New Climbing Wall Challenges Students
Thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor through the Raise Y[our] Voice capital campaign, a traverse wall is now part of the physical education curriculum at Belmont Day. The wall was installed in the newly dedicated Downing Gym, named by the Wade family—Jim, Margaret, Michael ’15, Peter ’15, James ’17, and Ellie ’18—in honor of former teacher and administrator David Downing, recognizing him “as a representation of excellence in teaching at Belmont Day School.”
Teachers are incorporating the wall in challenge activities that support students’ physical and cognitive growth and align with the principles of whole-child education. Many thanks to the generosity of our anonymous donor for supporting these new adventure-based activities in the PE program.

Auction Supports Erskine Library Renovation
The 2019 "Wonder" auction hosted by the parents' association raised over $180,000 for the school, with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to the Erskine Library. New serpentine bookcases, flexible seating, cozy reading nooks, and an added middle school research and collaboration room have combined to refresh one of the central learning hubs at Belmont Day. Thank you to our parent community for making the renovation of the beloved Erskine Library possible.
