Introducing the
“ One of my favorite memories will be of ringing the bell because it felt like I had really started my BDS career. ” -Elijah Allen ’21
Belmont Day inducted 104 members of the school community into the newly formed Bell and Laurel Society. The society honors those donors that have contributed to the Belmont Day Annual Fund for 10 or more consecutive years. Donors received a commemorative bell at a reception in April. Another new tradition began this spring—the celebration of Founders Day. On April 26, each student had a turn ringing the school bell that sits at the entrance of the Barn. The bell has been on our campus since the early 1940s when school treasurer Henry Wood donated it to the school. On graduation day in June, each member of the Class of 2019 rang the bell at the conclusion of the ceremony, marking the close of their BDS journey. In September, all new students rang the bell, creating a meaningful moment at the beginning of their time at Belmont Day. The Class of 2019 celebrates graduation by ringing the Belmont Day Bell.
