball Z or Naruto. In conclusion, the most famous anime category is the shönen because of its amazing battles and unreal power levels.

WHAT IS SION FOR ME?

Sion is the best thing that has happened in my life. Sion brings opportunities for everybody. Sion has very good teachers, why? because the teachers give personalized attention to each student. One thing that I love of Sion are the clubs of sports, for me this is an advantage that Sion has, because no every school has this opportunity. Here, you can be with your friends, do exercise, and have fun. Our school has a lot of clubs of sports like: male and female soccer, basketball and volleyball teams. All the students in Sion are so friendly, that makes us a big family. For me Sion is the best school.

Partir de casa para llegar y ser recibido en familia. Esta es la experiencia que viven los estudiantes y profesores de Sion de Francia que año a año visitan su familia de Sion en Costa Rica.

Ambas delegaciones son recibidas con mucho entusiasmo. Cada uno de los estudiantes de intercambio es hospedado en la casa de uno de nuestros estudiantes. Por consiguiente, ambos se benefician del intercambio lingüístico y cultural que les brinda esta oportunidad.

Además de conocer lugares de interés turístico, es importante recalcar que entre las actividades que realizan ambas delegaciones en nuestro país están el darles a conocer y permitirles participar en los proyectos de Sion. Por ejemplo, entre los lugares de visita se encuentran: la casa de las Hermanas de Sion en Coronado y el Colegio Sion en Turrialba.

Así, con este proyecto, los estudiantes, tanto de Francia como de Costa Rica, viven una experiencia muy enriquecedora en su formación.

Este 2018, el domingo 18 de febrero en la tarde, llega a Costa Rica la delegación del Colegio Sion de Évry, Paris. Ésta es conformada por 19 estudiantes y dos profesoras. Seguidamente, el lunes 19 de febrero en la madrugada, arriban desde Estrasburgo 16 estudiantes, una profesora y la directora Sandrine Bathilde.

Programa de Intercambios Culturales Comunidad Educativa Colegio Nuestra Señora de Sion

El programa de intercambios culturales del Colegio Nuestra Señora de Sion se ha convertido en un espacio de aprendizaje para todos. Durante varios años se han establecido y afianzado relaciones de amistad entre diversos grupos de familias tanto dentro como fuera de nuestro país.

Es por esto que la comunidad educativa de Sion aprovecha este espacio para extender el más profundo agradecimiento por el trato familiar que han recibido los estudiantes que les han visitado, gracias por la atención y cada uno de los momentos que han tomado de su tiempo para compartir y aprender de una cultura diferente.

Este año fue todo un reto para el proyecto pues durante los meses de febrero, marzo y abril nos visitaron tres diferentes colegios de Sion procedentes de Francia.
